It's a gold ole beef stew with creamy mash for dinner tonight. Have got some LO hotpot for lunch but need to do some extra veg on the side as not really enough for a meal!

  • Yesterday made a quick stir-fry with leftover veg in the fridge (especially carrots and red cabbage), and some soba noodles that have been in the cupboard for a few months. Nothing too fancy but nice with a bit of chilli oil on top. Trying to use up the odds and ends we have in the cupboard before buying more things, so there may be a few odd meals this week!

On the radio this week Chris Evans was talking about Cornish pasties, husband has talked about having them for dinner since.
So I have just made the pastry. Will do mine with steak quorn and there is a small rump steak defrosting to go in his.

We had home made sweet potato, red pepper and chilli soup for lunch, with half a toasted ham, cheese and onion toastie each.

I had planned to make a dish of tartiflette for supper but we are running short of cream and there!!!8217;s no way to get out to a shop. There is only about half a pot of double cream left, so I!!!8217;m going to make it with half milk/half cream and keep my fingers crossed it turns out OK! Hopefully the Reblochon cheese will be creamy enough when melted .....

Second half of the veggie Shepherd Spy I made yesterday for us today.

Originally I was supposed to have a meet'n'greet visit with a new doggy customer today, but his owners have very sensibly postponed this as the snow is 6" deep (I can't use the mobility buggy in the snow in any case, so wouldn't have been able to take him for a walk to see how he is on the lead). Anyways, the idea was to have us a "ding dinner" so that I don't have to cook after the visit.

Dusty and his owners are now scheduled to come and visit on Thursday, so I guess I'd better come up with another recipe that will do us 2 days. :D

Most of the snow now melted here. Popped out to lidl to stock up on some bits and it was a little like Armageddon as they've had no deliveries for two days so no pre packed bread, milk or eggs. Very little fresh meats and other stuff low on stock. However when people stopped moaning if you looked there was still plenty in the shop really.

I stocked up on some beans, tinned soup and pasta - joking it looked like I was stocking up for pre snow, not after lol, just the time of the month where we have been getting low on bits and it was lovely and quiet so I could actually move in store. Much more pleasant than the well stocked Sainsbury's which was heaving with crabby customers.

Not sure what's for dinner here - OH is picking so might be a fend for yourself tonight.

Convenience food for us all tonight. Chicken en croute, peas and wedges for us, duck and pancakes for DD and ribs and wedges for DS. Not very cheap but nice for a treat ad we don't as a family have things like takeaways very often.
