Floss! By all means locate that loved custard jug, and make it clear that it is to go to a named child of your choice in the relevant Will, but please do not start a family harrumph over a jug, lovely though it is.
Not least as there are (I stopped counting at) 4 on ebay right now each with change from a tenner buy it now including postage, so do what would keep your mum happy - keep the peace now, sort the future clearly, and remember her joyfully without high words?
As for dates, Manor Green has been around as a business staple for Denby for decades 1938/9-1983 and the basestamp might narrow the exact age down a bit, but not by much, as the oval scroll ran from the 50s to the 70s!
Now, if you were *really* feeling sentimental, there are Homestead Brown mugs on ebay too, but at prices that have the Acquisition Committee sharpening rapidly from drowsy to aghast. So I'd pick one & carry that *amount* in my cs purse, just in case it comes looking for you.0 -

I have one of those fab very large grey/blue/green patterned jug/urn things packed in my loft. Can't remember the name of the design, it's very 60s. I will look it up one of these days. I believe it's worth quite a bit of money. When I move house I intend to have it on display.
I use the "cup of coffee" yardstick too. Lol.
I see a few on Bargain Hunt.0 -
Wow this is turning into a proper pottery-hunting thread!
I managed to find some kitchen utensils (silicone pancake flipper, long tea tray, big stainless steel teapot) for 50p each, plus 5 thick children's books for £1. Bargains all roundValue-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I got a couple of things in Sue Ryder and Banardo's the other day.
Breton stripe French Connection top- £3.00
A tan leather Gap belt which loops twice around the waist- £1
A black M&S leather belt- £1
5 books, all at £1.50
A purple and beige striped tencel top from Kew- £1.99
I also finally replaced my bag with a lovely bnwt Phoebe bag from Conkca, which I found on eBay. It is fabulous quality, and I got it for £20.
I am now woefully short on money, so will content myself with reading about your bargains instead. Not long until pay day though!0 -
My trip yesterday to the hospice anniversary celebration day saw me coming away without finding any bargains in their newly glammed up charity shop. Prices have tripled since the old jumble sale stylee shop was in operation
Anyhoo, on my way home a neighbour gave me a big bucket of fresh picked strawberries. Does anyone else feel totally 'meh' about strawbs? Gimme raspberries or even better tayberries any day. Sooooo, rather than waste them I ended up making jam and then remembered the fancy pack of labels, linen lid covers, fancy string, wax discs etc that I found in a chazza last year so I have been amusing myself by 'poshing up' my jars of jam this afternoon. My jam making skills are pretty weak tho....either turns out like fruit syrup or toffee!! Never anything in between. At least they look good tho and I can palm 'em orft on friends

Miro I suffer similar outcomes for jam - I now use jam sugar2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Himself spotted a Windsor & Newton box, asked after "the art box", the poor staff member had no idea what he was on about (other than that it was a nice but empty wooden box, as yet unpriced) held it out for examination and guessed wildly "um, £1.50?".
Himself paid up & now we're at home, researched it. Had it had all the contents, it would have sold new at £150, but he has the box & is distinctly pleased. He could fill it as it "should have been" but prefers to use it as he chooses...!
Most of my infancy is documented in handwritten letters. My children found my ability to tell who had written to me without opening the envelope to be a Dark Art - but I could recognise the handwriting, even though Granny had taught all her children to read & write & thus there were pretty strong family resemblances.
Haha, indeed my family all have s similar hand, post mark usually gives it away though!Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Jan 2012: £16,000+ [STRIKE] Credit Card & Overdraft Debts Sep 2013: £13,023 [/STRIKE]

Just dipping back in briefly - am looking to make the most of a free hour (at the very max) in Brighton tomorrow, but there are more chazzers than you can shake a stick at!! Am guessing I should prioritise the independents, but also want to make Books for Amnesty (Sydney Street) my starting point.
Where to from there...? Advice please?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

There's an Oxfam & possibly something else in North Street, Brighton (road to the left if your back is to the clock tower), something straight on from the tower on the left side of the road (can't remember what, sorry).
You may enjoy a quick rummage in Snoopers Paradise, Kensington Gardens.
