I am glad I don`t have grass but I re-filled 2 water butts with tap water this time, I have to keep things watered for the photos, I think in 2 weeks, earlier than I will be selling but the garden should look good. Yes pn I would definitely water the grass and in the evening

plastic bucket pn, punch several holes at the bottom and walkaround the lawn and it needs a good soak at one session, just a bit of watering does more harm than good. If the water runs over the top then get a garden fork and make holes in the lawn

Oh s0ddin' round danglies.. just when I was "enjoying" the fact the weeds were easier to pick out of it ... and I didn't have to cut it.

I'll go do it now then... I'll toss some buckets of water in its general direction. Garden's on a slope, so I only need do half the lawn as it'll run off into the lower half :)

Not all of it's "as bad" as some ... some is still green, where it's had more shade.

EDIT 8.35: Back. I'm not very good at that.... no hose, no watering can, so just used a small flexi bucket. First lot I "walked" along, tipping the water out a bit slowly. Second lot I was bored of that, so stood back and lobbed the lot across the grass. Then I CBA to wait for the flexi bucket to refill, so I ran a series of 2 buckets and kept the tap running on slow, then went back/forth lobbing 3" of water at a time at bits here and there.

That'll have to do I guess...

Previous owners "left" a hose, which I've never used.... just found out why - it's got a hole - and I've no gaffer tape. I'll get gaffer tape tomorrow and bung that round and see if the hose works. Actually, for now, I'll give some cheap parcel tape a quick go....

EDIT 8.45: Well, that worked, in a fashion - I didn't turn the tap on very much, so the water was dribbling out of the end of the pipe... and the hose didn't reach the end of the garden, so I was flicking the hose up and down like an 8 year old trying to pee highest up the wall.... the hose had a few more/minor leaks, but, with the water pressure down, it at least did a good little job. I'm sure the purist would've said "and you need to stand there for 20-30 minutes to give it a good soaking"... but I figure "Hey, I did something, that still makes me ahead".

That's probably the first ever time I have ever watered a lawn in my life! What a palava.
As they say "Every little helps" :D. gaffer tape sounds like a good idea as it will benefit from a good soak that can be hard to do without a hose..

Grass definitely doesn't have to be watered and will grow back.

We'll need to agree to disagree on that one :)

    Good morning everyone,

A large flock of very happy and very noisy starling fledglings woke me just before 5am. They were chirping their little hearts out and were a joy to watch:D but I wish they had just waited another hour or so before starting.
Looks as though it will be another fab day and I hope to get some more tidying of "grot corner" done while that bit is still in the shade:).
I took a chicken crown out to defrost last night so I can SC it today. I've just realised it is stuffed but I do like a chicken & stuffing sandwich so I'll have it hot with new spuds & veg tonight and use the rest for lunches.

I did that, in error, last year. Thought I'd bought a chicken (breast joint) and it turned out to be stuffed. I only realised when it was nearly cooked too... I did it in the SC.

I wasn't looking forward to it once I'd realised and was annoyed at myself.... but when I tasted it I thought "OMG that's lovely - I might do that for Xmas dinner instead of turkey". In the end I did get turkey though (because it's Xmas), but the stuffed chicken was lovely (mine was the £2.49 frozen L1dl one, yours is probably posher so, by default, should taste even better).

I'd have liked to have heard those words last night, before I went to any effort ... although, in reality, I'd have still watered it just because I had two conflicting ideas.

I had today "planned" in my head; it involved going out to a couple of shops for a couple of things and doing a big round robin of two distant car boot sales ... but .... I'm still ill.

It's gone all chesty/phlegmy and I had a rotten night too... so I've sacked off that idea as I can't guarantee a clear head to be able to make correct driving choices in heavy traffic.

I have enough food for a siege ... except I have no "nice big bread rolls" and only 2 slices of bread (2 days out of date)... which is a shame. I could go out and get bread or rolls.... but I can't really think straight enough to do that... if the shops were open now I'd go...but it's Sunday, so having to wait until 10am, when the roads are chocca and people are everywhere is just "too much".

I might toss some cheese/onion/tomato and similar at a tortilla as a pizza later... or I might not. Who knows....

I remember when you did it. Mine isn't "posher" by any means though I did stuff & tie it myself using the breasts from a whole chicken I had bought.:)
Sounds as though you need to rest up for a few days and hopefully your cold will lift.
