Time for a quick check-in.
After a nicely uneventful train journey across France, all first experience of French local trains, the TGV and Eurostar, I'm safely ensconced at my sister's.
Now all I need to do is find a job. I do get the feeling that my age is against me. But I firmly believe that something will always turn up – as long as you keep looking.:D

So not much MMM'ing going on although I did indulge in the MSE highlighted No7 Advent calendar.

I did think long and hard and as most of my make-up is over 11 years old - that's when I moved to France and I can't remember how long before that I bought the stuff - so bought it and am currently getting rid of all the old bits and streaming down what I do have :rotfl:

I hope that counts

Morning All.
Rainbow - I'm waiting for the plasterer to give me a quote and when he can fit us in to do the two rooms that have been knocked into one. We have a 30's house with lime plaster that falls off with a breeze! Too big a job for DH to do. The tiles for the floor have a 3week lead time so I've taken the opportunity to get my sewing machine out before dusty work starts again so....... 2 pairs of DH overalls repaired, 1 pair of DS1 jeans repaired. A lovely CS top I bought tailored to fit me. 3 cushion covers cut ready to sew.
Minimised some leftover Patatas Braves and a sausage for my tea. Some ground coffee packs going to DS1 as we rarely use ground.
Not sure about any made do thoughSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Day five of my do-without-if-at-all-possible month
having done a stocktake last week I decided that this month will definitely be a strict Make-do one. Far too much stuff in my cupboards and although I have a wee bit of wriggle room in my freezer it really could be doing with a lot more .So nothing bought and no shopping done as yet
Full £60.00 food allowance in my food purse, and it clanged shut last thursday when I put it in there
.
I hope to do extreme minimising this month by useing up what I have and only buying essentials fingers crossed .
I have some mending to be getting on with and one is a cotton shopping bag which is bright canary yellow and the handle is getting very loose so I am on the hunt for some bright yellow cotton to sew it up .
I have a feeling I have some in the depths of my wool stash box so I will turn that all out and see what I can find .Failing me finding it I shall use white cotton and colour the stitching with yellow felt tip:):)
I also have some sanding down to do on a shelf that has been sitting in the conservatory awiting my sander so that's another job that needs doing this week
I shall make a small list of 'to-do' jobs as I shan't be going shopping and see if I can have a list of 'been -done' jobs:)
I also have a pile of scraps of soap ends that I keep meaning to grate and recycle into new bars. Silly jobs but its another to go on the list
Onwards and upwards chums

I've been doing a lot of mending. I have bought very few clothes since retiring 8 years ago, but I have bought fabric and made clothes. I now have a good number of 'good' clothes that I rarely wear (but nice to have them so I know I can look good) and a lot of 'round the house' clothes!
We too are running down the freezer, but get happily side-tracked. Neighbour gave us, as usual, grapes from her vine - they are quite sweet, but tiny and full of pips. She makes chutney with hers, but we only eat small amounts of chutney, so I make 'oxtail with grapes' once a year - happy memories of a short period of my youth spent in France 50 years ago. 2 lovely meals and a soup makes it good value.
Not sure if it's 'making do' but have enjoyed ordering seeds for my deep bed (early as I need autumn sown broad beans). In the bed at the moment: plenty of parsley, some lettuce, and I see spinach and lambs' lettuce coming through.0 -
Made do: Leftover roast chicken into 3 meals for the two of us and some leftover beef stew into a large pasty for DH. Used some Spinach Beet from the garden with our tea tonight.
Mend: Nothing but have started to make the first of 3 new cushion covers
Minimise: Nothing, apart from the chicken carcass as I've got plenty of chicken stock!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Sewed on 2 buttons to 2 work shirts, mended a hole in a glove, reattached a school backpack strap, mended several small holes in dds' tights, leggings and pyjama bottoms, mended a small hole in my woollen sweater.
I am integrating dds' and mines hair accessories, now that they are growing out of the girlygirly stuff. I have an wooden 8-drawer ikea cd holder in my bedroom which does not hold cds, but hair accessories, medication, clothes pins, make up, hair dryer, semi-medical/makeup/travel items (molkosan, temp tattoos, small empty make up remover bottles, sun cream, etc. I am trying to empty this small chest of drawers by consolidating and relocating; hopefully sometime in spring I will be able to get ridAre you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
I'm not sure if it's 'making do' with the pot of mincemeat left over from last Xmas - after all it would be perfectly OK made into mince pies. However, when I put the new batch on the shelves, I did as usual, and take down any left-over pots to be a treat.
Piled into baked apples on Sunday, and this morning, stirred a spoonful into my porridge!0 -

Plasterer coming this week so not much 'proper' MMMing. Just clearing the rooms to make sure he's got easy access . Sort of minimising but everything is stacked in other rooms! Food will have to be easy so probably as much out of the freezer as I can. I did manage to get out in the garden a few days ago and cleared the greenhouse of the dead/dying tomato plants and cucumbers. Emptied the tubs ready for next year and cleaned the greenhouse. DH helped me transplant 2 blueberry bushes into larger tubs so all ready now for next year. He also checked the paint stocks in the shed as the new plaster will need a couple of undercoats before a topcoat. We've got the remainder of tubs of white and magnolia so that will do - a bit of minimising in the shedSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
