Good morning everyone.
The moon was so very bright during the early hours of the morning, the sky was much brighter then than now.
Today is still a bank holiday here though I’m sure that some shops will be open. Not that I intend doing any shopping, my random spends have to cease this year, especially if I’m going to give up the stressful part of my teaching. There is plenty of food in the fridge and freezers.
Yesterday I sort of lazed around, watched some recorded programmes and read a bit. The walk didn’t happen as the weather was ferocious, the red sky turned almost black and then the heavens just opened. More due today, we have a yellow weather warning here.
nmlc - such sad news about your DM. I hope that things go well.
TA - just take things easy still. House work is not important. Keep taking in fluids, it really helps the coughing.
csarina - what a shock for you both, it’s good to read that your OH is home but take care of yourself too.
Now I must face the shower in the cold house too. There’s lots to do today so I can’t and won’t laze around!
I hope that everyone has a good and happy Tuesday.0 -
Morning everyone,
Am so sorry that the prognosis isn't better for your Mum nmlc it's so tough.
It's dry at the moment but it's not meant to last so heading over to the stables soon to get Lulu out and about, the yard owner is being a complete s*d now and keeping them off the paddocks saying they are waterlogged but he has acres of fields which aren't and will be ploughed up when we all go, gggrrr
I have the usual housework to do this afternoon, like others I fancy something lighter to eat so am thinking of a tuna & broccoli bake for tea.
Thinking of those with worries and troubles, get well wishes to our poorlies x
Have a good day folks.0 -
Morning all
NMLC im sorry to hear about your mum... be careful you don't stress yourself out at work and visiting.
Grey and miserable here today which does match my mood. Roll on spring I say.
Groundhog day again today Morrisons and lunch. I do hope they are ready for us after the Christmas break....I can imagine the banana stock person is busy already getting just the right ones to point at:D
Need to crack on with some work at some point too doubt there will not be much going on this week but need to set some things up for the coming month
Wont need food after lunch out but theres still plenty of cheese and biccies if required.
Right more tea required ...enjoy your day if you can :A0 -
A belated Happy New Year from the snoozers.
I'm sorry so many are having a tough time with illness and sadness, if I don't mention you it's because of my memory, not that I don't think of you - so especial hugs to FBO, NMLC, Csarina, TA and dumpling. Lainey, I hope you find a new home for Lulu soon.
We are still in Yorkshire and spent NYeve with friends who left yesterday and DD and SiL came down from Glasgow yesterday for the rest of the week.
Ziggypup is in disgrace, she chewed a book that SiL received from his dad. It was signed, with a dedication from a Celtic player and that page is in bits. I have sourced some special repair tape so hopefully we will be able to repair it. Just when they were saying that she had been so good in Glasgow too!
I need to meal plan and go shopping today, we all want to eat a bit more healthily. I didn't buy any nuts or chocolate nibbles for Christmas so I haven't got those left over, thankfully.0 -
Morning all
Gentle hugs to NMIC,FBO,Csarina and all those with worries
Today I am embarking on fly lady as the house is reasonably clean to start with
DD2 and her boyfriend arrive tomorrow before they go skiing so need to wash all their bedding and towels separately in fairy as he has skin problems so even washing her things in other powder can be a problem
Dinner tonight is chicken roast just a small one from before xmas I need to sort my freezer out as i have lots of YS stickers joints but no real dinners if you know what i mean
Right onwards and upwards need to get my car out of the garage and take DS to the gym he will make his own way home as he needs to pop to the bank and gets some bits for an upcoming trip to Iceland
Have a great day whatever you are up to x0 -
Judi maybe all the "useful" gifts could live in Grump's shed?
Not just Grumps but Youngests stuff as well.
Picture this... Youngest came downstairs after uprooting his backside from his pc chair last night and grabbed a bath towel...
Youngest: "Mom, have we got any shower gel, i cant find any under the sink"
Me: "Your asking me if we've got shower gel? You counted 8 bottles that you had for Christmas. Are you going to keep them for ornaments?".
He didnt say a word but i could tell he wasnt happy.
Ive collected the toiletries i received over Christmas that i will never use and they will be given to our local womens refuge. Someone is going to collect them later.
On a more serious note, ive had to have a bath to warm up.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Good Morning everyone and my thoughts are with those who are struggling at the moment Life is so cruel at times and it seems even more so with a new year starting and everyone being optimistic around you.NMLC I hope things are better for your Mum, try to keep busy if you can but don't over do it
dumpling I hope good things for you with becky and you get your girl back home soon.
csarina you too are struggling with health problems and T/A this cold bug is so debilitating I have had mine going on three weeks but so far luckily no cough just a constant stuffed up head.FBO I can't imagine how you are all coping Its a dreadful time for you all and you have my sympathy.
I think we are all here to send support to our 'virtual' friends at times when they need it, which is what friends do.
The weather is wet grey and decidedly nasty outside I have to nip to Dds to pick up a left over chicken carcass which will be stripped of meat and made into two or three meals of the curried sort for my freezer plus a plated up dinner from last night that Dd rang to say was for me for tonight They had a large chicken last night for dinner but I have been staying away for a few days with this grotty cold bug as I didn't want to pass it on.So when she rang she said pick it up in the morning and take the carcass as well as I know you will make something from itShe knows me so well There wasn't enough left overs to make them a meal as there are 6 of them with DGS Ben home from Uni so its going to be transported to my kitchen for me to work a bit of magic on
:):) Bless her she knows I would go mad if she binned food
:)
I also have to do a cash audit of my accounts as its the start of a new year and the end of the old one hopefully I shall see what sort of savings i have made and will make in the new year Time to organise d/debits and see what can be trimmed here and there
I wonder what this year will bring, for me I know in March I shall become a great.grandmother as DDs eldest daughter is due with a little girl. My DGS Ben finishes at Uni in June and will then hopefully start his PGTC in September, and another DGS, Ben's next down brother Jack starts at Uni in September also. Its going to be an expensive year I think as I help to support them. More belt tightening ahead:):)
I know we will sadly lose our dear 'fighting Frank as he survived Christmas and new year but my eledset DD said he is deteriorating and is on morphine for his pain now every four hours. His wife Margaret is not coping very well either and has been poorly over the holiday bless her.
But we will cope somehow, as we always do, by pulling together as a family.
I hope everyone here has as best a day as they can and soon the days will lengthen and the spring will be here with new life appearing in the garden and for my DGD her new little baby girl
Take care everyone and try to keep warm and dry .I know the forecast isn't brilliant for our friends in the north so get those hatches battened down
Love 'n'stuff

Tiredmum2,
What a good mum - special wm load for DD’s boyfriend!
I second the “gentle hugs” to all those with worries.
Hope DS has a great time in Iceland - it is beautiful there & I hope he is luckier than my DH & I- we never did see the Northern Lights but we did have some “interesting” food while we were there & we were adventurous with our food choices.
Have wrapped a few non-Christmas parcels & will be venturing out to the P.O.later. Then on to sm for a very small shop.
Then baking + large chilli which we will probably have for several days - I am trying to empty freezer at the moment.
Enjoy your day everyone even if the weather is trying hard to make that difficult.
