Baileys_Babe said:Could you freeze some of the flatbread @PasturesNew?
I'd like it to have: burgers, peas, fish fingers in .... one of those might fit, at a push.... but it's at capacity really.
I bought the flatbreads, cheap, from an out of date/short date shop... I got 36 for £2, 12 packs for £2, so 17p per pack of three. The RRP of them is £1.79. I'm prepared to lose a few, I've had my money's worth.2 -
I think you must have got the worst of the weather PN, it's been really heavy rain on and off for 24hours but no reports of flooding, there are some advantages of home working because there would have been issues on my usual cross country journey which can flood after a heavy rain if the ditches/drains haven't been cleared.
I started to go through the kitchen cupboards and rearranging things lunchtime so the kitchen is still looking very messy. I seem to have a lot of baking supplies and several varieties of sugar 🤔 that has mostly gone back into a cupboard I may have to offload some to my nephew and take a slice or two of cake in payment. I enjoy baking and find it a great way of de-stressing but I've no office kitchen table to leave it on or desserts to make to take to dinners, there is only so much cake I can hide in the freezer for the occasional visitor. I also found a pack of Bulgar wheat as well as some buck wheat, I would usually make into salads / tabbouleh and take for work lunches during the summer so I'll need to find recipes to use those up.
lunch was a quick omelette and dinner due to kitchen chaos was LO JO butter chicken, you're right Caronc re the peanut butter

Not a political post.....
I think Trump's not going to last the week. He's too old/fat and was 'rushed' into an actual hospital too quickly (bearing in mind his in-house capabilities on site).... and now they're pumping all sorts of cutting edge/new ideas into him.
Give it a week I say, two weeks tops. But I honestly don't think he'll see the other side of this. It "just takes you", so quickly once started. And he's not starting from the best position.0 -

And he's not starting from the best position. Not political either but I do hope he survives as a husband, father & grandfatherI noted on the news this morning showing him walking to helicopter he had turned healthy pink from his usual orangeMore rain this morning, tipping down. My son's garage flooded when the drains were overwhelmed, they use it as a gym so it mattersEarly cooking start, all the bits choice ingredients for a beef stew, except herby dumplings, are now in the slow cookerI added some frozen sliced mushrooms & mixed peppers now I have them in stockDumplings will be added this afternoonLunch, I may go for a pizza snack / sub if I can locate them in the freezer, otherwise defrost a couple of loaf slices as toastDinner, SC beef stew & dumplingsW8rose on line min order is now down to £40.However despite me having priority slots there are no slots for weeks ahead so It's academic.Because lower min order + no charge for delivery I reckon other s/m customers are piling in, may not last once the higher basic prices are factored in by new customersTime will tell. Meanwhile my @sda order is due on Wednesday, I would've cancelled and used w/rose had a slot been available in a reasonable time frame

I woke up about 5 today as I felt cold in bed. I had two rolls with PB for breakfast.
I just had the last of the leek soup along with some steamed veg, the last of the stuffing I defrosted and gravy. I'm feeling hungry today.
The heating went on yesterday as I keep feeling chilly. I've had lots of herbal tea today as well to warm up.3 -
Good afternoon everyone,
Much as I abhor Trump I do hope he recovers, hopefully though catching the virus might change his views on how nasty it is.
Cold and wet here today. I'm glad I made the most of the sunny weather and spent most of the afternoon outdoors. My elder son came over for a socially distanced catch up bringing a bag full of Greek goodies (olives, oregano, pistachios and my favourite oregano flavoured Lays Ruffle crisps) and a small bottle of HM rhubarb and ginger gin
. Most of those will be sampled later this afternoon! After he left my sis popped over and we had a good natter until it got too cold to sit outside.
I'm trying out another JO recipe (we have three in total planned this week!) - the "Bacon rarebit burger" https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/beef-recipes/bacon-rarebit-burger/ which is a calorific as it sounds, especially as we having some AF potato lattices with it! HM spicy lentil and sweet potato soup from the freezer for lunch.

Breakfast today was the last 2 crumpets/marg.
Lunch has just been lasagne. I c0cked up there, should've done sausage rolls; I bought 8 sausage rolls and their date is 7 October.... I'll probably binge on those in the end, cooking four at a time and not two.2 -
Dumplings in the SC and yummy smell wafting around the houseThe pizza snack / sub for lunch was fine, plenty for 50p, but a bit of tastier cheese on top would make it even betterI'll grate some extra strong Cheddar on the next one

Good evening everyone,
Extra cheese is always good Farway
It's been a thoroughly horrible day here weather wise, I've not even ventured to do a bin run! That said I've had a reasonably productive day pottering - tackled a pile of ironing, slow cooked a load of now-ripe tomatoes with garlic & oregano for a future sauce and cleared a huge junk of voluntary admin.
My son is in charge of catering tonight so I'm leaving him to it and having a noodle online while sipping a glass of red.

Thanks for the extra cheese tip Farway, I have a box of what sounds like them in my freezer too
its been a miserable enough day to avoid going out, more kitchen tidying and the fun task of trying to match lids to plastic containers again, I seem to have mislaid some containers, my kitchen isn't that big so goodness knows where they've disappeared I was searching under the stairs just in case they were hiding when my sister turned up this afternoon 😐 I was boxed in by the contents and couldn't get out (the open door blocked one way) luckily the front door was unlocked and I could shout her in, she worked around the containers cluttering the kitchen to make a cuppa whilst I tidied things back under the stairs 🙄 I did find a bottle of olive oil under there with the wine 😁
Lunch was cheese and crackers with the last of my tomatoes. Dinner was rump steak (part of my W8itrose YS haul) with jacket potato, runner beans, courgette, fennel and fried onions. I made a parsley, capers, sun dried tomato, chilli and red wine vinegar 'sauce' to top the steak 🤤 The runners were an unexpected bonus when I pulled up the plants with enough for two portions.
Caronc I've taken pork fillet from the freezer and I thinking of trying JOs sweet 'n' sour pork although I don't usually eat fruit with meat it is calling me to tryLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1
