Great news on the mortgage overpayment. You seem very disciplined and focused now so sure that will be going down gradually over the next few years.

I love it up that neck of the woods Rab - a few years back we did a mini tour of that coast - Lossiemouth, Rosemarkie, Fortrose, Fochabers, Nairn, Findhorn. It was cold (March) but beautiful clear skies - the best way to see those parts of Scotland. Enjoy :)

Morning! Buckle up, there's a lot to catch up on....

Holiday went well, weather was amazing and we had a great time up north. Didn't get anything done at home, the wall hasn't fallen down and the hall didn't decorate itself while we were away!

Unfortunately (although not unexpected) my time up north is coming to an end. I'll be back in head office in Glasgow from July onwards which means a drop in take-home pay as my subsistence allowance will stop. I'll be sad to leave the area and I'll miss the extra income - I did make a profit from the allowance it was definitely helping towards the debt clearance which will now slow down a little. I am still sticking to my plan though!!

Mrs' house isn't on the market yet either. There's an error on the home report so hopefully it'll be corrected today and the house will finally be on the market.

My re-mortgage has been approved but I won't need the full amount applied for, so my payment will be lower than expected which is good. I can change the amount I need to borrow closer to the time once I have a more accurate settlement figure.

Looking forward to spending time at home once the dust settles, but I expect some serious turmoil for the next month or so. De-mobilising in such a short time is going to be a mammoth task.

So it's a waiting game again for things to take their course, but I do think the time has come to move home permanently, I'm getting too old for this working away from home malarkey. :)

Glad you had a good holiday. :) Shame about the extra money going, but more family time will be nice.

Just a wee update for the week, not had much of a chance to be on here recently due to work commitments.

Got my home insurance renewal notification through this morning. It's due at the beginning of July so I have a few weeks to shop around and see what the best deal I can find is. Current renewal quote is £146....

Will be happy when it's paid in full this time, and that'll be another box ticked in this year's plan!

I'm also going to do something about my Virgin Media contract soon. It's just gone up to £36/month for basic TV, slow Wi-Fi and a phone line that we don't use. It needs to go.

And Mrs fatrab's house is finally on the market!!

    Coasting along...... :)

Sorry to hear that the extra income is disappearing Rab, but as you say, maybe it suits you better now to be at home. And the drop in income isn't going to cripple you.

Just a note about Virgin Media - you can now ask them to take the phone line off your account. I tried to get a discount on my bill and they did give me a discount but when i mentioned i didn't use my phone line they said it wasn't a contract requirement now so they took it off and it dropped the price a little again. Not sure by exactly how much!
