I can't get my head round this idea of savoury bread and butter pudding. You are a bunch of heretics. Bread and butter pudding should be soaked for at least an hour before baking, deliciously sweet and crispy on top, with sultanas hidden in the eggy depths.
I'm going to have to make one, you have forced me into it. :):):)

I will admit being more a sweet fan as well :D I like marmalade on the bread and butter and brandy or rum in the custard :D if I'm feeling decadent :rotfl:

Caronc your mortgage company need a kick up the bum

Nice day today walking around the Lost Gardens of Heligan we've been before but enjoy walking around again, 15000 steps (10km) walked so I'm sitting with cuppa tea on the balcony and we're debating whether to walk along the beach before dinner, I may need my second wind first as I find the driving tiring. I was organised last night and cooked a chilli ready for tonight so we won't have to cook :)

It seems my timid cat has decided my sister and nephew aren't so frightening after all I'm receiving regular photos of cat on knees and cuddling up to them, I'm not sure if I'll have a cat when I get home as my sister has asked where his carrier is  I'm happy as it means he is also coming in when called and is getting company.

    Enjoy your curry Flubberyzing

  • LOL at the cat - he knows which side his bread is buttered - or his cat food bowl filled to be more accurate:rotfl: What a hussy - transferring his affections so readily:rotfl:

Dinner here ready in a minute - 2nd portion of a sorta "stew" I made - to be eaten with baked potato (with a bit of quark "moistening" it - in lieu of a hefty dob of butter:(). Oh well....the clothes are getting looser - so it's worth it.

Been filling up this afternoon with a couple of hardboiled eggs, then some frozen grapes. It does help to get a nice little "flavour pop" in your mouth eating them straight from the freezer like that.

Today I've scoffed, 2 pieces of bread and marg, 3 chocolate digestives, about 10 chocolate sweeties ... and I just made/ate a sausage sandwich with the last of the brown sauce.

That might be it for today.
  • Today's dinner was 6 chicken nuggets, beans and broccoli. Surprisingly filling!!

    Good evening everyone,

LOL re the puss Brambling sounds as though he knows who to sook up to when you're not there.:rotfl::rotfl:
MTSTM - thought of you today when I put on a pair of jeans I'd not worn months which I know were a good fit as they were decidedly loose. Gawds knows why as I've eaten loads over the summer and certainly not low cal/fat/carb must be the gardening.....

Mortgage company has been given the relevant kick, in fairness everyone I spoke to has been really helpful, refreshingly honest and I think they are as puzzled as I am:eek:. Spoke to a lovely guy on their "technical team", there would seem to be a gremlin that is faulting when the month changes despite the fix they put in. All looks ok for this month's payment, so assuming it gets taken ok they will take my record off line and rebuild. So fingers crossed.
I got a good bit done outdoors- more clearing and pansy potting. After earlier frustrations, suffice to say after I get things concluded one local business will no longer have me as a customer, I enjoyed a bit of mindless time in the fresh air. Feel much calmer now and have just poured a small glass of red;).
Picked a good handful of french, dwarf and runner beans to use for dinner. I think that will definitely be the last of the dwarf ones and possibly the french but there are lots of tiny baby runners so will hopefully get more of those. :)
Dinner tonight is going to be a sort of chinesey rice hot pot with lots of garlic & ginger for a bit of oomph. I'll scramble an egg through it at the last minute. Hugely inauthentic, will look like slop but should taste good. It will be a bowl and spoon job while catching up on "Celebrity Masterchef" on i-player:D

Losing weight has got to be good news Caron. Losing weight when not even deliberately trying to is mega good news:D

I can't imagine you'd have been able to do that heavy duty a level of gardening with your balance problems?? So that's pretty good going.

I have another theory on this - ie they say the stress hormone cortisol is a weight-gainer. I wonder if no longer doing your job means you might be producing less of that? (even though you didnt hate your job like I did mine). I guess its possible?

One time before when I lost weight without trying in the slightest - ie I found I'd dropped three-quarters of a stone and was a dress size smaller coincided with a period of my life when I was walking to/from town 2-3 times a day pretty much every day - so I'd say that was 3 miles or so "return journey" x 2 or 3 times daily.

Well - I had my dinner of (quorn) sausage and vegetable stew and baked potatoes and left half of it - as it just wasnt appealing enough to finish unless I was actually still hungry - and I wasnt.

EDIT; Just done quick check on Googlemaps and it was 1.8 miles each way to the destination I was most likely to be walking to at that period in my life. So I'd hazard a guess I was doing 7-10 miles a day many days.

I made the bread and butter puding and it was so delicious that I scoffed the lot. If the scales break tomorrow I will blame you lot.

    Gotcha!!
    :)

That is the problem, you do have to scoff the lot .... then undo your jeans and lie back on the sofa dreaming up other combinations that'll work :)

The other week I stupidly bought a bag of frozen chicken breasts.... and now have to eat them all. Well, they won't get eaten if I just think about them, so I've just popped one into a plastic takeaway box in the fridge to defrost.

Tomorrow I will be having a chicken dinner... no idea what yet. There will be chicken, yorkshires, stuffing, gravy and some mixed veg I also bought at the same time as the chicken. I've got 3 spuds, bakers, so one of those might become mash.

I've really got food overload, hard to work your way through everything - and to stop yourself buying more food when out ... because once things are at home and/or in the freezer they're "out of sight, out of mind".

One bag of frozen chicken breasts can live in the freezer for a year as a CFO slowly gets through them one breast at a time....

Selling the house, I need to clear down the freezer entirely - and, house sale position depending, then just buy little to go in there, or revert to ready meals so nothing goes in there.

NO - no heavy -duty anything for me these days. Tbh 2017 was probably one of the most stressful years of my life as I was desperately trying to get back to work and then all the uncertainities over retiring so I wouldn't be surprised if that was a factor. That, the good weather and for the first time in a couple of years fully enjoying the garden. No matter what I'm not complaining and it will give me a bit of lee-way for winter gain ;):)
