Olliebeak - try a metal fabrication place - they use rivets all the time and you may find a nice man to help youSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Found loads of packs of old out of date dehydrated food in my cupboards. Most went out of date in 2016. Fine for me0

Make do: DH & I had chilli 4 nights in a row :rotfl: Thank heavens for soured cream, as was quite lively by the 4th night :rotfl:
Mend: my housework mojo - it is back :rotfl:
Minimise: loads of bits from freezer & los from fridge to make soup. ‘Unappealing’ to look at but very ‘appealing’ to eat  Also a bag of hm croutons from freezer.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Thanks for the sewing tip Silva - I'll try that instead next time! I've been experimenting with a special stitch on my machine that's meant to stretch, but it didn't work as well as i'd hoped. I think you're right and a zig zag would be a better bet! Your 'new' blue cupboards sound lovely
i bet they look great - and so satisfying to know you've made them over yourselves (no doubt for a fraction of the cost of replacements)! Do they still surprise you when you walk into the room? I do a double-take whenever i go in my kitchen now as even unfinished it looks so different. It'd be lovely to see a before-and-after pic of your made-over dining room if you have them
Aww thanks Mrs SD! I certainly don't feel like i have lots of energy most of the time :rotfl: Yes, it is going to be a big change - we are hoping to move around within the UK in the hopes of exploring places we might like to settle down. I've only lived in a couple of places and my OH has always lived in the same town, so we like the idea of seeing some more of this small but varied country that we live in! I mostly work from home (with the odd day on-site, hence why we want to stay in this country) so location doesn't matter, and OH will be doing the same for the next year or so, so we thought we'd seize the opportunity to travel a bit. I am a bit nervous as it will be totally different to our current lives, but i'm also really looking forward to the change! We do need to sit down and work out all the implications of selling vs. renting though as it's a tough choice.
DnD :rotfl: that letter! You could frame itI'm sure there will be an employer/job that is the perfect match for you and values your 'varied experience'! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Finally had a bit of time to start cleaning/painting the kitchen ceiling today, off to carry on now. Bet you are all jealous of my rock 'n' roll Saturday night :rotfl:0 -
Make Do & Minimise: Have used up every scrap of los plus used freezer food to create a space
Mend: My DSis’s knitting - she kept creating an extra stitch :rotfl:Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Rainbow - the units do look lovely but there's a lot of other work needs to be done to make them look stunning! My units were white with yellow walls as the room doesn't get a lot of light. We are taking a wall down which will makes vast difference and I need to repaint the walls a very pale grey. DH also repainted the gas fire (can't replace it as it's part of the hot water/central heating boiler) from cream and brown to silver and gunmetal - looks very sleek now. DH has decided that as the repaint has been so successful he can do the same for my kitchen units too but I'll have a different colour.
Looks like a big make do and mend - the minimising comes every time I clean a cupboard out when he takes a door off.
My make do and minimise yesterday was a batch of spag bol for the freezer and a banana loaf with the overipe fruit DH bought. Didn't have any sultanas so snipped up the remains of a bag of soft apricots instead - hav'n't tasted it yet but smelled nice!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
silvasava, the banana loaf sounds wonderful - unfortunately the only thing DH cannot stand is, yes you’ve guessed - bananas - hate is not too strong a word :rotfl:
Make Do: 2nd night of Beef & honey stew, with the last of the potatoes. DSis is not a fan, so enough for a double portion for freezer & dinner for DH & I tomorrow, this time with rice :T
Mend: One t-shirt, one polo top & 2 pairs of knicks
Minimise: Dozen heathers planted & the plastic pots & tray binned.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Haha Mrs SD - DGD nipped in with her friend yesterday afternoon - her friend had a slice of the cake and loved it - DGD was pulling faces as she can't stand bananas either!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Make Do - made a pattern from a handbag I own to make more - either sell or give away (depending on how they turn out) with the long-term goal of reducing the bags (yes, plural) of fabric scraps I have. They're not big enough for garments, but I keep them 'in case'.
Mend - Stitching on buttons and hemming a pair of work trousers
Minimise - After my clever OH made hanging racks for all the clothing which was hung over the house (minimalist & goth do not go together!) , we've been clearing out the bedroom and spare room, at least one CS bag filled. We're going to get some Really Useful boxes for storage of things like my patterns, fabric and craft stuff.2024 Fashion on the Ration - 10/66 coupons used

Last night I sat and mended my Mulberry Handbag :j.
I thought one of the rivets had snapped, but it turned out to be a screw with the 'head' on the outside of the bag and two other pieces on the inside.
Needed to unpick a few stitches in the lining to be able to get at the other pieces. All reassembled, the head of the screw put back into place, inside bit tightened with a 'tiny posidrive' and lining restitched.
Bag now as good as new :j!0
