    I completed my switch to Natwest in late January 2018. I quickly deposited the required £1500 into the account as per the terms of the switching offer. Since then, I have made additional deposits just to make doubly sure I meet the requirements. As of March 26th, two months after I switched, I have not received the £125 incentive from Natwest. I sent them a secure message using the app and I received a response telling me not to worry and that the money will be paid in before April 13th. I remain unconvinced. It seems like everyone else who switched got their money within a few weeks. Can anyone allay my concerns regarding the incentive payment?

    Incentive payment will be paid by the 13th April, wont be paid earlier as part of the T&C's is if you close your account before this date you will not be eligible for the incentive, so they will be paying incentives on or around the 13th.

    I switched the same day that the offer came out and I havent got the incentive, not that Im expecting it till the 13th anyway.

    The only person who has said (s)he has got the payment is Mchambers and those who follow threads on this board are aware of the reputation that follows and therefore make your own mind up.

    Every time something has happens, complaint or not (s)he has told the rest of the world on here, so I am surprised that (S)he didn't share the good news when the incentive was paid, after all every little bit of news good or bad is shared...

    Make your own judgement on this as you will.

    Sit tight and just wait as long as you have paid the £1600 in and logged into internet banking and opened account online and switched via CASS before the 16th February then the incentive will be paid in a few weeks

    Your freaking me out I hope your comment of Pay in £1600 was a slip of the pen as I thought it was £1500.
    Please tell me I am correct
    I choose the rooms that I live in with care,
    The windows are small and the walls almost bare,
    There's only one bed and there's only one prayer;
    I listen all night for your step on the stair.

    Part (b) refers to holding an existing account, not opening a new one. The wording isn't ambiguous. If you opened a new account to get the incentive, then it needed to be done by 16th February 2018.
    No, I disagree.

    For that to be the case, you would need a date condition in (b) - there isn't one - and the terms ask you to meet (a) *or* (b)

    If someone reads the currently active T&C's today and has an account today, there is absolutely nothing in (b) about it mattering when you opened it - you still have an account as required in (b)

    You could say that it should be obvious from (a) that there should be a date restriction on (b) - but there isn't one - which is extremely important for legal agreements.

    Nah, even NatWest wouldn't choose Friday 13th...

    The terms are pretty awfully worded.

    https://beta.natwest.com/content/dam/natwest/personal/current-accounts/documents/Switching_Offer_Terms_2018.pdf

    It says (a) or (b) - and you don't meet the terms for (a) - however technically you still meet the wording of (b) since it doesn't have a date restriction.

    That said, I imagine if you didn't get the bonus paid, they may well argue that there is a date restriction implied by (a).

    Agreed. She could argue she met the terms under B. And may get paid or compensated if she complains in the event they don't pay the incentive.

    The terms of the account are clear. Here is what the first clause says (the relevant clause):
    1. Who's eligible for the offer?
    You're eligible for this offer if you:
    (a) apply for a Select, Reward, Reward Silver, Reward Platinum or Reward Black account ('eligible account') via natwest.com or through the NatWest mobile app between 10 January and 16 February 2018; or
    (b) have a NatWest Select, Reward, Select Silver, Reward Silver, Select Platinum, Reward Platinum, Black or Reward Black account ('eligible account'),
    AND before 16 March 2018 you:
    *complete a full switch of a non-NatWest account to your eligible account using the Current Account Switch Service;
    *deposit £1,500 into your eligible account; and
    *log into our online or mobile banking service.

    How is it not clear from this that you either have to apply for a new account between 10th January 2018 and 16th February 2018 (subsection (a)), or hold an existing account (subsection (b)) and complete a full account switch; deposit £1,500; and log into online or mobile banking by 16th March 2018?

    There doesn't need to be a date restriction for subsection (b) because it is referring to holding an existing account. Having a date restriction would make no sense there. I do not understand why you think there should be. It is clear from the wording of subsection (b) that you qualify if you have (their word) an existing account at the time of the switch application.

    The terms are clear and unambiguous, as I said. Clause 1 is an either/or statement.
