  • We're just back from the weekend with the family and I've made pea and ham soup for lunch which we had with some toast and cheese and oatcakes afterwards. Supper this evening will be a mushroom risotto, nice and easy and I've all I need so no need to go out for any extras in this cold old weather.

The Nigella crisp topping on the pud yesterday was a nice change from crumble, but gosh it was sweet, the recipe is from 2007/9?, I did cut back on the sugar a little, but will use even less next time.

Supper with be cod from the freezer with a butter/lemon juice/caper sauce over it, beans, broccoli and carrots, I will probably try the Cheddar cheese risotto from the same book to go with it and then will hopefully have a portion of that left over for my lunch tomorrow.

Chicken casserole for us today. Lidl had chicken legs on special this week

At lunchtime I kind of cremated some dry cure bacon so I crumbled it up and added it, made for a lovely smokey flavour to the chicken
