Yoghurt and banana for breakfast. I had a really long lie in this morning. Lovely.:D
I'm having the other GF pizza base for lunch. I think I will cut it into slices before I bake it as it fell apart a bit yesterday!0 -
For breakfast I went with half a bread roll, toasted + baked beans + scrambled egg.
Found some out of date flu powders, so gave one of those a go.... I'm sure they're fine, only out of date by 5-6 years. I didn't want to "waste" the new ones I bought and remembered I'd had some old ones years ago so found them.0 -
Managed to sneak a bit of garden tidying in, and sowed some Runners in tubes for window sill germination
Then went and made a carrot cake:o It looks scrummy. I'm not icing it, it has plenty of calories already, but also has 4 of my 5 a day in it, carrots of course, plus dates & mixed fruit. Do walnuts count?
Lunch was pork sandwich, used last of HM 2013 apple & blackberry chutney. Another 2 towards the total:)
I'm off to sort out the veg etc for dinner. The C Cake is tempting but I don't want to spoil my dinner by "just trying a slice"In this part of the world that's a phrase that would get you some very strange looks :eek::rotfl::rotfl:
Ooops, never thought of that, means same down here:o
Bit like having a fag in Florida:DEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Washing was done and is almost dry, I need to finish off on the airer.
My sister came and we went to B and Q 20% off plants got my pittosporum, and some Y's daffodil and white primulas, still in perfect shape I will plant in a tub near the door.
Hm gfree pizza for tea, onion, peppers, mushrooms and smoked salmon, with cheese, topped with fresh basil and black pepper.:DFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
Morning all. It's been baltic here so far so not much outdoor work done apart from tidying and planting some hanging baskets. The landscape gardeners (a necessary luxury I'm afraid) have promised faithfully to come next week to cut down trees and bushes on the perimeter. Hopefully it will help them fill out - the trees not the gardeners
- plus if I keep to it, they will be a height I can manage myself in future. I can't really get on with any serious planting till they have been (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).
Up early to cook duck and roasties while on cheap E7. Not quite the same as eating it just done but a good saving on electricity.0 -

Re trees - there is a book out there somewheres - in which the author explains her reasoning behind keeping all fruit trees to a certain height (think it was 8') and not allowing them to go beyond that. She figured the trees would still produce as much food - but it would be easier to get at it to pick it as I recall.
I duly noted that and keep mine trimmed down to that - though they are dual-purpose (ie them being that thicker so to say will help with screening the neighbours properties off that tiny bit more).
Must get my act together and get some seeds started. I've got as far as some vegetable plug plants put in - so sprouting broccoli and kale coming up at some point. The (nicest-tasting I'm told) hosta plant is starting to grow nicely indoors - so must get that out of doors soon (with a copper collar round it - so it's me and not the slugs that get it hopefully). The perennial chicory, two types of sorrel and chives are coming along nicely of themselves. I just hope the rhubarb plant will be okay - with the way they "sink under ground" of a winter I'd forgotten exactly where it was and landed up putting summat on top of its main stem (whoops:o) - as I can tell, now that I've got a few leaves emerging.
Found a new Facebook page of plant-based eating and duly joined. This one is insistent that it will be recipes only and, if people put up a photo of the meal they've just had they must put up the recipe for it. Looks good so far - like people are duly putting up recipes (thankfully - as some of us do get a bit fed-up of asking for the recipes when people on other Facebook pages just put up the photos). So there will probably be another bout of experimenting coming up soon.
Right - it's spring out there again. I feel another walk/bit of an "explore" coming on...0 -
I've just finished breakfast , lo half of small tin of beans with 2 gf toast.
Looks bright out so far, I'm hoping to go in the garden after my cup of tea, plant up my spoils from yesterday.
My niece rang last night she's made a reservation for lunch, and included me, so it looks like I'm out for that! We may call for a couple of drinks too!
Hoping to catch eldest dd, as she will be down to go see her grandad (on ex s side) and was going to call, she's bringing hm pavlova and has done me a small one too! :icotbaskeFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
