At last! I had an appointment in a nearby village and after I came out to drive home saw a parking space so I nabbed it for a quick view. The first CS I went into was expensive (!) and nothing floated my boat so I walked to the next one a few doors up - wow!! It was a Sue Ryder - vastly better than the one in my village and my haul was a complete set of historical novels for DH - 5 in all at £1.60 each but they are all bout 3inches thick so that should keep him quiet for a while. My haul was a lovely grey quilted jacket - Laura Ashley - perfect & looked hardly worn if at all £8.00 and a beautiful soft 'butter' leather jacket - think its John Rocha - lovely fit and nice zip detailing £20.00 - Ive just cleared out 3 jackets to take to the CS to make room for the new ones
Just did a quick googly and my grey jacket was originally £75!!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Splashed a little more than normal today on a dark blue jersey dress from Debenhams and two pairs of purple pram shoes for baby No.2. There's so much pink usually and I much prefer purple!!

. I hope DH is looking after you.
I popped into a chazzer in my former hunting ground today in hope of finding an oversized mug at a bargain price. No luck, but I did find a smart mug emblazoned with "I Love My Gran" on it for my niece to give my Mum on 11th March. Also 4 books for £1, three of which are brilliant finds (for me, I guess they wouldn't interest everyone).
In the next I found a lovely furry scarf in a deep pink - so warm and cosy! - for £1. And 2 William Golding's for another £1. So mucho contentment for £3.20Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
"No man is worth, crawling on the earth"- adapted from Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio
Hope is not a strategy...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!

Funny you should mention mugs. OH's tea mug that he has used every day for about 25 years got cracked being washed up in the bathroom sink, as we are in the middle of having a new kitchen so everything's messy. I too have been looking for a replacement, and found a big M&S bone china one for 30p in the Hospice clearance shop yesterday. It's even microwave and dishwasher safe, so if his tea goes cold he can reheat it in the mic.
I also found a cute stuffed penguin for £1.50, which I have posted off to my penguin mad oldest friend today (we were at school together 50 years ago  ). The postage was twice as much as the penguin, but hey a fiver to hopefully put a smile on her face...
Just realised I haven't bought anything for me for ages! Probably a sign that I have enough stuff :rotfl: .I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

I have been lurking on the old thread for a while now and I've finally decided to show my face- so hi everyone, it's really nice to meet you all!!
I have been a sort of goth since I was 16 and I am now nearly 20 and graduating from university next year, so I decided it was finally time to 'grow up' and buy some smart clothes to prepare for the world of work  .
I have three main charity shop towns I visit; Guildford (my university town), and Wickford and Basildon (Essex). The 5 charity shops in Guildford are full of really nice and smart brands with horrifying prices to match, while the Essex charity shops are mainly filled with supermarket tat at prices which are almost RRP.
I did manage to buy some nice items in the Guildford charity shops today, and while they aren't as amazing as some of your bargains, I'm happy with them. In the Oxfam shop, I found a blue, loose-knit linen/cotton Banana Republic jumper for £3.99, and a lovely cashmere-blend Boden turtleneck jumper for £8.99. It is way more than I would usually pay but it was this unusual pink-hued purple colour, which I adore, and has a high cashmere content, so it was worth it to me. I then went to the Marie Curie shop and got a thick heather wool/angora blend jumper for £6.50. It is by Hush, and having a look at their website, they seem to be another one of these 'nice' high street stores like Seasalt and Joules etc. My last purchase was a pink cotton/linen jumper from Fat Face, with this really interesting knit which almost looks like fish scales. It is extremely pretty and might be my joint favourite with the gorgeous Boden jumper. It was also £6.50
I did get a Hollister navy marl jumper with a thick lace hem off of the £1 rail in the Banardo's back at home, but I don't like how rough it feels against my skin compared to my new jumpers. I think I am going to put it on fleabay (ugh) and donate half the profits back to Banardo's.
I am going to de-bobble my jumpers and try to wash them in the launderette. Wish me luck! :rotfl:0
