O/S Daily Tuesday 2nd January 2018
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone

Still dark here, damp and cooler too.
Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces and HM egg fried rice, tonight will be disjointed so not sure.
Not great news from the hospital, although at times yesterday she was a little more responsive, then became unresponsive, late last night they were going to do another ct scan and was told if there was anything found from that I would get a call/contact - which I haven't, so assuming there's no major change. Although she's now also on antib's as her temp was up during Sunday night and I got a nurse yesterday as I felt she was still too warm and she had a temperature yesterday. We know there won't be a full recovery, the damage is too big and extensive, if there is any recovery it won't be back to how she was before this happened. We've also had the awful DNR discussion's so that's in place if it's needed. We're visiting as much as possible and supporting each other, but not the best start to 2018.
I was waiting to see how things were last night as to making a decision regarding going back to work today - and I've decided to go in today and tomorrow unless there's any major changes, I'll be speaking to my boss this morning and putting them in picture and also asking if my role can be changed so I can work on the telephones in a back office, I don't feel up to facing the customers at the moment and it's likely the phones will be busy. I'm on days off at the end of the week so going back today and tomorrow may help keeping my mind occupied for a while.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
I'll be getting ready for work in a few minutes but not rushing for an early start as I worked some of the days when I was meant to be off. Not looking forward to it but I have a day of planned paperwork so I like be busy at least.
Last night, OH cooked a small chicken, marinated and roasted in garlic and herbsm served with a lovely big green salad. Delicious and I shall be quite safe if attacked by vampires on the bus this morning. We had cheese and biscuits but to our great displeasure, our cheese-hating son discovered that the biscuit package contained some types that he likes so naturally those are all gone.
Deleted_User I hope that you have a better day today.
FBO, keeping you in my thoughts.
I hope everyone has as good a day as possibleI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
Nmlc I’m so sorry to hear about your mum, I will be thinking of you and your mum.
Csarina I hope that you and your OH feel a bit better today.
FBO keeping you and your family in my thoughts.
Dumpling I hope that Becky is doing ok.
I came home late yesterday evening after a nice time at my brother’s house for New Year. I did wonder how I would find the house as my niece had taken it over to entertain her friends, and I was really pleased to find that it is nice and clean and tidy.
As my niece has done all the housework all that I need to do today is a load of washing and I will need to go and get some fresh veg and salad bits. I have got some ready meals my brother bought me so that I don’t have to cook for a while, but I will cook if I feel well enough to and will freeze the ready meals for future emergencies.
I feel that I want some plain food after all of the stollen and mince pies I have been eating over the past month. I have a craving for fish, just with some steamed veg, something fairly light.
Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.0 -
Good morning everyone, seems damp out there, don't know what the temp is. No frost anyway.
Well the New Year is well and truly in. We started taking the decs down yesterday, got the cards down and the smaller decorations are now put away. We have quite a lot of Christmas stuff, lit pictures, glittery reindeer on the hearth, multi coloured foil bells up at the windows. (I know, tacky) so the place looks really bare without it. Will finish off today.
We had home made fish and chips last night, very nice it was, too. I've got stuff in the fridge to use up, so that will serve for today.
I usually have an exercise class on Tuesday mornings, but it doesn't start till next week, but there's plenty of tidying to do here which will keep me busy, and it's our usual quiz night tonight.
Hope you are feeling a bit better Csarina.
Nmlc, hoping you've had some positive news about your Mum.
Thinking of FBO and family.
Aod, I'm sure no self respecting vampire will come anywhere near you, if they do just breathe really hard.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
I am freeeeezing this morning so I am going to quickly post this and then jump in the shower and get dressed. I have a busy day planned so I would like to get organised.
Steve and the girls are still fast asleep, he still has a few days left of his holiday so he is making the most of them. Phoebe has school tomorrow so she is also going to enjoy her last day of freedom. Lilly is still working for this week so I will make sure she is up in a little while.
I have to go to the hospital this afternoon to finally meet my dietician. We have had to cancel two appointments in the past 6 months so all being well, today is the day. I am not looking forward to being weighed and measured but I am interested in hearing what help is available to me. I am not interested in weight loss surgery but definitely need to overhaul my diet and lifestyle and this seems an appropriate time of year for all that.
I must remember to get some steak out as I am making beef stroganoff for tea tonight. Lilly wants to start cooking for herself as part of 'adulting' so she gave me a shopping list and the food is being delivered this afternoon. She needs to think about budgeting though as it included lots of unseasonable fruit which not only costs a lot but doesn't even taste of much. I am glad, however, that she is finally taking an interest in cooking.
I did an inventory of the inside freezer and then sorted out a meal plan as part of doing the grocery challenge this month. I look forward to emptying out the drawers and giving it a good clean and defrost. The outside one needs doing too but baby steps and all that.
I spoke to Becky last night and she seems a lot brighter in herself. I miss her so much and it was very sad not having her here on NYE but she is in the best place for now. Hopefully she will be discharged this month.
Well, that is all from me for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx
ETA, hugs to you nmlc, I am sorry that the news about your mum wasn't so good xx
Thinking of you FBO as well xx
csarina, I hope you and Mr csarina are feeling a bit better today xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. So sorry the news about your mum isn't better. I am thinking of you, as well as FBO and her family.
I never got on here yesterday but have just read back on all the posts.
I feel so jaded and weary all the time with this virus dragging on and on. All I want to do is slump on the sofa all day and sleep, I just wish the neverending cough didn't keep wakening me.
I want to make the effort today to take all the Xmas clutter and tree down if I CBA. It's getting on my nerves looking at it.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all the poorlies, those looking after poorlies, and everyone worried or sad. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc, so sorry about your mum.
Hugs to all those in need especially Csarina, dumping, FBO and family
CHS is back to work today but on the late shift, once I've dropped him off I'm taking one of my dgd's shopping, she wanted clothes for Christmas so we are off to Primarni, her shop of choice.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Cold and dark here but no rain atm, off to work for mereally don't want to go I shall miss my afternoon nap and film :rotfl:
OH is still off this week so he will be in charge of domestics, I will get something out of the freezer after this, the house is not looking too bad but could do with a quick tidy round.
Csarina I do hope your OH recovers quickly xx
Dumpling Good luck for today x
NMLC thinking of you and hoping for good news xx
Right better shift myself and gird my loins for the manic day ahead !
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
I'm definitely feeling the cold, this morning. I contemplated not opening the windows up but have done so then promptly jumped back into bed!
Sorry to hear that so many are facing difficulties with loved ones health. It is difficult at any time of year, but more so around now
Plans for today, once I manage to get out of bed again are to clean what I can, in the kitchen (edest will take care of the rest) and to get the washing machine on as there are a couple of loads at least, waiting to be done.
I don't need to cook today as there was some hm vegetarian bolognese in the freezer, which I will have with butternut spaghetti and girls can make up some pasta.
I need to sort out my work routine. It's great working from home but there are a lot of distractions - the dogs being the main onebut I need to be disciplined about it otherwise I don't get things done.

Good morning all,
nmlc sorry that the news of your mum isn't better.
FBO still thinking of you
TA I was reading the symptoms of Aussie flu yesterday and it appears that is what you've had. I seem to think you've had your cough for more than 3 weeks now so maybe a trip to the doctor and a request for a short course of steroids might be a good idea if you're struggling so much at night?
Washing and ironing day today I think. The washing basket isn't that full but the ironing chair overfloweth! Downstairs needs tidying but I want to combine that with a little decluttering so I may get the HT to help with that tomorrow. I'm still taking it easy as although the cough isn't keeping me awake like TA (probably because I do have steroids) my ribs are still aching a bit from the last week.... I have crochet and knitting on the go so plenty to do while I'm having a sit down.
I need to go and liberate something from the freezer for our evening meal. I'm thinking curry tonight....I didn't buy much extra for Christmas so there's nothing much in the way of left overs except for some posh crackers. As cheese is always popular here I can't see them sticking around much longer either
Take care all of you0 -
Morning all.
Its such a relief to have the men back at work I can tell you. We have had so many arguments.
The house is full of tat. Stuff that no one will use but 'might come in useful one day' and being that a lot of this tat was gifts I can hardly throw them away.
Such a lot of cleaning to do today but I'll wait for the house to warm up first and ill see how much I can do.
csarina I hope you both had a peaceful night. FBO thinking of the family. Dumpling glad you spoke to Becky and good luck for today. About 12 months ago I considered weight loss surgery but for the first time EVER I was told I wasn't fat enough.:D
Oh well,
Onwards and forwards
