    Good evening everyone,
HM burgers have been abandoned, for today anyway, as I'm actually, properly, just me in the house CFO tonight!!! This afternoon my son got a call from a mate inviting him round as they have  built a covered area in the garden to sit in. I'm not sure how warm they'll be but they should stay reasonably dry. Going by the clinking bag he left with I suspect in a few hours they won't be caring much about the weather :D
I've decided I cba cooking so a lurking portion of leek & tattie soup has been unearthed from the freezer and that with a toasted soda scone will happily do me for dinner while I catch up on "Celebrity Masterchef" and debate lighting the stove.

    Hi AJ & Missychrissy 👋

I think we missed the worst of the weather here  Farway i left going out until 11am and it was just a little drizzle.  I decided to go to Sainsbobs this morning, I've only been once since March and didn't take the car then.  I can park there for free and stock up on the stuff I can't as it's too heavy or won't as too expensive get from M&S.  It was a lot more money than I've spent for a long while 😳 but every thing is stocked up again for a long while.  I was a little annoyed by the cashier she started off by lecturing  me to put the heavy stuff on first, which I was but it required digging out from the bottom of the trolley, so I did tell her with a tight smile that I had been shopping for quite a few years and knew what I was doing thank you 😐.  Then she decided to ignore the order I put things on the belt and reached over the Fruit and Veg for the more delicate stuff at the end 🙄. I was told several times times I should be using their smart shopping app.  Once home unpacking was a chore not helped by twice kicking the bag with the tins :s

Being totally unorganised I filled the fridge and then decided it needed a tidy and clean.  Which was then followed by the freezer, I didn't audit the contents just rejigged them so they took up less room.

Lunch was a piece of the lentil loaf, thanks for the curry powder tip Caronc with beetroot and gherkins, one portion left in the fridge and three added to the freezer.  Dinner was a lovely piece of hake pan fried, jersey royals, asparagus and my own French beans and courgette. I haven't had hake for ages and it was a really nice piece of fish definitely one I'll buy again next time I venture in to Sainsbobs, there is another piece in the freezer with some sea bass

Sounds like you may not return to Sainsbobs for a while Brambling, blooming cheek.
Does anyone remember when @sda used to pack you bags as they rang the stuff up? Before bar codes and whiz it through quick

I collected my C & C from @sda this morning, all there but bit of a c)ck up  with my ordering I think, Mr K's cake was on offer, but by
today it was full price, bummer, I'll remember that error for sure, the sweet taste of Battenberg will turn to sawdust in my mouth when I think of the price :'(
At least the Stilton was available, as was the Extra mature Cheddar, and a pack of face masks should I need to venture into a real shop

Sun's out and quite pleasant now, I've decided today is salad day, salmon fillet out & defrosting
Lunch will be cheese & salady sarnie
Dinner, fry the salmon in butter & Olive oil, use up last of the Jersey spuds, with normal salad but sample my first HG tomato, Bloody Butcher.
Hope it's tasty, if not I'll blame Monty D 'cos he raved over them last year

I've put my stewed berry ix in the freezer until I get enough for a crumble

    Good morning everyone,
Goodness knows when my son finally got in but it was light outside! Needless to say he hasn't surfaced  yet! I suspect lots of coffee and a fry up will be required when he does lol.
The weather is foul here - lashing with rain, cold and blowing a hooley. I need to put the food caddy out for collection but I'm holding off to see if eases a bit before I venture out.
I've admin to do which should keep me occupied for most of the afternoon but apart from that I've no plans.
A bacon butty is planned for lunch and dinner tonight will either be lamb chops or HM burgers, I'll see what "the boy" fancies and take it from there.

You're a kind mum Caronc mine use to hoover outside the bedroom door at 8.30am if we were late in, it was amazing how long it would take her to do that one spot 🙄

Farway when I was a Saturday girl at the local Spar (long long time ago) if it was busy one of us would pack the shopping for the customers so I learnt how to pack probably or risk getting a lecture from a little old lady 😁

i had a last minute invite of a bacon sandwich lunch by my sister and we spent the afternoon sitting in her garden putting the world to rights I was also treated to a slice of lemon drizzle cake which is my favourite and my nephew makes the best one 🙂 and he wasn't there to see us  :D

i pottered in the garden when I got home, even after the rain yesterday and first thing today the pots were in need of a drink and my rocket was really sad.  I moved some elephant ears, golden rod and lemon balm from the back garden were they are taken over and planted in the 'difficult' part of the front garden, if they die they were free if they survive and spread it will solve a problem patch.  I  removed a plant put there about a month ago which was looking very sad, I paid full price for it 😳 it's been replanted in a large pot for some TLC.  It was gone 8pm once I finished so the planned dinner was replaced with a ham and cheese omelette and salad

Good family news is my sister has been let out of hospital, she needs a scan which they couldn't do to investigate why she has been falling recently 🙂

'Morning all. Good news about your sister Brambling, presumably the scan is a brain one?
I had one of those, they bung carefully position a large metal doughnut jobby on your head. Painless of course.
My scan revealed my brain was no longer all there, some of the motory bits had done something , which is why I veer  off course at times & have a stick to steer me back on course, also explains why I can topple into a flower border :) One of life's things one learns to live with

Sampled some of my C & C cheese last night, a first for this one Butler's Farmhouse. It is scrumptious, certainly buy it again, a nice, if expensive treat.
Still simmering over the Battenburgs.  :s

Opening my curtains this morning saw a fox ambling along the path in front of my house without a care in the world, at least he / she keeps the rats at bay

Sunny day & wind's dropped, salad day again
Lunch, not sure, maybe just a sandwich spread sarnie such is my lack of ideas and avoiding yet more of same old same old
Dinner, use up boiled eggs, salad & baked spud with grated cheese
Last night's dinner & my HG Bloody Butcher toms.
Jury is out, I'll just say for now it was an interesting flavour, not unpleasant but a bit sharper than I expected, maybe as season progresses the flavours will mature?

    Good morning everyone,
Glad to hear your sis is out of hospital Brambling, hopefully the scan will help identify what is wrong.
Re your Bl00dy Butcher tom Farway, I enjoy a tart tasting tomato with a splosh of balsamic  vinegar on it to give a bit of sweetness.
It's dry here though still windy and quite chilly, however I will add a layer and venture into the garden this afternoon. I'm determined to get the planting finished this week and it's to rain again tomorrow.  I picked the first courgette yesterday which I roasted alongside some padrons and cherry toms to  go with our lamb chops last night. With the weather being so lousy I'm hoping it's not the only courgette I get this season. We're having refried bean tacos for dinner so little prep needed as the beans are from the freezer. . Lunch will be a  hamsalad sarnie and some fruit.

Yes and being a kind caring sister I've not made any rude comments about will they find one 🙂 sorry the joy has been removed from the battenburgs by their price, definitely the disadvantage of not being able to go shopping yourself 🙂

sounds like we have had similar weather Caronc dry but windy and overcast.

Nothing exciting happening here, work is the usual beginning of the month chaos 🙄 and other than watering I was too lazy to do much of anything when I finished

lunch was the last of the unfrozen lentil and veg loaf with salad, beetroot and gherkins.  Dinner was a quick and easy salmon fishcake with runner beans and broccoli, I picked up a couple of fishcakes on Saturday they were ok but nothing to write home about, the other is in the freezer but it was handy to toss in the airfryer for a cba meal, just not sure I'll buy another pack

    Good morning everyone,
Damp, grey and chilly here. It will be a gentle day for me today as I managed to twist my back yesterday. It was horribly painful yesterday evening but sleep, painkillers and a heat pad have eased it a bit thankfully.
I've just had a baker's order delivered which includes a couple of their lovely pasties. We'll have those for dinner tonight with mash, beans and mushrooms. I've  spuds needing used up so a good excuse to make a pan of mash.
Lunch will be ham salad in a morning roll and some fruit unless I succumb to a tattie scone

'afternoon all. We've the nice weather today. bit too warm really. I was out & watering my volunteer plants earlier on before it heated up
Lunch, for a change I baked up a part baked baguette, now  they are now back on the shelves. This one was a T*sco one but no different from any of the others I reckon
I had a cheese & salad filling in it. My cheese grater snapped in half during this episode,
I've had for years and suspect it was only a cheapo to start with. I have another anyway so not a catastrophe, and who really needs grated cheese?

Dinner, taken some YS Heck's bangers out to defrost, YS April last year so needed clearing out anyway
I'll cook them in the oven, with HM chips, fried eggs & maybe open a tin of beans
Bit of a CBA dinner but tasty I think

Rain due tomorrow so I may defrost some posh beef chunks, could be a stew & dumpling day
