Hi do it today,
There's an older thread that should help so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

We are only two at the moment but plan to be moreat some point. Am trying to get into meal planning and batch cooking + we have an allotment which we plan to use to full capacity next year. Is it worth it and what are peoples tips and experiences?
We are only two also but with the veg garden the chest freezer fills up quickly! The other thing we keep in there is organic beef which we buy in batches from a local farmer. Thirdly there are batch-cooked meals and leftovers (especially if you are only 2 it is easy to cook for 4 and freeze half), and in our specific case there is a stock of milk, for which we have to go further afield as our local supermarket only sells UHT, no fresh.
OH insisted it had to be a chest freezer as he considers they are more economical and you lose less heat, no, cold?, when you open the lid than when you open the door of an upright one. i don't know how true this is - but ours is certainly AA rated. Unfortunately OH is not the one to dig around in it!"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
I just need to tell everyone how excited I am that I have orderd my cheet freezer from John Lewis for the garage (it's a A+ so cheap to run and suitanble for garage use and paid for with the #100.00 JL vouchers I had for Christmas from work!). I've been reading this thread for the last few weeks and have been determine dto make 2009 the year of budgeting etc and no foodwaste. I've loads of ideas which I've got ready to try for batch cooking but haven't got room in my 3 drawer kitchen freezer.
It arrives 7th Feb so will off to Costco that weekend and the Sunday market whihc has a meat van whihc I've been watching eagerly the last two weeks but unable to buy anything and no room to store anything!
Gosh - this seem sso wrong to be so excited about a freezer!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :j :j :j
Anyway .. on with work!

You are right to be excited!! I was over the moon to get my 2nd freezer in the shed, which was a bargain from a friend at £30. Go ahead and leap about

I don't blame you. I always get excited over new appliances. I would love a chest freezer. I only have an undert he counter 3 drawer freezer at the moment and it is too small. We are look to build an outbuilding for my tumble dryer and to put in a chest freezer.GC 2011 Feb £626.89/£450 NSD3/7 March £531.26/£450 April £495.99/£500 NSD 0/7 May £502.79/£500

Bless you! Being excited is fine, I did a little happy dance when I got mine lol! I then saved up for a second one so that I could have enough space to keep the pig and lamb I'd ordered - currently wondering where I'm gonna put the half cow that'll be coming soon, think we'd best get eating! Good job it's half term soon, that'll empty the freezers!
Edit:
You might wanna watch who you tell about your excitement though, I got a lot of funny looks when I started going on about mine to various friends!GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
