Gosh, what a sad situation with your family. Grieving people do strange things sometimes I suppose (and some people are just downright odd or inconsiderate regardless). Hope you're ok. I like the idea of you doing something separately to commemorate your aunt xx
I loved those colourful sofas!5 -
The private little memorial is something I'd thought of too, you're both right, and we've spoken of it. Sister wasn't keen for herself, but she'd go along with it for my sake. Auntie loved going paddling, maybe we go down to a quiet beach and read a little poem. I sort of wonder about wartime trauma as children, the blitz etc, but even that can't be the whole story - as beanie says, families. They're just strange, very strange.
Anyway, it all has to be just accepted, I have no power to do anything or make any changes. So my concern has to be my brother and his local daughter in law, who both currently have covid.
And with that, I think I'm off quite soon - thank you all. Some quiet reading before bed, I think.2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Had a quiet day today: tidying up in case my sister needed to come in (she didn't) and we went for a walk - I have a predictable route now, everything's nice and open, a lot of it is circular, I can live with it. Everything's suddenly calmed down, though I have some admin I want to do over the weekend, and garden rubbish to collect for the green bin collection next Tuesday.2023: the year I get to buy a car5

Glad things are calm for you, KC. Calmness is a gift. xxx5

Thank you hon, it actually feels like that, yes. Chaos and uncertainty are resolved, and free to move forward now - as positively and quickly as possible, knowing what else is in the world.
One favourite modern ability for me is the ability to watch tv programmes at a time that suits me, not the broadcastersJust watched Matt Baker doing his thing for his mum and dad, and after a bit I'll watch WILTY, the one that's on right now, then scoot off to bed. Happy days 🐑

Just caught up - how sad that your family did that with the funeral - sorry to hear that x
Great news on all the money coming in - I know you've had a battle with Sains, but at least they've been decent with compo - none of this piffling £50 type figures - sometimes they are more of an insult than a refusal would be!
I love patterned sofas - our first ones were turquoise and green with huge overblown pink poppies all over (each bloom the size of a dinner plate or more) - if you're paying for it then furniture should make.you smile as well as be functional (and comfortable, of course!) 😃 xI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £205 -

That's absolutely true, isn't it! Virgin did that to me: they shut down the email address I had with them because I was moving from phone broadband to fibre broadband - but it was the address that was printed on all my leaflets about self employment! It took years to sort out, literally, and they offered me £5!

The one before that was fantastic - I bought the frame second hand, got an upholsterer to come along and measure up, and he made bespoke covered cushions, in a lovely abstract swirl like a mix between Turner and Van Gogh. That's me decided, I'll do the same again - patterns upon patterns 💚🌺🌟🦄😽🐶🐰🌈🐟😎🐲🐔

The interiors I most admire are the ones where they've been a little clashy or a bit wacky with pattern. I think it shows confidence to break the rules and break out of the greige!4

I agree! My current house may be absolutely filthy, but its so tonally subdued it's making me a bit crazy2023: the year I get to buy a car2
