Short experimental post - my diary is forbidding me from posting, "8 characters too short". We'll see if it likes shorter posts, then I can post my long one

Yes!!! Ha!
Well, I'm back, lovely people, and I can't tell you how happy I am. Here's what I've been trying to post for the last hour ...
There's a saga of internet-lessness, one new computer, three new modems, a wait for a tech engineer, an overload on my phone (plus I needed wifi to download phone updates, and that was a whole other story. In the middle of last week, though, my neighbour finally persuaded me to once again try my ISP, and I did. It wasn't going terribly well - took me an hour to accept that I couldn't find a phone number to contact them, so I had to make do with textchat. After I mentioned about how my devices had been dropping off my router one by one, and I couldn't sort out how to fiddle faddle the new one (I'm very stressed about tech right now!) all the dark clouds miraculously cleared, and they said "we'll send you a new one free of charge, plug and play". Even now, it kind of brings tears of joy to my eyes!
Well, it arrived at lunchtime, and I've spent the last few hours daring myself to switch it on, and then downloading security patches and updates, for my phone and my (old computer). Haven't got round to my new computer or my kindle(s), I just wanted to come home (i.e. here!) as fast as my fingers could type.
Finances are a bit muddled right now because of internetlessness, but thats okay. I might still be able to get a refund for the 2nd modem router, which would be nice, but I can't currently get too worked up about any of the finances - without the internet/the mse crowd to cheer me up, the death and suffering of the last few months has been very obvious, and I'm very lucky to have avoided it all. As its so far along in the pandemic, I *am* hearing about a few very elderly relatives who've died of Covid, one of which was hospital acquired, poor man. But all of my little extended family through my brother and sister are well, for which I'm very thankful.
And now that I have my normal wifi access back, I'm going to sit on mse for hours

Hiya! Yep - that little post was a successful experiment, so I put my longer post immediately below it, you may not have seen it because we almost kindof crossposted. Happy to see you! Off to your diary now

I saw your longer post - it all sounds very exhausting. Enjoy being back in contact with the outside world!4

Colour me "oops"My garden *still* isn't fully finished, by the way, there are still brambles and nettles here and there. But a lot of positive stuff has gone on - notably that when weeds are dug up, once I've got around a square foot clear, I'll put some bark mulch down - everything looks nicer and stays nicer, and I have a chance of getting to grips with it all completely. I'm also doing a lot better on picking up weed seedheads before they let loose, which will help me no end next year. I have to be out there pretty soon right now - green bin day is tomorrow morning. I'm clearing a space immediately outside the back door for mint, its a two foot wide border, pretty shaded, very isolated in terms of spreading and overpowering other plants.2023: the year I get to buy a car2

Deleted User who pm'd me on 3rd June'I'm so sorry things didn't work out on here - I've had trauma of my own on another forum, and I know how quickly it can happen, and how awful it feels. I hope you're doing okay, and haven't been too badly affected by it. It was certainly a pleasure to have you on here for a little while. Thinking of you.2023: the year I get to buy a car3

Thank you apple, much appreciated. The computer isn't switching itself off the way it used to, that may have been caused by the router dying, though it has done it once when I was tidying up my genealogy research offline. I'll get to the new computer soon.I've been thinking of you because of the raspberries too! You know the way people talk about mint taking over? That's what the rasps have done, extremely prolific, they must *really* like my soil, it's been brilliant.Got to do a shoutout to RTandon too: RT, you were a beacon of sanity and friendship for me, thank you so much, I really, really appreciate it. We'll climb to the top of another stone age hillfort one of these fine days

Oh, saw this after I saw you'd replied on my thread - so glad to have you back (and that you didn't need to start a new thread).
Also very glad to hear that your close family are all well.
Raspberries *do* spread, don't they? It's wonderful!
