I loathe flying ants. As a kid, I remember having to go into a greenhouse full of them to get something. Ugh!!!!!

Yep, I'm really not a fan myself! I was hoping for the blackbirds to come and eat them, like last time, but perhaps they were moving around too quickly
Weeding went well! Back is on the mend, and I'm going to carry out my plan first thing tomorrow, to take the niche books into BHF for the online listings.2023: the year I get to buy a car4 -

) but I was in pain overnight, and didn't finally wake up properly till 8.50 **blue shrieky smiley, and many of them**. Not quite sure what to do - I've downloaded a few profiles and histories from Linked In, of nephews etc, for the family history, but I need to do something - might just take a walk ...

Thank you both
I went on my medium-length walk this morning, to see the terrapin
put the wm on, knelt down to cut half of the grass (much easier kneeling down) and I've just been out a short walk now, a sort of circular cul de sac locally. Cats, the crows from the nature reserve, and a lot of big trees
that was a good move, and it also might mean I can sleep tonight.

That sounds like a good day.

Not bad at all, apple, that's true. I also downloaded some CVs from Linked In, of nephews and their wives - I think of genealogists 200 years in the future when I do stuff like that
I imagine them born on Mars, "coming back" to the old planet
for the first time.
Today - council run healthy walk, wm on again, quite a bit of lollygaggingbut this afternoon, I'm going to get to grips with the vacuum cleaner again
I'm also going to check out my goals for July.

1 double glazing renewal cleaning and tidying has partly been about getting 2 rooms in a fit state for glazing people to come in. I'm happy enough with how things are to start checking out who's available and how conscious they are of minimising materials used and recycling whatever they can. I want the ones with "venetian blinds" inside the glazing, to save on the number of surfaces I haven't cleaned. And I'd like a fitted fly screens like the others I have.
2 holiday in England, a couple of hours drive away, so there *shouldn't* be any problems with it.
3 gardening argh, shallow rooted perennials *have* to be dug out, weeding is necessary...Harvesting needs to be included - perennial onions, oregano, winter savory, lemon balm and rhubarb are really getting into their stride!
4 cleaning oh dear, this has become it's own topic. The skirting boards are still disgusting.
5 genealogy work I'm finding some quirks that *don't* belong to our families - its just as important to rule people out as to rule people inIt will certainly do for July as well. So:
1. double glazing renewal. The mess of packing for a self catering holiday has really put me backbut I'm almost there once again.
2. holiday: took it, it worked! Huge success story.
3. gardening oh dear. No harvesting whatsoever. I'm working on clearing the space for the mint and sage plants - hundreds, literally, of ordinary weeds and baby sedge plants, as well as shallow-rooted perennials. Situation under the mahonia is critical! Situation between the rosemary and the old buddleia on the other side is also critical! Dee dah, dee dah, the siren goes
4. cleaning. Kitchen table cleared and cleaned, a few bits of edges-of-the-rooms done. Stairs will be done this afternoon. Much more effort needed.
5. genealogy. Been doing Newspaper Archives and now Linked In stuff. And I was in the middle of AncestryDNA too, must check on that.2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Ug, I got complacent about my back - I pulled aside a drooping hazel branch to take a photo of an errant holly, wanting to send a photo of it to my brother to see if he wants that too, and I could try to dig it up (doubtful, actually, its less than an inch from the hazel tree). But I wasn't supporting my back because I was holding aside the branch, and I had a *bad* twinge.
Not going to do the gardening or cleaning I had scheduled - we're off to a beach about an hour away tomorrow, just for a day trip and a paddle, so I'm not jeopardising that. So the only things I'm doing today are what need to be done: prepare a bag for tomorrow, including food, get the rubbish into the waste bin for collection tomorrow (it'll be 4 weeks, so it needs doing), go for a walk to stay upright - I can walk to the postbox, birthday card to be sent. Pass the time doing core body exercises (to help counteract the back twinge) and hurrying up downloading the newspaper archives I need.2023: the year I get to buy a car5
