    It is indeed:)
  • The flu jab went fine, and I think I managed to get the only dry hour of the day for my journey! Just as I was arriving home, it started to drizzle again!
Chatting to the pharmacist during my appointment, she said it's always wise to come in for the jab as soon as you can, because the virus peaks in around November, and it takes about 3 weeks for you to get your immunity built up. So... To be ready for the first week in November... You need to be getting jabbed the first week of October, in a perfect world.
It always causes me some muscle pain in the couple of days after. I just take a couple of ibuprofen to take the edge off. Never seem to get any fluey symptoms, touch wood.

Todays plan is to just pack my bag for the two nights away. I've had two emails from my mum now, reminding me to bring my wellies! Lord knows what she's got planned!
Typically, she has no idea what time she and her sis will arrive at the hotel, but says she'll call me when they're "close" (I'm 40 minutes away myself). Dinner is booked for 6pm, so irregardless, I'll head off about 5pm.

Have a good weekend, all! I've still got most of a punnet of grapes in the fridge. So I'm going to try and polish them off before heading out.
Because it's fun to have money!

    Good morning everyone,
Enjoy your time away flubberyzing and don't forget your wellies https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SguYlpm3ffQ :rotfl:
It's cold & wet here today - definitely welly weather;)
Hope folk are out of the path of Bronagh or well battened down.
I need to pop to the library later but it will be door to door in a taxi and thankfully I've no errands I need to do when I'm in town.
I'm still undecided about what to have for dinner tonight, lunch willl be pea & ham soup from the freezer.
  • LOL Caron - national dress = wellington boots. In this area - it's umbrellas designed to stand up to heavy winds or think of an alternative to umbrellas. Come to think of it - I don't notice many umbrellas in use at all here - so guess most people here do use "alternatives" then. Recent clothes-buying spree had me feeling I'd better not buy any replacements for trainers that had white soles either (thinking of the frequent walking in muddy places here) - so black soles it was.

Re food - I do eat eggs. So have been checking out a Slimming World syn free gravy recipe (takes 30-40 minutes:eek:) thinking of PN's idea of a stuff yorkshire pudding as a possible meal to have over the weekend.

Too windy for brollies here mainly ...... Hats, hoods or braving it!
Trip to the library has been postponed until tomorrow as I forgot it is a local holiday today & Monday. Glad I remembered before I went:)
Today is "Ladies Day" at the races - reckon some "blingy" wellies and thermal vests under the frocks may be needed:rotfl:. That said it's dried up now but not warmed up.
I'm still not decided about dinner tonight I'm swithering between a spinach & egg curry or some kind of bean or lentil stew after mentioning them yesterday. (Or if I hit cba mode I've keema curry or squash & black bean chilli in the freezer;))

Last night I was fed.... sausages/mash/veggies/gravy .... and I mentioned how lovely that'd also be served in a big yorkie... :)

Back in early May I picked up a YS/half price 400g pack of cubed beef and froze it. Dragged it out (was actually looking for mince I thought I had, but I had no mince) ... and put it in the SC 30 minutes ago (still frozen, CBA to defrost it) ... on high. Once that's defrosted/started cooking, I'll toss in a pouch of sauce. From the cupboard I had a SC lamb curry pouch which I was "gifted" when somebody had a turf out about 18 months ago and I'd never got round to it.

So ... half price beef + pouch of lamb curry sauce = dinner later, with basmati.

Lunch, in the meantime, will be chocolates as I bought a bag of my favourites last night :) They've so far been breakfast, elevenses ... and I'll probably end up having eaten the whole 200-250g bag by the time that curry's ready, which will be about 6-7ish.

Re giant Yorkies... if I could buy them locally I would just do that as they only take 4-5 minutes in the oven .... but they're not sold everywhere these days and they do take up a lot of freezer space, so need to be bought pretty close to when they'd be eaten. My own are much better ... but it's a faff just to do it "just because you can" and cost-wise there is little difference if you can pick them up at the right price.

I just looked up shops/prices on mysupermarket for Giants:

Asda, own brand, 40p each (currently 3 for £1). 30p/100g
    Asda, Aunt B's, £1.50 for 2 in a pack. 65p/100g

    Tesco, own brand, 2 in a pack, £1. 45p/100g
    Tesco, Aunt B's, £1.25 for 2 in a pack. 54p/100g

    Sains, Aunt B's, £1.65 for 2 in a pack (currently £1.25/pack). 54p/100g

    Morries, own brand, 40p (currently 3 for £1). 30p/100g
    Morries, Aunt B's, £1 for 2 in a pack. 43p/100g

Not showing listed at other stores - except Ocado have Aunt B's usually £1.50 for a 2 pack (currently £1/pack). 40p/100g.

My nearest supermarket is pricey Sainsbobs - that have no own brand of these, hence my inability to buy them locally.
  • I had baked beans on wholemeal toast today and a few spoonfuls of strawberry Alpro yoghurt and a cup of tea. I feel very full!:D
