    Hi

Can anyone recommend a good child's account, preferably manageable online and with some sort of introductory bonus? Not for large amounts of money.

Do you mean one that is to be operated by a child, or on behalf of a child?
Would the amounts of money be regular amounts each month, or variable?
Imprudent granting of credit is bound to prove just as ruinous to a bank as to any other merchant.

On behalf of, but in the child's name, if that's possible? Really small deposits, tens of pounds here and there. We've got a trust fund for larger amounts.

    Hi all
I need some combined wisdom please? Via MSE, I applied for an Abbey current account with yummy interest rate. But nothing ever happened- I got a ref number, then nothing else, no paperwork, no e-mails, nowt!

I got a credit check back form Experian recently- with the Abbey footprint on it. Should I do anything about this? And where at Abbey shall I try and make contact?

From reading all the recent posts, I'm not too bothered about the Abbey account now- seems like too much hassle for a few ££- my sanity is worth more- but just want to keep things nice and tidy.

    Thanks!

I don't know if this is the correct place to post this or not, but here goes! I currently have a business account with Natwest for my string quartet - well actually they call it a club & society account. Up until now it's always been free to use, but it doesn't pay any interest, which is fine for our purposes.

I just got a letter through the post saying that there will now be a monthly fee for using the account. It doesn't say how much the fee will be. After being put through to about 5 different call-centre departments, Natwest are unable to tell me what the fee is. Out of principle I don't want to pay money to use an account.

Therefore, does anyone know if there is a bank that has a similar type of account that is free to use please? Thanks.

Abbey has always been free banking for business. My other half does his gardening business through them and has never had any problems. Check them out online to see if they might suit you....

Thanks for your reply Sloganjerry. I'll bear the Abbey account in mind.

I'm still not absolutely sure if I'm going to be charged for my Natwest account yet. I eventually got through to my home branch, the guy I spoke to checked with the manager, who said there wasn't going to be any fee on my account - this is a complete contradiction to my letter. Do you think I should get this in writing, or is it safe to presume that what he told me over the phone is correct? I'm just worried that if I do incur a fee the account might go overdrawn, and things could get quite messy!

I agree with the above poster.

Also, just a little niggle, I read this article thinking, oh good, it's been updated, perhaps I will be able to find out the best bank account for me.

Unfortunately not. I'm under 21 and so can't get the Alliance and Leicester account. I'm not a student, so I can't get a student account, and I'm overdrawn too much for the other accounts to be useful.

Could we have a bit more of a league table, perhaps not every account on the market but at least mention the top two or three?

From a thread many people helped myself with I know there are good account options available free of charge for you (MSE thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=844111)

I hope this helps, it did for me
