I rarely get really really good clothing bargains in the chazzers Is this because I'm a size 16 and the "average" size for Britain? Wish I was a size 8 or 10 (for many reasons :o) but is it the smaller sizes that are more barganious do you think?

I think it depends on what sort of styles you are looking for. Round here young/trendy stuff tends to be 8/10's, (skinny jeans, super short hemlines, body con etc). Good quality classic/timeless, (Hobbs, L K Bennet etc), tends to be in 10/12 and sometimes 14/16's. Department store stuff for slightly older peeps, (Debenhams/H 0f F etc) seems to be more in 14/16 and upwards.....

Actually I don't take that much notice of sizing cos every brand and even every garment can vary so much. I carry a tape measure and know which bits I need to check for width and length if I can't be bothered to try on. I have garments ranging from an 8 to an 18 in my current collection :D

Yes, I always see the nicest stuff in a size too small for me. It's annoying!:rotfl:

And when you've used all the paints you can shove in some B & H soaps (£4 for 3 x 100, less in chazzas) and regift. :rotfl:

    R & G soaps are £4.60 each.

Husband does this - saves a *lot* of angst over waistlines!

Absolutely - and you can get amazing watercolour paper pads at penny rates once you know what you're looking for.

You can't fault the supportive MS approach on this board!

I've had another day out. At Colne, I found a set of silicone bowl covers (ideal for eco-minded cousin as menfolk *spooked* by 'blue jellyfish things!' no matter how eco-virtuous not using clingfilm might be), plus a Denby Manor Green open sugar bowl & little lidded mustard (Acquiz Committee cheered me on as “no longer in production” and also “monster cute” - Dubious Precedents both, but!)
Himself got a handful of drill bits & a ‘bench hook’ to discourage the young from sawing into the work bench & is now worryingly resembling his sons when bored....
So we went off to Bacup & a Denby Ode teapot called to me. Across the shop. Alongside a teacup, little milk jug, pepperpot & coffeepot lid. Plus a Pearson’s pot for husband & a Marmite mug for a former colleague. (Husband sniffing a bit as it has a tiny chip & is made in China etc but I think colleague will be touched.) Husband did Brilliantly & snagged 6 shirts for the lads in designs & fancy fabrics they fuss about for £3!
I also picked up a new in box with all the paperwork & sealed bag of earbuds, HAVIT Bluetooth Headphones 4.2, IPX5 Sweatproof Stereo Magnetic, which should be a godsend as I try to get back into my lapsed gym habit! I admit, just the packaging alone I reckon is worth the three quid I paid - neat zipup carrycase that will hold all sorts of small tech or any jewellery I wish to misdirect attention from.

Disappointing trip to Harrogate this afty. Was hoping to 'do' the charity shops but due to a fire weeks ago part of the main charity shop street was cordoned off so a couple of the biggest shops had had to close for the time being:( Still needed to get my 'fix' so stopped off in the centre of Leeds on the way back and called into the BHF and Sue Ryder shops Got another dress from the SR shop....Per Una, hot pink and burgundy patterned, fitted and with a twisty detail to the short sleeves and inset into the waist. Looked unworn and priced at £6.99. :D

Been to our nearest city today plus a small town on the way.
19 charity shops and my only purchase was a Maine (Debenhams) zip up hoodie in grey with navy stripes for £1.00.
Will be good to stick in my hand luggage for holidays.
Was fettling in my bag for a proper bag and the guy produced a cotton bag with Paralympics logo.
I told him I liked the bag more than the hoodie so gave him an extra £1.00.

Still not feeling the chaxza lurve. :(

Have had a little wander today and bought a Viners stainless steel water jug to go with the teapot bought last week and also a matching milk jug - these were £2 and £1. A M&S slash neck fitted t shirt in white with 3/4 sleeves, looks unworn, I only have one white t shirt so this will be very handy, it is a size 18 so won't be fitted on me but I wanted it looser - £3. A gorgeous Coast skirt, black with floral design, just under knee length, fully lined and the lining has netting on the bottom which shows below the hem £5.

Do carboots count? He’s got a big granny’s tooth (Stanley!) & is very pleased. Not sure what Stanley’s gran will reckon....
I got a Denby salt & pepper in Colonial blue (the 4” not the little stumpy shape). Plus a memories pepper pot, and three blueberry plants - all the china needs jam to add fun... Then a Lovatts jug with base stamps in ink & impressed that put its making around 1920 if I’ve identified the handler’s marking correctly - for 50 pence!
Himself played a blinder - a plastic toolbox loaded with tubes of oil paints, an emergency bothy bag (opened once to get the idea, never used), a couple of useful pouches (one a “molle compatible rollup dump pouch”, seemingly which is actually a fold-roll-&-Velcro-shut belt pouch that unwraps to a useful foraging or empty magazine dump bag) in nato green all as well as this oddly named granny’s tooth plane (An antique-style router plane is mainly used for leveling out the bottoms of dado joints, mortises (like when installing hinges), inlays, and tenon cheeks (and I’m sure there are other uses) - I do love it when google replies in human rather than sales.)
Youngest has already fetched up three boxes of paints & a fourth box to sort them into tidily!
I must go plant the Blueberries then get making lists for the coming week

ETA oh yes, picked up a dinky kids rucksack because I liked the bright stars & the waterbottle pockets & that despite being cute and sized to fit a primary school child it has a decent internal capacity.
Knock me over when the internal label says Cath Kids and a similarly sunfaded one sold on ebay for £17!

Saw a set of 6 Manor Green small square dishes - approx 4" x 5" - in the local hospice shop that I thought would be nice for when we have 'picky bits' like different olives, sundried tomatoes etc.
    How much?

    £15 for the set!
    Pollycat wrote: »
    OK.
I've been back in today and they were priced at £9.00 for the 6.
Checked carefully for cracks & nibbles and they are perfect - gob-smacking for crockery almost 100 years old.
    So I bit the bullet.
2 old posts from last year ^^^

So today I've bought a matching small round bowl - possibly a sugar bowl minus lid - with 2 small handle thingys.
    Perfect condition. £1.00 Barnados

Crying out to be filled with olives. :D

    DFV -wuz I robbed? ;)
