Why should he have respect for anything? The only thing the law can do these days is deprive people of property, and in very very extremis (and if the prisons aren't too full) - their time. If you have no identifyable property, and your time is worthless - there is no punishment and hence no deterrence.

But don't call it anarchy. Police Chiefs seem to take the assumption that you may feel they're not being effective. That upsets them.

Hi JW, just caught up with this thread and I am sorry that the little !!!!!!!s have caused you so much grief. Trouble is kids don't realise how much grief they cause do they. I suppose you have to wait for the bike to be recovered before you can make an insurance claim??? Will you be able to claim the extra travel costs incurred under your policy??? Hope it turns out for you in the end. Lenny

I had my front room window put through by a !!!!ed up 15 year old two weeks ago. You will be fine when the anger/ upset subsides in a few days, remember it's not personal and the little bastids will get what they deserve one day. Keep smiling.

Several people on this thread have said much the same thing as you, but you know, I think they do realise the grief they cause, they just don't give a sh*t.

There should be some sort of short, sharp shock treatment for them, like National Service, though I don't suppose the army wants the dregs of society either.

I agree that they realise how much grief they cause but they do not appreciate the ramifications of their actions on other persons; something they will only learn for themselves through example or experience; sadly some of them won't even realise this.

There are alternatives which would act as punishment for those people without anything to lose, but hard labour these days would probably be stuffing envelopes.
