  • I've a decent collection of tools. Once you work out how much it costs to pay tradesmen for little jobs like putting shelves up etc you soon learn the DIY skills to do it yourself!

Trip to T complete - needed loo roll. Milk bought & a 500g bag of mixed nuts & raisins for work lunches - got to be better than chocolate...

Also got some hemming web to "shorten" the black trousers I bought from Primarni that only came in long. That's my next job.

Money, your lights could just be a filament bulb gone "pop" which could trip breaker with a current surge

I'm guessing that's what it was.

So duly swopped both hallway light bulbs and the bulb in my study - as they'd all "gone" during this.

Went to swop one elsewhere in the house I hadnt got round to swopping and - whoops! I've got to get in an electrician, as the pendant thing broke whilst I was trying to get the bulb in. That'll be fun finding one for a little job in the first place:cool: - as the two lights in that room have different pendant fittings to the rest of my house (after being swopped early on by an emergency electrician)

Annoyed - as that'll be money destined to be spent on myself that will be going on the house again...grr...

DIY wise - and I confess to virtually zilch skills and absolutely no interest in it. Courtesy of my father, various boyfriends and a male friend doing so much of my DIY in my last house - so...I never learnt....and I will admit to still having zilch interest in it and hence my first thought is "How much is this going to cost me?" these days about it...

I've been four years without lights. I got a plug in lamp in the living room and did without in the downstairs and upstairs hallways. I did use some solar lights at some point, then CBA.

I needed to buy some special bulbs and simply never got round to it.... as they were about £10 each. Finally HAD to do it ... and found some at just over £6 each, so bought three. :)

It's difficult/dangerous/expensive when you're clueless to simply go poking about with stuff... yet so many people willingly encourage people to have a poke about on these boards. It's not for me.

Gave the chilli a stir. Tastes really great; bl00dy hot hot hot! :)

I'll leave it another few hours.

Might do spaghetti rather than rice as spaghetti's 3 minutes and rice is 12 :)

    Good evening everyone,

It never reached more than few degrees above freezing today and now it's dark there's a thick frost already:eek:.
My friends had been on the beach with the dogs before coming to me and despite being well wrapped were frozen when they arrived. Spicy soup went down well and they each had two helpings. :)
Dinner tonight will be bangers & mash probably with sprouts and carrots.
  • It's been cold, wet & miserable here for the whole 4 days I've been off work caronc.
Hence why I've stayed in doing house stuff rather than going out & doing outdoor stuff.
Slightly sad I've got to go back to work tomorrow.

I will enjoy the walk to work & back every day - that exercise really perks me up. Getting up at 6am, not so much....!

Tonight's tea is some spicy chicken wings from the freezer & some HM wedges - I needed something that was no more effort than take out of freezer, put in oven.

It's got to that magical time.... "I can't wait any longer".

Chilli, spaghetti, topped with cheddar. Side portion of yesterday's cheesy bread nuked warm.

EDIT: Oh dear... that bread portion was way too big and not required. "Spoilt" the rest of the meal in a way as I then had too much food to get through. Oh well. If I weren't so utterly stuffed, I'd be dashing into the kitchen now to get a small portion of seconds of the chilli :)

Omg went out for tea, n it was awful.Ordered a falafel burger, n it came, completely uncooked n soggy.I complained n they said they'd make me another. I waited ages n they finally came n told me the fuse had gone in the burger maker:mad:
I obviously got a refund, but can't believe they sent it out raw in the first place :(

That's terrible candygirl no wonder you were:mad::mad:
How hard can it be make/cook your burger decently even if the "burger maker" was kaput?
Glad you enjoyed the chilli PN even if you did have too much cheesy bread:)

Tonight definitely feels like the coldest it has been so far this winter. I had to ramp the heating up higher it's been yet as if I wear anymore layers I'll not be able to move!
