I do "keep on top of" the main areas that I know get small spills etc, by doing a quick spray/wipe here and there while awaiting sausage rolls cooking or the nuker nuking ....
So I got out the floor cleaner and a tub of hot water and I got down and scrubbed hard at every single tile with a cloth for ... all of about 5 minutes ...... then emptied the water out - and it was "barely dirty at all".
So I'll get round to doing it again next year then
"It builds immunity" they tell us of dirt - and is not good for you to keep everything 100% germ and dirt free. Just keep an eye on essentials....e.g. the worktop gets wiped down 2-3x a day (not every bit, just bits/bobs + 10 spill wipes/day as they occur).
There's a world of difference between "a few crumbs and some coffee grain spills" and actual "filth"
:rotfl::rotfl:I'll just point out in my defense that my house isn't currently manky, I'm just expending more of my precious energy levels on keeping it clean than I want to...
Anyway I'm tootling off to hoover & clean the loo as I have visitors this evening0 -
I think I'm destined not to get my mince round...
My son is now not coming home until Saturday morning (I had planned for us to have it on Friday night) as he has been invited to a posh work's dinner by his boss. The sort of event that costs £100+ per ticket (Thankfully he's not paying) he'd be foolish not to go. He's out on Saturday night so can't just defer it. I think I might just need to bite the bullet and cook the whole pie:)
Breakfast was a sliced banana, dried aprocots and flaked almonds with a spoonful of greek yoghurt. Made a nice change from my usual toast/fruit.
I've got a crusty roll and sea food sticks defrosting which I'll have with some salady bits and pickles and tonight it's an easy option of spinach & ricotta lasagne from the freezer.0 -
I hate cleaning the kitchen and bathroom floors. They both need doing at the moment.:o
I just had a couple handfuls of pumpkin seeds and a cup of licorice tea. Pumpkin seeds aren't that bad once you get used to them. They are very good for you.:A
I bought a ready made rice (lazy, but better than a takeaway!) and I'm going to roast a whole tray of veggies and have a curry. I will probably do that for dinner.:cool:0 -
snap em up caronc
Lamb meal is done and I have 7 good sized meals out of itmy pressure cooker (2.5l) was full to about 5 ml from the top. I changed a valve in the lid too, pressure cookers need maintenance from time to time

....sea food sticks ....
I love those, but usually only eat them in the summer months. Mostly I just pick at them, pulling the film off and scoffing 3-4 at a time.
I have been known to make a formal wrap or baguette filling with a marie rose sauce ... but for all that faffing around I usually just open the packet and scoff them like sweeties.0 -

Rice.. I sometimes use pouches, which I don't mind, because the rice gets mixed in with strong tasting sauces, and I only get basmati, which has a better texture.
Mostly I cook it in my large microwave saucepan, that has a lid. It calls itself a pressure cooker. but it isn't. Much less faff than stovetop rice, leaving the lid on for an hour, etc etc...
I was an Army wife for years, I don't want my home 'march-out clean', though. Just grot-free will do.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I read a book once (fiction) that centred round two cleaners. They had various descriptions of what clients wanted regarding cleaning one was "keep it above the dysentery level" which made me :rotfl::rotfl:0

I'd manage in between ok I think:)
This company are very thorough, no slacking. The owner (it's just her and a partner) is ex-forces....;)
Love the sound of your lamb dish:)
You get my drift then...
Which reminds me - I've not checked whether my mother is still hoovering every day....but she always used to. I think the bathroom got cleaned daily too and I wouldnt be surprised if the kitchen was as well. Last I knew I still hadn't been able to persuade her not to lean out windows to clean them and get up ladders to take down her curtains/put them back up yearly (I've decided I think I can get away with washing curtains every other year....). She doesn't tell me she's still getting up ladders like that (at her age) - but I have a "little bird" that tells me and she thinks I don't know (but her next door neighbour tells me):rotfl:. I'm pretty certain I could walk in the door in the next minute - and I wouldnt find a thing out of place/speck of dirt.
So - to me - I've decided my "personal level" is once a week for kitchen/bathroom/hoover (on the grounds it's only me/no children/no pets/no smoking). Though I admit there are times when the gap can be longer...:o
EDIT; LOL at the book Caron - and think, if I ever employ a cleaner, she/he will be told "Think German punctuality. Think halfway between average British level of cleanliness and Armed Forces 'spit and polish' ".0 -

I used to hoover every day when I had pooches but now every week is fine unless I've been particulary messy. My plan is for the cleaner todo everything thoroughly and I'll just keep it topped up in between visits. I feel a longer session but more in depth IFYSWIM less frequently would work better for me than a quicker clean up weekly.
:rotfl::rotfl:at your descriptor this was the book https://booksfromscotland.com/book/giving-up-on-ordinary/0
