Wow, you obviously go to one of the better managed stores.....staff than know the time? In mine I dont think they could cope with a real clock, and maybe not even a digital watch!0 -
oh old fellow, how completely lovely. We live in Holt, and also use Bakers. You're right, they know their stuff, they deliver (FREE), and they give super discounts too_party_ .
We also use Thaxters, they too are receiving a high recommendation.
As for B &Q...... what's the point? With one or two exceptions, no really, I have spoken to staff who are polite and helpful, it's like getting over priced blood:wall: out of a poor quality stone.:(I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

That's funny. But if you can get the blood for free from the stone then it being overpriced is great when you come to sell it? And who cares about the quality of the stone? Am I being a pedant? Oh I see, the point is that you wont get the blood anyway and you are left with a poor quality stone.....I should really do some work.......0 -
Used to use B+Q for their lighting products - halogen/ chrome ones. Then noticed that they were actually made by Ring (well some of them are).
Fortunately for me Ring have a factory (with customer shop) in Leeds and I have saved a fortune. Most products are at least 50% cheaper - what a mark up.0 -
50% mark up (from what they buy to what they sell) is not uncommon across many retail areas. What is scary is that Ring's shop prices must be higher than what B&Q buy for (on quantity grounds alone) so it could be 75% mark up or more0

Dont forget though that if you do find it cheaper elsewhere that B&Q will price match and knock a further 10% off. I use this all the time by going to homebase wickes etc.... then going to B&Q.
By the way I dont work for them.0 -

You're right, to be fair to B&Q. I recently bought a length of wood from Wickes for £1.69. Then I found I needed another one, but Wickes is too far to justify a cost effective trip. So I went to B&Q where a near-identical item was a whopping £2.99. Almost sarcastically I asked if B&Q did a price match, and they told me they did! So I got the wood for £1.69 less 10%. Not bad.
But it's still not good enough. B&Q know full well that relatively few people will make such a claim. Most folks would 'trust' them to be fair. So, for the most part, they rip-off most people.

Don't they knock a further 10% of the difference? So if B&Q charge £19.99 and Focus £18.99, they'll price match and give you an extra 10p off - not an extra £1.89 off.
Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how they word it.0 -

In my case, they certainly deducted 10% from the lower (Wickes) price. So out went the B&Q £2.99 price. Wickes price was £1.69 so I got the wood for £1.52. Perhaps that's not what they should have done but, if they are as hopeless as many people say, it went in my favour!0
