I received this in an email from NHSDiscounts.com
I haven't looked into it thoroughly yet, but it seems like a decent offer. I think it's only for NHS staff who either have to have an account, or create an account, on NHSDiscounts.com. I hope this helps0 -
In the T&C for NHSdiscounts deal, it seems to say at one point that one only need to credit GBP800 per month into the account to qualify. But the last T&C point stated transfering in salary. SO which is it then? Just creditting or salary transfer?0

All the recommendations are for switching accounts completely. I just want to open a 2nd current account in order to separate my finances from my partner's; I'll be paying c£3000 in a month but don't want to switch direct debits and standing orders. Oh, and I don't go into overdraft ... So which bank is best for me?0

Halifax. They'll give you a fiver a month.
(You can open the account without switching, you just won't get the extra £50 cashback as mentioned in the MSE newsletter. If you switched the joint account, then you could get the £50 cashback, and would then get £5 per month on both accounts.)0 -

It states that a condition of receiving the £150 cashback is transferring your salary to the account. Transferring your salary to the account has to happen by 31st August 2010. So, my answer would be both. The £800 in the first three months, then by the end of August your salary must also be transferred. This is my understanding of it.
Unfortunately I don't have any more information than what is given on the NHSDiscounts website and it is not laid out in a user-friendly manner.
However, there is a number listed on the site where they would probably be better equipped to respond to any further queries:

Does anyone know if Alliance and Leicester still do the "refer a friend" scheme? Also when it says "you must pay at least £500 into your account each month". Do you have to keep that in your account or can you transfer it to another bank account straight away?0

A&L Premier Current Account
Switch your account to us and receive £100 cashback
1To qualify for this offer you must switch all your Direct Debits using our Switching Service and meet the monthly funding requirements (you must pay at least £500 into your account each month).
To be able to have a Premier Current Account, you must be over 21 and pay at least £500 into your account every month (or fees may apply). Cash, cheques and your salary all count towards this monthly amount, and they can be spread out over the month.
NO I pretty sure you don't need to keep that £500 in the account at all and also click here for A&L refer a friend scheme.0 -
I've just completed transferring from Alliance and Leicester to First Direct (following good reviews on here). What a breath of fresh air!
First Direct have been extremely helpful at every stage. If I have phoned them - I speak to a REAL PERSON - not a 15 stage menu driven automated system - and they are quick to answer.
To be honest I'd planned to switch again after six months to get the additional £100 - but I don't think I'll bother. They are far better that A&L have been.
I recommend First Direct!:j0
