My 5 year plan

Thanks JoJoC, I haven't called them yet.
Was being a little bit lazy at the weekend, the thunder storm on Saturday took the wind out of my sails as we were out in the garden enjoying the weather up until that point! I'll do my home insurance and Virgin Media haggling the weekend after payday this month. Just don't feel like I've got the energy for it this week.
I'm out for a meal with work colleagues on Thursday so I'm taking the car to avoid the temptation to drink. Diet still not going as well as planned, I think the reality of the drop in wages is starting to hit home and my motivation has taken a hit. I'm back up north so going to the beach for a long walk tonight and sort myself out!
Not really got much else to report at the moment, nothing will change until payday but this month I think I'll be less inclined to make any overpayments until I see the impact that the drop in wages is going to have. Won't really have a clear picture of that until July's pay so looks like next month is going to be a quiet one too.

Absolutely choked with the cold today so working from home for once. So I finally got round to phoning Virgin and I'm not too happy with the outcome.
There's a new customer deal at £29 but they won't match it to existing customers. So I think when my current contract is up in October I'll be looking elsewhere. The person I spoke to was unhelpful to say the least and I've not been overly impressed with VM the last few times I've called them.
Last night's meal was nice and I didn't go overboard even though the boss was paying, partly due to feeling rubbish and also trying to lose weight.
Mrs fatrab's house has had a few viewings and has another one on Sunday, so fingers crossed someone likes it!
Other than that I don't have much to report this week, hopefully all will be quiet until the 25th.

VM are terrible. It took me 13 phone calls to finally leave them after they had been systematically scamming me (agreeing to one thing on the phone, then billing me differently etc). We're with Plusnet now and it's so much more straightforward!0

Morning Diary!
I've been noticing myself slip back into some old habits recently so I need to stop and remind myself why I started this thread in the first place.
Over the course of the past week I've had 3 take aways, 0 NSDs and I feel like money is just going up in smoke again.
Mrs fatrabs hours might be changing and we were talking about additional childcare that was going to cost £21 and she was saying it was an extra expense we couldn't afford. Then I started thinking - we spent £23 on a take away last weekend, £14 on kebabs on Wednesday and another £14 in a fast food place on Sunday. We also spent £16 in the pub on Sunday. Thankfully I'm off the beer or it would have been twice that amount!
So there's £67 - SIXTY SEVEN QUID - in one week!?!? No. This stops immediately.
I'm moaning in my OP that I didn't have money to pay my home insurance in full last year - £140 - well it's no bloomin wonder if I'm wasting that amount of money is it?
Time to re-boot, refresh and restart. Back to basics.
Time for a new spending diary. I have enough food for the next few days so a couple of NSDs are required immediately.
Time to stop kidding myself on.
If it's not in the plan - DON'T DO IT!You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

Thanks
To put things in perspective, I went to LIDL last night and bought my shopping for the week for £7.88.
Annoyed with myself, but I think it's becoming clear to me that I need to focus more on an accurate budget at the beginning of the month, so that I pay the maximum off my remaining debts and don't leave myself with any surplus for frivolous spending. You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!

Morning!
I got a phone call on Monday out of the blue from my old boss. I've worked for him 5 times throughout my career and he's offered me a job that's permanently based at home. It would mean a slight drop in salary but no more working away and I'll be there to see the wee one growing up.
I had planned that I'd do one more big project before moving home permanently. That would mean around another 2 years of working away and only being home 2-3 weekends per month.
I feel like there's been so much turmoil and uncertainty in the past few months that my head could explode!
If I take the new job things will be a lot tighter financially until Mrs' sells her house. But it's a good opportunity and paying a decent amount for a job based at home.
Decisions decisions.........
Otherwise, I've had 2 NSDs this week and should be another one today. Mrs fatrab is on her way up to Inverness with the wee one and we're staying up here until Saturday, then moving out of the flat by the beach. I'll be sad to leave it. It's been great.
Not had any offers on Mrs' house yet either so I think any hope of a quick sale is out the window. Just need to wait it out and hopefully the right buyer will come along.
This waiting game is no fun at all!!You can have results or excuses, but not both.Challenge - be 14 Stone BY XMAS!
