This is a welcome change. On most low cost flights, the majority of passengers are now travelling with large hand luggage bags. This is because they’ve been encouraged to do so by the airline industry as they’ve introduced baggage charges etc.
However it’s now become rediculous seeing some of the luggage people bring as hand luggage. And the faff on board with rammed overhead lockers and pax/cabin crew parading up and down the aircraft looking for that precious few inches of overhead locker space.
It’s a good idea in my view!0 -
But if the standard bag is still 44l and the planes are still the same size, as long as people only take one bag I don't see the problem. I don't want to have to hang around yet another carousel.0

A 737-800 one of Ryanair's standard aircraft has a capacity of 189 passengers but only overhead locker space for 90 cabin bags0 -

.. and loading/unloading 100 bags from the tarmac to the hold is not going to be time consuming at all..0

Goodie! I am a little old weak and mean lady who can't carry her larger hand luggage (wheelie case) down stairs and up on plane, so I always accept to have my small case in the hold.
The "price" to pay is a few minutes on arrival (and sometimes the hold luggage is already there after the passport control).
Thanks RyanAir!0
