i had a iceland delivery today to use a good voucher and save me going into town at the weekend, unfortunately there was three items (not important ones) missing which pushed me below the £35 so I ended up paying delivery and losing out on the voucher  :s I wasn't happy
This is a major brain-block for me too ... what if I scrape together enough items to make up the order -AND- they don't have the 1-2 things I was only really interested in + being charged for delivery because I'd dropped below the level.  Things big buyers never have to concern themselves with, but when you've already tied yourself in knots to get as far as managing to reach the minimum and spent hours working out how the bulk it out ... it'd just be the final nail in the coffin to have it go so terribly wrong.

Had crumpets for breakfast.  Not sure about lunch.  I could have chips; I'd like something with the chips but I've not bought anything relevant/suitable so far... so it's chips or nothing.  I've also not got vinegar, because that's another thing to have to find in the shop and then have hanging around, creating clutter.  If I'm going to have a lot of chips though I'll probably get round to buying some vinegar in the coming weeks.

EDIT: Went out to the car, there's a tin in there I hooked out. It was gifted from a sibling when she turfed out her food cupboard when I visited last Xmas and I've not been able to use it.  It's a smallish tin of "pulled chicken, indian madras".  An outgoing resident had left a couple of spuds and other bits for anybody to help themselves to and I'd relieved the pile of one spud.... so, today, lunch will be that spud, nuke-baked + I'll heat up this tin of chicken.
    I've googled it: https://elmundo-united.com/products/pulled-chicken-indian-madras/

EDIT 2: That tinned chicken wasn't too shabby. I'll never have it again though as it doesn't look like it's widely available + it'll have a price tag much higher than I'd be prepared to pay.

I had toast and Marmite for breakfast and I'm making wedges for lunch.

I just went into my local town centre for the last time in a while as I'm getting nervous about using public transport. The woman sitting closest to me coughed a few times!

    Good afternoon everyone,
How annoying you were charged Brambling, most SMs don't if missing items  bring the total on the day below the threshold. I'd be emailing them at least to retrieve the voucher!
It's a lovely day here after yesterday's wild weather, it's to be very cold tonight though. Earlier I took advantage of the decent weather and got a fair bit of pot emptying/tidying done in the garden. I'm pooped now so that will do me for today.
The JO curry was really good, I'll definitely make it again. It did taste a bit peanutty whereas cashew butter would probably be less noticeable but it didn't spoil the dish. I think it's a dish that could appear fairly regularly so I may invest in a jar of cashew butter, I don't mind the ££ if I'll use it. Another JO tonight from the book - Cheats Mushroom Risotto it uses a sachet of cooked mixed grains instead of risotto rice so pretty quick to put together.
Lunch was herring in a dill & mustard sauce from IKEA on Finn Crisp crackers with homegrown cucumber and tomatoes on the side.

I have 125 recipes for bread pudding -and- bread/butter pudding.....
When did I last cook either of those?  About 35-40 years ago.
It's food I like, but you can't eat everything.... and it's just not managed to get to the top of the pile.  I guess not being a regular buyer of milk is a key reason.  I'd guess I buy 3 pints of milk a year.

As forecast Storm Alex has arrived, very wet & windy this morning,
diced steak out & defrosting for tomorrow, and PN post reminds me that today would be a good day to have the smell of bread pudding wafting around the house

After last night's pizza, scoffed the lot, I fancied summat sweet so opened the tin of rice pud from the YS "lock down"  @sda food box, it was just right
Today's meals are use up LO SC sausages & beans thingy.
I have two portions, one for lunch & one for dinner. Quick nuke & eat from the containers
If still peckish I'll have some cheese & one of my apples later

Today is ideal for lolling & a box set on the tele,

    Good morning everyone,
It's a gorgeous day here though there was a heavy frost first thing. A  case of make the most of it before the wild weather returns tomorrow.
We enjoyed the JO Cheats Risotto last night, not as lovely as a buttery, wine laden oozy one made from scratch but it made a pretty decent quick mid-week meal. It's on my "make again" list and it's reasonably CFO friendly as only makes 2 portions.
Tesco are due shortly with mainly bits and pieces to make our planned new recipes this week and some household stuff so it shouldn't take long to sanitise and stash when it arrives. After that I really should spend some more time gardening but I'm not feeling very bendy today and will probably give it a miss. If it's warm enough in the sunshine my book and a cuppa sound much more appealing. :)
Sarnie of some description and fruit for lunch and freezer rake for dinner. I'm assuming my son will get his usual chippy and I'll be CFO.
  • It's been raining here most of the morning. I'm not sure I'm even going to venture out today.

I had a chocolate/PB/ almond milk smoothie for breakfast. It has really filled me up. I didn't even realise it was around lunchtime as I'm not hungry.

Some localised devastation, some beach huts ravaged by waves along the coast a bit.
    Bit sunny/calm now though

2 crumpets/marg for breakfast.... opened another pack of flatbreads and am now on my 2nd one (3 in a pack).... they have a date of 4 Oct and I don't think they keep after that date, so will probably end up binning the last few.  Had my money's worth out of them though.
