I wonder whether someone would be able to help me with a problem I'm having with a Mastercard I redeemed through Swagbucks. I've always redeemed sbs for Amazon gift cards, but owing to the changes in the sbs needed decided to order a Mastercard.
I tried to add it to my Amazon account, just like I would have done with an Amazon voucher, but I ran into problems. When I try to add the £10 to my account, it takes a few minutes to generate an email to tell me that there isn't enough funds on the $10 card. Initially I thought the problem was with Amazon calling it a $10 card. It took a while to fathom, but I think it's the fact that Amazon take the £1 to verify the card which means there is never the full amount left on the card. If I use the £9 and wait for the £1 to be redeemed, when I try to use the card again, they'll take the £1, so I'll be in a catch 22 situation. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, so If someone has come across this problem and can help, I would be grateful.
Also, if I'm reading it correctly, Amazon terms and conditions seems to say that I can only use the card to pay for one item, not add it to my balance as I did with the Amazon vouchers.
I may have to bite the bullet and go back to Amazon vouchers.
Sorry for the convoluted post.0 -

I think you've mostly understood it. You can certainly use the card to top up your giftcard balance so can pay most of what's on the card into your balance and then have to wait until the card is verified to pay in the remainder. I've been waiting about 11 days so far for the last one. It's a huge difference over time in what we earn.
Thank you so much.
Heck the pennies are dropping all over the place. I was imagining having to pay the £1 every time I tried to verify the same card.
You're right it will make a big difference over time, so I feel it's worth the effort.
It was a clear as mud to me before this, despite talking to Amazon and Mastercard, you're explanation has beaten them both. I've just successfully credited my account with £7, now I'll sit and wait.0 -

did you read what Amazon say about using pre-paid cards?https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201895590
I have never ordered a master card via SB, but , unless anyone can tell me otherwise I believe that each time you redeem its like getting a new card (with a new card number) and this process would have to be gone through again.
The £1 goes back on the card once its authorised but that can take up to two weeks
It is possible e.g. to redeem SB for a £10 mastercard,
buy a £5 gift voucher on Amazon - apply that to your Amazon account,
wait a while till the £1 authorisation expires and goes back on your card balance -
buy another £5 Amazon voucher.
Rinse and repeat
It does seem like rather a lot of hassle though and if (as I believe) this process would have to be gone through each time you redeemed for another mastercard it would have to be monitored very carefully to keep track of it.0 -

Thank you for your reply, yes I read the terms and conditions, but I was more confused by the first paragraph which said Can't be combined with other payment cards on a single order. It did say that some banks may require £1 registration, but actually it's taken every time. I thought they would wait until the card was verified and then credit me the whole amount. I'm easily confused, I didn't realise how it all worked until thisone kindly explained, then it all made sense, well at least to Amazon.
Yes every new card will be a new credit card number and it will involve the same convoluted method of crediting to the Amazon account. I don't think it will involve careful monitoring though as every card is kept in a virtual wallet and you can see exactly how much is left on any card. I'm going to try it and see with the hope that the amount of Swagbucks needed for a direct Amazon voucher will return to the previous value and I can go back to that method. In the meantime I've just put £7 out of the £10 on my account, then had an email to say it had credited and I'll wait for confirmation that the £1 has been returned to me and then I'll add the remaining £3 balance to my account.0 -

You don't have to buy a gift card. I went through this process last week, and found a very helpful chap on Amazon help, who explained about the £1 taking time to be refunded, but said that I did not have to use the Mastercard against a particular order, I could just add it to my credit balance. When you go to the page View Gift Card Balance, you have the option, right beside Redeem a Gift Card, to Top Up Your Account, and you can specify the amount rather than take one of their offered options. So you can top it up with the remaining £9, and when you get the £1 back you can top it up with that as well. Then, of course, you can spend your credit balance on anything you want.0
