Yesterday, I had salmon, with veg and chips with tartare sauce.
Tonight was chicken in tempura batter, with Greek briam. And cheese on the side I really enjoyed it.
Then had a bag of aldi caramel buttons with a cuppa.
Finished work now until Tuesday !! :TFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
You know you've got a cold when eating your morning porridge has you thinking "How come this tastes as if it's flavoured with Olbas Oil?". Comes to conclusion it must be having just spent a night with a tissue beside pillow drenched with Olbas Oil...:(
I'd almost forgotten what it's like to have a cold - as it's been so long since I've had one...
Yep....we've got winter here today here - "You know it's winter - when you can 'hear' the weather"...0 -
Morning all!
A busy day had yesterday, down in Somerset with the artist Rob Heard and an ITN news crew. I had one of those little mikes to wear, and the correspondent and I sat on the sofa for a long time, talking about WWI and my family involvement, interspersed with lots of interruptions from 2 very elderly Labradors wandering into shot, and being interrupted mid-sentence so that the camera man could change angles, or move a light. And lots of repeating the same thing, having to pretend it was the first time you'd said it, rather than the 3rd or 4th!
It was a really fascinating experience. Plus I was given one of the pieces the artist has made, and have been invited to lay it as the final one at the opening ceremony on the 7th! Very exciting.
Plus, travelling back from Taunton railway station, I got to take advantage of ITN's dollar, in the form of a Starbucks dinner.
If you want to see me on the telly, it'll be ITV on the 7th or 8th Nov. I should be able to say which one nearer the time.
Managed to get a train an hour earlier than anticipated, which meant home at about 9:15, rather than 10:15. Didn't sleep very well though, too buzzing after my excitement. So I'll wander down to Waitrose for the free coffee shortly, as I need to buy milk anyway... Also thought I might treat myself to a chippy tea tonight.Because it's fun to have money!

....aldi caramel buttons,,,,
4rse... that's something I've managed to blank out/ignore. I've not spotted those available before ..... will now be keeping an eye out.
They're now on the "Hanker after" list ....
Just done the 8am "4ldi opening time/see if there are any YS items" run. Not a great haul at all.
I bought bread rolls, full price - and chocolate digestives full price.
I dithered over picking up 2.5Kg of spuds as I've only just got through the last bag, but decided to give them a miss today.
Bit of a small YS haul, stuff that's "meh, OK".... TWO pizzas. £1.69 normally, I got a chicken cajun one and an American hot one. https://www.aldi.co.uk/cajun-chicken-american-hot-pizza/p/071729221317001
So, two pizzas is technically four portions. We'll see how I go with that
If I freeze one I'd cut it in half first, but which one to eat, which one to freeze??
As it's Friday, I might just get all gung-ho about portion sizes and simply slide an entire pizza into the oven... cook it and nibble the lot. I might not eat it all in the first sitting... but any LOs would be nibbled later in the evening no doubt.0 -

D
You'll have to let us know Flubberyzing:)
Sympathies re the re-takes. I've had one (very brief) interview on tv and it was more than a little annoying just how many times the darn interviewer "started over" asking a question (for no good reason I could see). My impression of his competence (or otherwise) wasn't very high by Time No 10?/ 20? when he finally managed it...:cool:0 -
PN- I will look for those pizza next time, they sound like dgson would enjoy. I did get the aldi pepperoni ones normally around 99p which were on offer 69?? I think. So I picked up 2. I usually have them in as a just incase he's here midweek.
As Friday when he comes is curry night:j So tonight is chicken dopiaza. I picked up some chimichuri beef steaks for Sunday. Third off then got discount off. Not sure what to have with them yet. Possibly wedges or jacket pots.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -

I don't "rate" those pizzas, to be honest - although they're cheap. Given a bigger budget I'd head for the Sainsbury's ones that are about £2.20 (on sainsburys site search for stonebaked pizza, look for £2-2.25 and sitting on a black polystyrene base covered in cling film). They stopped doing my favourite flavour though.
They're just "a cheapish pizza", nothing to write home about at all, to be honest... just "food". Don't go out of your way.
The King of "cheapISH pizzas" is Asda's "build your own", round about £4-4.50, where you tell them what you want and the staff make it in front of you. Sainsburys do something like that, but their staff are "odd looking" and "vacant in the eyes", so too offputting for me to have ever dared attempt a successful purchase of those0 -
Woke up in time to nip downstairs & over ride the thermostat before I "needed" to get up, blooming colder today, but sun's out,
maybe a frost tonight, bye bye begonias, you did me proud:)
L's fail this morning, ginger beer, no sign of it, same for lots of stuff, full of Christmas items now., and no YS. Managed to get another bunch of raw beetroot, incorrectly marked as on offer, but they let me have them at the last weeks offer price once I spotted the error at checkout;) Only right, and hardly going to break them, or me come to that
I think I'll have to venture into the new super L's in town, don't fancy it but I'll choose a quite mid week morning
Last night's savoury mince thing turned out well, shame about the disgusting cast iron pot I'm left with. Now in soak until I really have nothing better to do apart from stab myself in the eyes with needles :rotfl:
Not sure where I saw it mentioned, but it triggered me into trying some of £land Tobler*ne knock off, Twin Peaks. It is really nice & too moreish. I can see that on my Christmas list
Lunch was last of the corned beef and cooked beetroot, followed by final cold mangy bit of LO YS Hawaiian pizza:o
Dinner is more LOs, one cold sausage, LO roast spuds & assorted LO cold veggies
I'm going to fry that lot and sort of make omelette with it, grate some cheese on and call it frittataPasturesNew wrote: »The King of "cheapISH pizzas" is Asda's "build your own", round about £4-4.50, where you tell them what you want and the staff make it in front of you. LOL at that description, I have this vision now of zombie like creatures lurking at the pizza countersEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
L's fail this morning, ginger beer, no sign of it...
I've been looking/watching since July - most days it's been an empty space... then they started using the space for other things and I wondered if it were a product they'd no longer be stocking.
It's only reappeared in mine this week .... so keep looking .... they've an amount of "catch up" to do rolling it out across the country again.
It disappeared in July when there was that CO2 shortage being reported... so probably had to restart production and start stocking the warehouse, so it might take a week or two to get everywhere.0 -
I started with good intentions. I got the two pizzas out of the fridge and started to open one to cut it in half and only eat half today... and I'd decided to cut the other one in half too, thereby freezing three halves and cooking one.
But as I plucked at the tight fitting clingfilm wrap of the first I thought "bugg4h this, this will just be a faff and messy and I CBA", so I'll be cooking a whole one tonight (might wrap up leftover/cooked slices for later/tomorrow) - and the second one will also be cooked whole at some future point, at which point I can choose whether to wrap some slices up, or eat the whole thing.
It's not easy cutting pizzas in half and wrapping/freezing half as it all gets a bit messy and faffy.
I didn't really "choose" which one to eat tonight - as I'd started cutting open one package, that's the one for tonight. So it'll be cajun chicken tonight ... and the American/hot one's in the freezer.0
