TV lost in transit

Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice on an issue I'm having trouble resolving.
In November, I purchased a 49" television from Amazon Warehouse using a credit card (Mastercard). As it was a Warehouse deal (effectively a returned item which is deemed fit for resale) the item was described as having small scratches on the TV stand and small scratches on rear and sides of item. Upon receipt, the TV appeared as described but when turned on, a vertical 1 inch wide dead panel ran the full length of the screen. So I decided to return the TV yet had to organise my own return as Amazon did not provide that facility.
I used a website called Interparcel to provide quotes from Hermes, Parcel Force etc and subsequently used the website to fulfill the delivery through Hermes. I have since been told that the TV has gone missing and I will be given £25 compensation for a £500 TV. The item was last scanned by Hermes as received in their Scottish hub. This is the last known location.
Needless to say, I've made a regrettable decision not to take out extra insurance for delivery. Do you guys see any potential avenues for claims against either Amazon or interparcel here? Is it something Section 75 through mastercard could sort?
It's my understanding that through the consumer contract regulations, I should be able to claim a refund from Amazon through proof of return. I have done this yet they have rejected my claim and state that they will only refund upon receipt of TV.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Unfortunately, I can't see you have any avenue for reimbursement at all. Neither Amazon nor your credit card company have any liability.0 -
Thanks for the reply, MI, never again!
Transpires that TV's are an "excluded item" and can't be insured anyway. I do wonder just how a 49" TV goes missing though...0 -

That is correct, however it hasn’t been returned to the seller.0 -

It may still turn up now that the Xmas peak has passed. Have you pressured Hermes at all?0 -
Hermes will not provide details directly as my contract is with interparcel, sadly. Hermes have deemed the TV to be lost and as such, Interparcel have given up too.0

If it was faulty, Amazon should have paid for the return. They are usually very good at arranging it - why did they not in this case?0

Hi Camelot.
I believe their returns policy is dependent on item and on this occasion, asked me to "self dispatch" and provided printable returns labels.0 -

Amazon's website says they will 'pay for returns and often will provide a returns label' for damaged goods.
Did you report it as damaged or change of mind?0 -
