Good afternoon everyone,
You certainly can portion up cooked chicken and freeze, I do it alll the time Novice. Using up stuff is a perpetual CFO problem it would seem so you are certainly not alone in that.
My son returned home before midnight, saving himself for the main event today I think;), he's staying with a pal in Glasgow so no need to hurry for the last train. I suspect he'll be wanting a quiet day tomorrow.:rotfl::rotfl:
The snuffles have headed into full blown cold mode:( but hopefully it start to recede now my nose is running rather than blocked! Brunch was a cheese & mushroom omelette with toast which I really enjoyed. I've chicken thigh defrosting to roast woith veg for dinner tonight.0 -
I just went for a walk for almost 2 hours and got some chips from the chip shop on the way home. :A
I will have to have the tofu stir fry for dinner instead.Last night's dinner was the LO half of C & O flan, with an orphan & lonely spud I chipped in the Actifry,
I keep thinking about buying an Actifry.0 -

I bet they've pretty much disappeared now and "been gentrified", with the associated Bistro Style, hand cooked, locally produced, vegetarian/vegan society approved organic fare ... and 3-4x the price
I've just checked one that used to be magnificent... it's now, as expected, "all poshed up" with no pies/quiches and shovels of chips for sale... but paninis with fillings (5-7), salad bowls (£8) and cappuccino (£3) (I had to look up how to spell that, so far is it from my life/knowledge). It used to be more "canteen style" with 3 hot main courses served from those big metal dishes dropped into a hot water bed to keep them warm... followed by veggies/chips etc... and helping yourself to an assortment of cakes from the display stands ... or ending up having a hot sponge dessert with custard... 2 courses typically £6 for heaps of food...
Oh, small print says "specials board" ... "from £8", so that's not too shabby... although it depends what they're offering... and, really, it's still "a bit pricey". I bet that's priced out the "little old ladies that'd shuffle to visit the Cathedral, then have a little hot lunch before shuffling home to feed their cat".
The Chichester one still retains the "Olde Worlde" style, but not olde worlde prices, but the little old ladies in Chichester are often National Treasures like Judy Dench / Maggie Smith playing at the theatre, or live locally
I have been known to go for the + a pud option, £12.50 from memory, and really more than I could comfortably eat, I stick to main course only now
Wednesday - Actifry, not sure I'd replace mine, but if you find a cheap one worth a go. I don't do anything exotic in mine even though one can, mine's just chips & bangers really, but I've worktop space & it can bung in the dishwasher so not a problem for me, probably easier than putting in the oven
Chips on the way home, eaten out of the paper on way home? love that, years since I've done it, looking as I do I'd probably get done for vagrancy:)
Spuds & broccoli prepped. I'll also roast some carrots & a red onion along with the bangers.
Steam the broccoli, if it was cauliflower I'd roast that as well, probably could roast the broccoli but with my tum greens have to be thoroughly cooked to mushy death:(Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I waited until I was at home to eat the chips as I wanted Heinz ketchup on them! I did eat them from the paper though, didn't bother with a plate!:D2025 GOALS

....
the + a pud option, £12.50 ...
I've never understood the "all you can eat" offers... £9 for one course, or £13 for two.
The MSE in me says "just have one course, it's all you can eat ... £9... else you're paying £13 for all you can eat". They're a bit of a con for the value-savvy types
You can't come out any more full ....0 -

It's not "all you can eat" help yourself style, but not stingy portions, the sort of portions you'd give yourself if no one was looking:)Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

At my house .... nobody IS ever looking
Talking of which - food - darn it - I've got to dream up something more/else to cook now haven't I, for tea. It's never-ending!
Might "treat" myself and get a takeaway. Trouble is, it's not a treat now is it; it's now occurring quite frequently, so it's now a "little habit" .... still might do it though, because I'm worth it
Just checked... last purchased one 7 October, so only two weeks since then.... this will probably be the 4th indian in under 2 months.0 -
Many thanks, all. I'll get on with bagging it up and putting it in the freezer!0

I've been spending far too much on takeaways (JustEat is a danger these days) when i can't be bothered to cook. I'm trying to ban myself from using it as it always seems to cost £15 a time - admittedly this is usually for two meals worth as i can usually save half the rice and curry for the next day, but still expensive for two meals!
I can actually cook curry from scratch so i should be ashamed.... :rotfl:
If anybody wants some real, authentic, curry recipes look at http://www.thismuslimgirlbakes.com/
The curry recipes are the exact same my mum used to make.0
