Enjoy your holiday Brambling, hopefully your nephew will "monitor" your courgettes while you are away so you don't come back to marrows!

I slightly worried they may offload their surplus into my fridge  - three are going on holiday 🙂

Sunny but cool wind outside this morning. Ideal weather for Brambling's drive by on the A27 heading Westwards
Should it warm up a bit I may clear the outdoor toms, unlikely to get any more off them now, and my blackberries have now finished as well Caron.
Still have apples, figs & a lonely bunch of grapes yet to ripen

I've settled for a fish day today, seems ages since I has some but I know it's not
Lunch will be small tin of tuna / mayo sarnie
Dinner, frozen cod fillet in crumbs, with HM AF chips & nuked frozen peas
Those don't look exciting written like that do they?

I've frozen two large portions of yesterday's stewed fruit but have surplus in 'fridge should I fancy extra at some point during the day
I keep looking at my tax return, must sort it soon.
With the low to nil interest rates on savings it's completion is not difficult, just an inconvenience

I think I am officially "having a bad day".  It all started well ...
I got up early, but decided to go to Mr T to stock up, rather than having an early morning walk to the beach as it was a bit windy out there.... ideally it'd have been: walk to the beach, come back the other route via Mr T and walk home (say 4+ miles or so all round).... in the end, with the wind, I thought "S0d it, take the car" and off I went.

I had my little list, but just inside the door there's a hot food stand - and I've never, to date, seen a hot cornish pasty there, just an empty spot.  This morning there were four hot cornish pasties for sale - and so I decided I was having one.  As it was still 9.40  tills don't open until 10, so I thought I'd pop back and get one.  9.55 I was there, grabbing a hot cornish pasty, already 1-2 had been grabbed.  I decided I'd eat it in the car park, hot and enjoy it.

So, out to the car, in, windows open, bite into it - it didn't feel right for a cornish pasty, the pastry was undercooked, but I ploughed on... not much meat in this, then I got to the filling: cheese & onion.  That's not right, so I took another bite, definitely cheese and onion... so it was back on with the mask, inside, queue for customer services and point out their error.  She said "get another one and try", so I did... cheese/onion.  So they withdrew the batch from sale and gave me my money back.  No worries, that counted as a free breakfast I guess.

Pulled out and just up the road my interior rear view mirror dropped off the windscreen.... drove 3-4 roads without it until I could pull over safely and fiddle and, in fiddling, another piece fell off, so I drove home without it.  Now I've got to go out there at some point and fix that, although I can't be sure it's fixable until I give it a go.  I think it's just given up the ghost and it'll end up needing a new one *rolls eyes*.

Food bought just now: flatbreads, 5 bananas, lasagne, cheesecake, doritos, tin of beans, 15 eggs, bag of sweeties.  I'd have got a loaf but the date was 3rd and so I left it for today as I've still two crusts left from the last loaf.

EDIT: Fixed the mirror, I'd been trying to slide it down, it had to be shoved up.  All fixed for now... although it's probably going to do it again so I'll add "get some gaffer tape out" to my "things to get out of storage next time I'm in there" list.

But... I had to remove the final choc ice from the freezer to fit in what I'd just bought (I'd been keeping it in an otherwise empty box to retain my space).... and managed to drop chocolate, that then melted, onto my newly washed cream top, which I was wearing as "the lightest piece of clothing currently in my bag/out of storage" as it looked (earlier) like it might turn out to be a hot day.... so just had to wash that out - just washed the top 1/4 of it in the en-suite sink and I think I got it all out :) it's now drying draped over a bathtowel.
  • It was raining here yesterday and today it is glorious and sunny! I did 12,000 steps this morning as it was so nice out. I had been a sloth for quite a few weeks before that.

I was walking outside the shop yesterday and I looked down at my bag and I got vertigo and nearly stepped sideways into a huge puddle. I feel okay today so I'm not sure what caused that. I haven't suffered with vertigo for months/years so not sure what brought that on.

I had avocado on toast and a bowl of fresh fruit this morning.

    Good afternoon everyone,
Yikes PN sounds like a day for getting back under the duvet. Light coloured clothes and any sort of food are always a recipe for disaster whenever I wear one!
Dry her today but overcast and chilly definitely thick cardi weather outdoors. I've spent the morning pottering, getting a few chores out of the way before chaos resumes when my younger son returns. Later I'm going to make a batch of Italian sausage and veg ragu for dinner tomorrow. The deli along from my elder son has started selling "proper" Italian sausages and he very kindly bought me some before he headed on holiday.
BLT again for lunch and I've beef ham (round steak) defrosted for dinner to flash fry and stuff in a ciabatta roll with mushrooms, onions and lots of mustard for dinner tonight.

    Good evening everyone,
Well it stayed dry but never brightened or warmed up so apart from watering I didn't bother doing anything in the garden. A large pan of ragu has just finished cooking and it smells and tastes gorgeous. Plenty for tomorrow and some RMs for the freezer.
Mushrooms and onions have been cooked, just needed heating through when I cook the steak and then it's some TV and a lounge on the sofa for me before bed. I had long video chat earlier with my elder son, they were supposed to be heading to Athens tomorrow but as it's to reach 39C they've decided to wait until Tuesday when it's due to marginally cooler and will just enjoy the beach/sea breeze for another day. My younger son is due back tomorrow afternoon, no doubt with a bag of  dirty laundry and stiff legs from all the hill walking but hopefully feeling the benefit of having had  few days "R&R" with his mates!

Today I decided to use up two of the sausages + use up a pouch of rice + use up some of that jalapeno ketchup..... nuked the rice 2 minutes, meanwhile skinned/cut the sausages into 4 pieces and popped those in a bowl and nuked those until they looked cooked (about 4-5 minutes). I then squirted in a lot of the ketchup, chucked in the rice, stirred it all round and nuked it for a further minute.

Still getting through the first bottle of that ketchup .... which I bought in an 8-pack and I can't even give it away as it was OOD before I bought it (£2 for 8 bottles, from memory) at the warehouse.

I had two crumpets about an hour ago. Winging it a bit there as they're dated 28th August, still two remaining so I'll have those for breakfast to get rid of them.

Also scoffed a pack of doritos and most of the bag of sweeties I picked up earlier.

    Good morning everyone,
Sunny here this morning but decidedly chilly, I was wishing I had popped the CH on when I stepped out of the shower!
Apart from some domestics I've not much planned for today though will spend some time in the garden this afternoon.
Salad sarnie of some description and pasta with ragu for dinner.

Sun's peeping out now, chilly though
I should go for a beach walk in a bit.... with a little bag to collect interesting looking shells and stones that catch my eye. That's what I tend to do when I go, it gives me something to do ... usually I'd expect to return with just one shiny small stone and 2-3 shells at most.  At "home" they'd be popped into a jar when I got home, but my previous stashes are in storage, so there aren't enough here/yet to bother with that.
Year back we went on holiday somewhere in Devon and the beaches seemed to consist of interesting shells
I did make a lamp with the shells stuck on, it was the '60s so very trendy, went with one I made out of a Chianti bottle

Lunch today will be use up bread toasted topped with grilled cheese, and maybe some piccalilli
Dinner, despite the cool weather it'll be salad. Cheesy baked spud, with boiled eggs & my HM BC dressing
