Positive Balance: Focused on Budgeting

Well done on getting the compensation and returning the "bargain". I refuse to be drawn into buying things that are reduced to entice people into buying them unless I would have bought them at full price anyway. As you know, I am currently running up debt trying to get a business off of the ground. I decided to change my relationship with money from "I can't afford it" to the money will be along in time.
So far: I secured a business start up loan just before I ran out of money, a tax rebate came in just in time for me to do some advertising and I was finally paid for the marking done in November the day before I had to pay my course fees for retraining.
Am planning trips abroad this year even if I have to do the washing up once I get there!"A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."
I still am Puddleglum - phew!0 -

Wow! Well done! :T
Perhaps I'm now reaching the point where I've mostly got the budget under control and can afford to relax a little, too. (Not take my eye off the ball entirely, of course, but relax a tiny bit. I still need to get the food & transport budgets under control 100% of course, and I found another category to add to my sinking funds/pots for next month (mobile insurance), so perhaps not too much! :rotfl:)Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! What a sweetheart you are, Wannabe. :kisses3: I have been working stupid hours this past week or so, but all is well!
Quick update: I've spent a little bit more than I should on food and mostly chocolate and sweets to fire me through the past week, plus spent £17.99 on a new bed for Fido tonight. I hope Fido likes it!
Anyway, I had better go. I'm going to spend tomorrow cleaning my abode and next week will be another Week From Hell but hopefully all well worth it! :TDebt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20

£1.80 travel expenses paid to my CC to bring the balance down to £2144.41.
God help my budget next month...my non-existent social life has absolutely exploded and I have about 6 months worth of social life happening in one month.
I'm going to have to have to have a think about this...Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20

Hello everyone!
It has been far too long...I have been working genuinely stupid hours hence the lack of posting. I had a lot of time to make up and now I have made it up I hope to be able to relax a bit for the next few weeks. I need to get my work/life balance a bit more, well, balanced.
Also, my Brexit food stock worries have resulted in a £53 stock-up for the cat which was actually a good offer as there was a buy-one-get-one-half-price offer on her dried food which costs a fortune and a massive bag of kitty litter is getting delivered to my house for free. Apart from buying a few more sachets of wet food down the line, she should be fine for the rest of year.
This horrible weather has absolutely decimated my fence and my washing machine is in an equally bad state, so I'm looking for solutions to both of these potentially expensive problems. Hopefully, I have people in my life who can help with both but I'm waiting to hear back from them about them.
This month filled up rather quickly with social plans after months of nothing, but thankfully some of them have rearranged themselves so that's a bit less expense. Phew!
Honestly, I've been working so much my house and life feel a bit topsy-turvey so I'm going to spend the rest of the day cleaning it and generally getting some sense of order to proceedings.
I'll be back with figures sometime soon!
P.S. Due to the crazy expenses of this month I have only paid the min payment of £19.66 off my CC plus £1 extra so that I've paid *something* extra off. This now makes my CC balance £2123.75.
Every little helps, as a certain supermarket says!
P.P.S. The temptation to pay off the money from the exercise and martial arts classes I have missed is almost unbearable, but I'm sure I'm going to need this money for the fence and washing machine!Debt: £11,640.02 paid in full! DFD: 30/06/20
