Tree pruning over the weekend, I'm extremely proud of myself
I was up a ladder to get at the witchhazel, spreading shade all over the south-facing border. Didn't do as much as I wanted, of course, but it was good.
Constant, nitpicky attention to the environmental group madness over the weekend - I tried my very best to ensure it happened, sent out a general date-and-time reminder, and gave myself 3 hours to get ready to leave the house to get there well on time. My upset stomach, however, knew more about the situation than I did, and I missed the bus I'd been aiming for all morning. So I resigned over WhatsApp on the spot, the 2nd to do so. By the time I got home (the long way round) another two had resigned, from the horror of all the to-and-fro. So that's 4 of the 7 who showed up last month, which says it all really.
I have to wait to resign from the WhatsApp group because I'm the administrator! Blokey won't do the right thing, I'm quite sure, but I'll wait and see. It's taught me the usual lesson - listen to my gut!
Anyway ... I've recovered, and not sure what to do this afternoon, unexpectedly free. Probably some more weeding, as the green bin is being collected tomorrow. And I have a trip out on Wednesday! To the coast! On the train and meeting my sister there - this is the height of adventure! 🤣🤣🤣

Weeding and pruning are definitely therapeutic KC - did a bit myself this morning, if only to prempt the idiot next door from hacking at my lavender and jasmine so he can get his !&#£% muddy bike through on the weekends as his wife won't let him take it through the house!
The sunshine however was glorious and I discovered self-seeded parsnips in all kinds of places they shouldn't be! Tomorrow's job is clearing some errant moss and cutting back either the heritage rose or the raspberries!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Thanks both! I need to pay attention to the seedlings, actually, I've watched them avidly, but not actually *done* anything since they showed their heads. I did some weeding this afternoon, but knackered my left knee again, which is a complete pain
literally
I've also peeled some potatoes 🤣 I know about scrubbing them etc, but my heart wasn't in it, and eating them at all is a great thing. Just about to chuck some frozen veg in with them, that can also be roasted - sweet potatoes and parsnips. Happy daysCan't do much more because of the knee, so I'll watch some machine sewing videos from elna on youtube.

Hello teapot! Knee pain got a bit tricky, because of the sideways movement that caused it, but its a lot better over the course of the day, thank you very much. I'm off for a walk tomorrow with my sister (we're going to a seaside town!!! we're going to see the sea!!!) so that will be lovely - there may be a few 🦀 🐚 (crabs and shells
) which are always fun.
It's distracted me a bit today, I must say, I got bored with the computer but wasn't able to do much physically. Tres annoying 😎 but things are getting tidier and tidier, so I can start to begin new projects, finally. Tidying up has *some* benefits 🤣2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -

Thank you both - it was *so* good to get out and about. We actually went to a fort, a mid-19th century thing that was in use until the end of WWII, which was fascinating in itself. A Palmerston fort, they call it - an invasion scare of the late 19th century. There were a few places I couldn't go because of my knee, but a single admission price enables readmission for a whole year, so I'm very chuffed, I'll definitely go again.
I learned a lesson on train timetables these days: if they're announced as 5 minutes late when they're a couple of stops away, they may, in fact still be on time. That happened with all three of my trains 🙄 the first one I could have got, on the journey home - I turned up at the platform a few minutes before the amended time, and the doors were already locked, I had to wait another 30 minutes 😶 and I was freezing: I'd gone for a walk round the station to warm up, and it really didn't work 🙄
The journey went really well though - I keep forgetting about the nice easy entrance at the back end of the station, closest to my route, and its great. Train felt very clean too. And it stops at a country stop as well, I'll investigate that too as a destination for country walks, that'll be lovely.2023: the year I get to buy a car5
