It's just arrived here, black as ace of spades outside, your turn next Brambling
You didn't have to share  it didn't arrive here until about 4 and hasn't been to bad
The weekend was far too short, the trouble with dark mornings is the alarm wakes you up rather than it gradually getting lightthe temperature is definitely dropping here, no frost but chillier when I walked up to town lunchtime, can't really complain as it is January
. Although I will complain about the two sets of temporary lights which appeared today between home and the office especially as one set will be there for five months
I picked up a small YS gammon joint in M&S lunchtime it was half price a CFO size, it's squeezed into the freezer as I didn't want to cook it tonight
Lunch was half a stuffed pepper and beef tomato, very tasty especially as I used up some mozzarella cheese and melted it over the top. Dinner was cold chicken and veg I had meal planned risotto and then realised it would be a double rice day  I'll probably make soup tomorrow night with the bonesLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Good morning everyone,
Stormy again here today though it's very mild. There was a brief lull in the rain so I nipped to the wheelie bin, it's very gusty and I had a real struggle not to tip over. I won't be venturing back out until the wind settles. My balance is still iffy and I'm pretty sure it's weather related so hoping it will ease when the storm passes. Today I'm going to properly sort through my Christmas gifts (lots of foodie delights:D) and continue with my 2020 budget setting/money shuffling.
Lunch will be cauli soup with crackers & cheese. I've a portion of cottage pie defrosting for dinner which will just need some veg prepped to have with it.0 -
It was freezing this morning! I only had a yoghurt before I went out so I bought bread and some spicy cashew nuts on the way back and had three slices of bread and marg at home and two cups of tea as well to warm up.:)0

First day back to volunteering this year, very dark as others say. Sun came out but now it's drizzle
Back into L's YS mooching routine as well, but nothing YS, in fact the YS section seems to have vanished but I never really had time to play hide & seek for it
First day back for a lot, I think people have forgotten how to drive after a week or so off the school run
Lunch, a part baked baguette with cheese & tom filling
Dinner, the long planned bubble & squeak I think. I may top it with grated cheese and use up the very last bit of pot roast beef, give me some post Christmas 'fridge spaceEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
PN when my younger son was in a house share he had similiar problem with a manky fridge a stuff getting moved, he bought a couple of cheap storage baskets and that worked well for him as if nothing else he knew his stuff was in a clean space and also it seemed to curb folk moving his things or if they did they moved the whole basket. It does sound as though your LL wants your cash but isn't prepared to accomodate a lodger or she thinks that's how everyone lives. Would it be worth seeing if you could pick up a mini fridge cheaply and keep it in your room? You could always sell it when you move on.
Next door's cat came for a "proper" visit this afternnon and we both had a lovely snooze/snuggle for a couple of hours. I think he's less than impressed that his owner's are getting a new kitchen put in though not as disgruntled as his owner who spent most of the afternoon braving the wind and rain to fill a skip!
My sis popped by for a cuppa, she's on holiday this week and busy looking at kitchens and other things she needs to do for her flat. It's needing a lot of work done as it's been somewhat neglected in the past. It's structurally great though and will be lovely once she upgrades it. She left with a largeish tub of the cauli soup I made yesterday. I'm happy to see some go as it made rather a lot and I've not got masses of freezer space left to save it into. I had some more for my lunch today and will again tomorrow, after that I think there will be a portion left which will fit in the freezer okay. It's worked out about 20p a portion max (including fuel) as I used veg I had bought on SO when they were cheap over Christmas and with the splosh of cream it tastes very luxurious.:)
I've found homes for all my Christmas goodies and gifts, one was a jar of "Zhoug" sauce which apparently is a Yemenite green chilli/coriander paste usually eaten with falafels or chicken:cool:. I'm looking forward to trying it as it's a new one to me.:) I also had a quick snaffle of some of the HM pistachio brittle and chocolate covered cinder toffee my friend made - my they are yummy but oh my poor teeth (and sugar levels).:rotfl: I got some of my finance stuff done though I do want to shuffle some of my long term savings about but will get the"pots" that I fund from my monthly income sorted out first. I've been through what I spent on various things last year and how that looked against what I had budgeted, overall it's worked out in the black but some tweaks are needed for this year as I've added a "holiday fund" and know I need new specs.
It's a nice "plain" dinner this evening - HM cottage pie from the freezer with carrots, peas, mushrooms and gravy.0 -
Not a great deal to report here other than the Barton's Piccalilli as sourced from Food Warehouse seems to be a good 'un. A tiny bit bitter maybe, but not brain curdlingly acidic like a lot of supermarket own brands
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
She definitely sounds mad PN She obviously wants your rent but isn't prepared to make the effort to be a good landlady or person  hopefully she will have a lot of holidays in the next six months.
How's the donkey today Caronc?
Having fought the traffic to work this morning (2 sets of temporarily lights ) IT issues with the system we are trying to test meant we were sent home lunchtime as we could test using our own internet. I sat in the car a couple of minutes from home as six peacocks took their time crossing the road, four blue and two white going from their home to the field the other side beautiful and as much road sense as pheasants :rotfl:
Whilst on a conference call I sneaked up to let his lordship out and the kitten shot in as soon as I opened the door, my colleagues were very amused by me chasing it around, it knew if I caught it I would put it out, maybe I should have put the laptop on mute firstpoor thing was wet and I felt so guilty putting it back out
Lunch was the same as yesterday's stuffed pepper and mushroom with some additional LO veg and dinner was pasta with chicken, vegetable and tomato type sauce. I've made chicken stock this evening and will make soup in the morning as I'm working from home againLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0
