Looks like our last resort fee free hotel has now succumbed.
Main Street Station Hotel Downtown looks like future bookings now have a near $17 per day resort fee added.
I would hope we wont be charged this, as our September booking was made last December.
It is getting harder to find a hotel without resort fees, if that is your thing. At least downtown properties should still be less than strip.
I would stress to the check-in receptionist that your booked on the understanding that there were no resort fees and hopefully that will work. I have had resort fees removed or reduced for various things so with management discretion they can remove them.0 -

Along with Fremont and California (all Boyd hotels)
I was reading on Vegas messageboard the other day about these new charges and I think you may be ok
Do you have any play with them. I have just stayed at the Cal 3 nights comped, and didnt have to pay the $5 a day parking charge either
EDIT, I see pebbles had already posted much the same0 -
Our booking for the weekend stay at MSS is through AA airmiles.
We had a total of £7 to pay for Friday & Saturday night stay.So should not really complain about a resort fee,but being as I am, I will not be expecting to pay it.As the introduction of it is long after the room was paid for.
We do gamble at MSS but not enough to make any difference...although the Orleans has comped us rooms this next trip.
It is interesting how different hotel chains regard the resort fee on comped rooms.
Boyd properties dont charge the resort fee on a comped room, yet the 2 nights comped at the MGM Grand still requires payment of the resort fee.
$40+ per night.0 -

$40+ per night.
Absolutely ... but when strip hotels started to add resort fees to their room rates comped rooms were also excluded from fees. These days it's another story in many cases.
I am excited if Four Queens will benefit from Boyds' new resort fees.0 -

Much talk on other message boards about people deserting Boyd for the 4queens0 -

Hey guys,
One of you mentioned about the cost of car hire many many weeks ago on here, and it had a few replies, etc etc.....
Well, safe to say, from keeping my eye on costs, and checking back over my previous records from years etc, yeah, costs are a lot higher
Last year on Memorial weekend, I picked up a std SUV for £158 (Dollar rental, via auto Europe)...
and average 1 week rental for a full size car (Alamo or dollar), was about £145...
No matter how I look at it now, using a few sources, and excluding "europcar" who use Advantage rental, rates are certainly higher!
£180 for a full size car, and like £240+ for a std SUV ~!!
Quite the hike in prices, as looking back at my previous rentals, I have never paid more than £150 for a full size car for 1 week, and some of those included full tank of fuel...
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!
Were doing a gamble with Hertz rental for the 1st 4 nights car rental, but even that's costing £125 for Group D (intermed), then hope given its Friday night of Mem wkend at 8:30pm, the Gold/5* will be empty and we end up with something super bling for free (that's my hope!!)
But for the week rental, I think I am going to bite the bullet and book the full size SUV (Alamo) which will cost £280..... (instead of the lesser car and work my magic in the garage)
That's a lot of £££Hope I win big in the casino's to offset the costs!!!
Technically, a pointless post, just making conversation about the increased prices in car rental !!0 -
Stuie, nothing wrong with mid or full size, even a compact it will get to the speed you want
Seriously the prices are on the increase, this is commented frequently on other LV forums. I used Advantage last year, mainly due to price and there was nothing wrong with the deal, the only downside was they show you to a pre determined vehicle. I was offered a mustang convertible for $15 a day extra but I didn't have any longer trips planned to make the most of it plus I would prefer the gt coupe rather than V6 convertible.0
