Had to smile at PN falling asleep post curry, I think we can all relate to that one way or the other, not post curry for me though

I had a nice kip, in my pit though not the armchair, catching up on the previous night I assume

I'll be out shopping in a bit, I wasn't going to but need some fresh air & a mooch, plus look in Wilko just in case any cheap seeds left

Yesterday's piggy mode continued last night, a bag of crisps went down the hatch during the evening

    Breakfast usual porridge etc

Dinner, once again was thinking of a salad, but clouding over now and maybe think not "right weather", let's see what the mooch turns up, plenty of time to decide

Cloudy but nice here in the great metrolops. Heading out for a walk through local park then it will be North African style scrambled egg for brunch and and aubergine pasta bake for dinner.

    Good morning everyone,
LOL re falling asleep post-takeaway PN, I can certainly relate to doing that;).
Windy and showery here today and decidedly chilly. There was a gap in the showers so I nipped out and picked beans and tomatoes. Loads more toms ripe and more than enough runners & broad beans for dinner tonight.
Scotch egg again for lunch to use the pack up and braised steak with onions, garden veg & mash for dinner. I'm also going to make a pot of pea & ham soup, a pan of mash and passatta. I'm looking forward to an afternoon pottering in the kitchen while listening to the radio:). When I worked Sunday afternoons tended to be when I prepped as much as could for meals during the week and while I don't need to do that now I still enjoy spending time in the kitchen if the weather isn't good:D.
  • I think we've all done the thing of falling asleep in front of the telly after a good feed!!

After yesterdays murky/rainy weather, today has brighten up a bit, but it looks like a cold wind! Glad I'm sheltering in today!

Went to have my yoghurt for breakfast and realised it expired on Friday. Still ate it though! All fine! There is one more left, and I'll probably have it for supper.
For lunch I had part 2 of yesterday's pizza, which has filled me up well. I'll probably do soup for tea, as not enough milk left for cereal (there's just enough left for another coffee if I want one mid-afternoon), and I'm not going out today. I have assembled a shopping list for Lidl tomorrow and milk is on there!

I can report that my damaged foot from yesterday is still very tender... I put my crocs on first thing, to take some recycling out, and ouch!! Any pressure on it hurts. It feels fine to walk on, just in my slippers, but shoes were clearly a no-no and it hurts to touch.
Strangely, nothing really to see on the outside, but I suspect there's a deep bruise in there that'll come out over the next week. I normally bruise really easily. Fortunately, I'm as certain as I can be that nothing is broken, so it should be better fairly quickly! Silly me!

Have a good afternoon/evening all! I think I'll cozy up with my book for a bit. In a perfect world, I'd have a bar of choc to join me, but there isn't any!! Oh well.

The weather improved, sunny & warm while I was out mooching this morning

The mooching paid off, dinner solved, found YS smoked peppered mackerel in Asda, it will go well with the planned salad. I'll have a baked spud with that, I fancy mash but CBA to cook some, and I've run out of packet stuff.

And the Wilko clearance seed sale was just too much temptation. I've already sown some parsley in a pot since I got home, inspired by Caron to use more in cooking

Lunch was ham & salad sandwich, followed by two of my figs. I think Autumn is coming very soon, the fig leaves are yellowing

Quick potter, took some rose cuttings, noticed my garlic chives are in flower, very late, must be the recent rain giving them a kick
And, hooray, found the clematis I thought had snuffed it is still alive, rain again

Plus, mushrooms growing in the garden, not toadstools. Too chicken to try them but they certainly look just like the ones you find in the shops. I didn't get to my age by eating fungi I find growing wild

Breakfast of two bits of toast with 1/4 tin of beans (it'd have been 1/3rd, but the last portion I took was a bit much, leaving under a 1/3rd portion and it wasn't worth opening a new tin.

Popped up to 4ldi for some essentials shopping (out of brown sauce, out of eggs, low on beans, low on coffee, low on squash drink) .... came home with some "easy peelers" (wish they'd say if they're satsumas, clementines, or other), choc covered peanuts, bar of milk chocolate, pack of choc digestives and a half price beef hot pot that I'll eat later.

Also spotted that 4ldi are selling oven bottom muffins, always chose those at 4sda, so bought a pack of four (51p) instead of my usual big bread rolls (49p).

Just scoffed two easy peelers.... they didn't touch the sides :)

Luckily managed to "queue jump" - everybody in front of me had a massive trolley filled to the gills with food and the announcer said "we are opening till number...." and my toes were ready for the sprint :) got there first.

I would stay away from the mushrooms Farway sometimes it's the ones that look harmless are the most harmful

Well I seem to have brought a Cornish cold back with me :( started with a scratchy thoat yesterday morning which I hoped was my sister's dog but I woke up 5am coughing and wheezing, I suppose could have been worst I could have got it 2 weeks ago

Whilst I was up I made the most of a nearly empty fridge and cleaned it, and then rose from my sick couch to go to SM 2pm, I didn't expect it to be so manic , I almost walked out and left my shopping. When I was packing the car I heard a women screaming and cursing out of her car window that some man had just stolen her car parking space, and when she had problems parking in another he shouted across and offered to do it for her :rotfl: key more swearing. Not sure if it was a good example for her kids in the car :(

No appetite so late lunch was a cornetto and dinner will probably be chicken soup

    Good evening everyone,
    Hope fubberyzing's foot & Brambling's cold ease overnight <<hugs>>
Good luck with parsley growing Farway, it's a handy wee herb to have to hand:).
Carbooting PN after all your decluttering:eek::rotfl:
We've had horrific rain & wind squalls and rumbles of thunder :(. As always when the weather's like this it's knocked my balance off, consequently in the last hour I have knocked a full cup of tea against a glass of water and soaked myself as well as the surrounding area, dripped passatta over the floor and missed my mouth taking the first sip of a restorative glass of red:mad::eek:. I'm going to be very, very careful transferring the soup I made earlier to the fridge once it is cool;).
Soggy towels are in the washing machine, I'm in dry clothes and the floor & counter have been wiped, fingers crossed for no more spillages tonight.
Braised steak & onions are simmering nicely and as I made a batch of mash earlier just some garden veg to prep for dinner. The pea & ham soup smells brilliant :D but needs a bit longer to cook or else I would have been tempted to nab a bowlful and have the steak tomorrow. I'll finish cooking it in the morning as I took it off the heat a wee while ago so it would be cool enough to chill this evening.

Yesterday, from memory, my total intake was:
    - beans on toast
    - a packet of crisps
    - a whole pack of chocolate covered peanuts
    - 3 chocolate digestives
    - a ready meal beef hotpot.

Today there'll be beans on toast ... might have scrambled eggs on that, not sure until it happens.
  • Morning all!

I was up with larks and it was raining then, but now the sun seems to be making an attempt to come out! I had some tinned peaches for breakfast, as nothing else in the house to have! I shall venture out to Lidl for 9am-ish.

Got to find the best shoes for the job, as my foot is still just as tender. It was starting to come out with a good blue bruise last night, but that has faded a bit over night. No doubt it'll be back! I'll probably try my old pair of UGGs, as they are like glorified slippers anyway!

I've got a smallish list of basics for Lidl. I've got a sandwich out of the freezer for lunch, and I'll have that with a banana later.

For dinner I've got 2 sausages out defrosting... Perhaps it's me, but I don't think defrosted sausages are very tasty... I've got 2 more frozen ones after these, but then I'm not sure what I'll do. There's just something about them that doesn't work for me. But I'll eat them, because food waste is something I avoid if I possibly can!
