How can the Lloyds Vantage Account not be here?

    http://www.lloydstsb.com/rates_and_charges/current_account_rates_curr_page.asp#currentaccountsvantage

    .....but in my defence:A

It's quite late and I'm tired, or I'd have twigged that there were another 12 pages in this thread, where the Vantage account is mentioned in places.

Seriously good account, easy to upgrade from an internet banking perspective.

Lloyds Vantage Account... Have to pay in a minimum of £1,000 per month but 4.0% AER!
But any idea how long that will last with a Lloyds account?

At least with a new A+L its fixed for a whole 12 months, and in future it could still be getting a decent guaranteed rate when base rates eventually rise again.

I don't know how long it will last but I check the rates periodically and as the interest is paid monthly, I would notice a sudden drop in interest payments. So if it suddenly went from £23 per month to say £15, then I'd see straight away that the interest rate had been cut by a 1/3rd.

That said, I'm not dependant on my bank giving me £23 a month to live but it pays for a nice bottle of wine once a month.

  • Recently transferred from First Direct to A&L for the £100. All has gone smoothly but I have discovered a small glitch with A&L.

I set up a weekly transfer from Current to Savings (something I've been doing for 20 odd years with all my previous accounts) and found that although the money is taken out of my Current Account on the Friday it doesn't actually go into my Savings Account until the following Wednesday. No-one told me this when I set the transfer up - but then I don't suppose A&L would say that they gain by taking my money, walking around with it in their pocket for a few days so it doesn't earn me interest in either account, and then finally opting to put it where I asked them to three days later.

It's only a small amount of money, and I'm sure the interest lost is negligable (I'm no good with numbers!), but it's my money and I'm losing out courtesy of A&L's inability to move money from one account to another on the same day.

I've not spoken to A&L about this yet but if anyone else has had a similar problem or been able to resolve a similar problem somehow I'd appreciate a "heads up" before I ring them.
  • Sorry if someone's already posted this, but if you sign up to any of A&L's current account via Quidco, you get £50.

I'm about to sign up to the Premier Direct, which doesn't normally come with a switching bonus, so I was quite pleased to find another incentive to sign up.
  • sorry if this is elsewhere, but trying to sort out an account for my 21yr old daughter who is on benefits, but has her own place (rented). Not much income, obviously, but needs a current account to enable her to pay her bills via direct debit. Where can she go. No adverse credit history, but no credit history yet full stop....she's in a catch 22 situation. Any advice?

  • I switched to A&L in January, and was assured that they would make sure the transfer of Direct Debits went smoothly and that I wouldn't have to do anything.

One direct debit, for car repayments, was cancelled at the old bank but not reset at A&L - I only found out when I got a demanding letter from the finance company - luckily they were very good about it. And my broadband direct debit was not paid for the first month after the switch, so I've ended up with late payment charges.

After several calls to A&L and a visit to the branch, all they can say is that it's nothing to do with them, and that I have to sort these things out myself. I don't want to know the ins-and-outs of owning and moving direct debits that they keep trying to explain to me - I just want them to sort it, as they promised they would. So much for hassle-free.

The most galling thing is that noone at A&L ever said sorry - even when I pointed out to them that this was poor customer service. It's absolutely shocking - I'm looking for a new account again already - once I get my £100.

Don't switch unless you a have a lot of time on your hands to sort out the resulting mess.
  • A&L account:

Just wondering if I can simply deposit say £100 and then withdraw it to my regular bank account repeat x5 to get the bonus?

Also, what happens if you don't have DDs or Standing Orders to transfer yet you chose the option anyway? I gave them the details of an account that I don't really use to switch (so they couldn't mess anything up) and as such it only had a couple of bank transfer details set up until I made a token SO just now.

    Thanks.

hi, 2 questions. am thinking of switching to the A&L £100 back account. questions are: 1, if i close my account with current bank will my bank charges reclaim still be processed?
2, will my tax credits be transferred to my new account or do i have to sort that myself?
    hope you can help me!
  • Hello,

I am thinking of switching to the A&L premier account. I have banked with HSBC for years and aswell as a current account have a large graduate loan, credit card and a small savings account.

Will HSBC honour my existing accounts if I switch - am nervoius that they will withdraw my credit card and loan!!! Paranoid I know!

    Reassurance would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Kate
