One day .... kittie will eat food I understand/know
I fancy a bit of ice cream now! Off to stick it on the worktop to thaw out a little for as long as I can bear to wait it out...
EDIT: Put it out, did the washing up, then thought "oh s0d it, I'll give it a go anyway" so hacked out some tiny bits..... that'll do.0 -
Been putting in some hefty work in the garden again today.
So dinner was a bit of tomato & veg sauce type stuff hauled out of the freezer, cooked rice hauled out of the freezer and a few leftover boiled new potatoes. Followed by some of my last years stewed apple with Oatly "cream" and cacao nibs.
Shattered again. Part of my reasoning re doing some of the work I'm doing on the garden is to make it easier to manage (but still attractive and productive). It's probably just as well I took the view I couldn't wait any longer for a house that would do for the rest of my life if need be - and one of my reasons was wondering if I'd have the strength/energy/etc to do necessary work on the house if I had to wait much longer for it.0 -
Well, that didn't go too well ...
Decided to just eat all the chocolate ice cream, rather than continuing to faff about melting it bit by bit....
So I ate the lot. Didn't enjoy it, to be honest - wasn't enamoured of it from the start. But I did it anyway.... because somebody has to eat it and it's down to me to eat everything that comes into the house.
So I ate it .... and, before too long, I nodded off.
Been invited out for my tea tonight ... so not having to think about food too much today. I'm out of bread and eggs, so nothing for breakfast that's interesting.
Cool/overcast here. I'm putting off painting as I hate it.0 -
Good afternoon everyone,
I've a few hours to myself as my elder son has popped for lunch with my nephew and is then heading to Glasgow for the evening. My younger son hopes to arrive about 5pm as he has a half day.
The weather is still gorgeous so I plan to have a snooze and then garden for a bit.:D
Lunch was a CFO "special" aka LOs from last night's pasta:). I've no idea about dinner tonight yet!
Lamb, pork & chicken are all in the fridge to defrost for Sunday's bbq, I do hope it stays dry & sunny as the forecast is a bit undecided.0 -
Afternoon Folks
Another Friday trundles along, me into L's on way to volunteering, nothing YS worth bothering with, but did remember to get another jar of gherkins, and a tin of salmon, I was thinking about salad at the time
However with my non planned meal plans today I finished up in the chippy on the way home, thus lunch was cod & chips, usual huge pile of chips & whale sized cod, too big really but like PN, if it comes into the house it has to be used;)
Dinner, no idea due to unplanned jumbo lunch, most likely a sandwich or something on toast
Bit close and dull out but I may just water the plant tubs after my cuppa & GQT on radio 4Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
GQT listened to, tea slurped, plants watered, wild strawberry eaten, it was a bit sharp, half bag of rotted horse poo put around my struggling rhubarb, hoping for tree trunks next year
That's it, still stuffed from Fish & chips & no idea for food later if I ever get hungry againEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
If I were a fish eater - which we know these days I'm not (fish with a side-helping of plastic particles = no thanks) =
I'd probably just take the batter off the surplus bit of the fish and put the "stripped" fish into the fridge and do something with it like cooking it up in a white sauce and having as the basis of something else. I've been known to do that sort of thing before - on the basis of "waste not, want not".
As for me - I've had another day of some hard physical labour in the garden and I'm definitely feeling the worse for it (I ache noticeably....) and I've done a bit of voluntary work. So it's cheat time and I'm just about to put some stuffed mushrooms from Aldi into the oven and have some steamed new potatoes with them. Think some frozen peas would be suitable accompaniment. I woulda gone for tomatoes - but I'm right out of them and Aldi didnt have any organic ones. Tomatoes being one of the things I insist on buying organic - so I'll have to do without until I see my chance of buying some elsewhere.0 -

Last day of proper work for a week, although I was arm twisted into helping out tomorrow but I can do that from home and I managed to get a couple of big tasks finished before going home tonight :T It would have been better if I haven't got caught in traffic from the south of England show but you can't have everything. I'm hoping to go away for a few days next week with a friend but her life is a little complicated at the moment so it may not happen. If it doesn't I've decided to still take the week off (the boss was happy if I wanted to go to work ) and tackle the back garden, all this talk of gardening by you lot is motivating me to carry out some heavy pruning and my regular fight with brambles from next doors jungle.
The 'too' hot chicken curry from Wednesday dinner made my stomach sensitive, I haven't been ill it has just been tenderso food has been a little light the last couple days and the last two portions of curry have gone in bin. Lunch was a ham and cheese wrap and dinner was chicken salad, I got some YS cooked chicken today 60p instead of £2.40 in Waitrose

enjoy your week brambling
I had indigestion in the night, started early evening and I know what it was. I had a gin and tonic, drat it was a lovely drink but so not worth it if that happens. I have to put a little alcohol between my metal ice cream bowl and the freezer bowl, so that is where it will be used in future, looks as though that and my good brandy will both go the same way, will take me years but they aren`t going down the sink. I hardly drink as it is, so won`t miss them and the stored tonics will just go, could also be the fizz added to the alcohol
Breakfast was soaked amaranth and oats with sliced strawberries. I made more soya milk last night. I only use 35g of organic soy beans in about 800ml of filtered water. I prefer it a bit thinner. The beans cost £3.90 for a kilo from amazon. It costs me 14p for that much and it keeps well in the fridge. The rm soyamilk (sojade) costs £1.49 a litre. No contest for me, although I keep a couple of spare tetra packs in for justin.
I am going to make poached egg on stir fried swiss chard later and have a bit of that rye bread I made. Useless recipe, was very sticky but I managed to slice it and have to eat it toasted, tastes fine but rye needs strong wholemeal at least, one of my favourite breads is rye and wholemeal
Main meal turkey and salad and tea time gooseberries, granola and yoghurt
The hm ice cream is wonderful, lovely on the rhubarb crumble. Really it is just a mix of double cream and rich hm custard so little does me nicely. I am going to explore cheesecake bases made from ground almonds today. I can see me just putting an easy ricotta topping on, with strawberries. I would love a big juicy peach but try to avoid them as far too sugary and non native anyway, so might make an AnC order for next week, to help me to avoid temptation0 -
Yesterday's lunch was 2 chocolate digestives as a starter, cheesy mash and beans for the main course and 2 chocolate digestives for afters
Then I had my tea at a friend's last night, lovely it was
2 courses.
Full now!
I've no bread... so the usual breakfast can't happen. I'll just have to see what I fancy/what I've got later on. Until I'm hungry and go hunting for food I've no idea what I'll eat.0
