    Hi everyone

Ive not been on the forums very much for the last 6 months or so, but Ive still tried to MM & M and now feel Im upto join in again if that's OK.

So Ive been trying to eat as much as I can out of the pantry, cupboards and freezer and not spend too much but I think I need to be a little more accountable!

Make do: Made all meals and treats without having to buy anything. Been to the lottie today and picked lettuce for gp to eat as well as picking more strawberries, rhubarb, gooseberries and broad beans. Made strawberry and apricot jam from ys apricots and strawberries from the lottie.(that was yesterday) and made a loaf of bread today in the BM as well as doing washing and drying it outside.

Mend: Not really mending but Im making dgd a summer dress, and have a pile of other things to make as well.

Minimise:Im in the process of trying to find things to cs, I haven't got a lot but theres always bits in the back of cupboards that dds don't want or I don't use anymore.

Mend :Just started my DGGD's 'blankey' in grey and white as asked for by her Mum, grey is the 'in' colour for babies apparently

Make do : freezer roulette turned out to be chicken casserole which was really nice

Minimising some wool from my stash to a friend who is also knitting squares for her DGGS's 'blankey' I had some nice powder blue that she was after :)

  • I'm not sure what category this comes under, but our shredder at work has had to be replaced and I've kept the plastic bin part if it, thinking it'll be very useful for storing odds'n'sods in in my shed!

    I'd call it a "make do". :D

On a similar theme, I'm ordering a new suitcase on wheels (we don't think of ourselves as being "old" but we're definitely not spring chickens any more ;) ). I won't be getting rid of the old one though as I'm going to use it as storage for my fabric stash that I'll be pruning down over the weekend. It will fit nicely under the bed in the spare bedroom and, since I'm using some of my loyalty points to pay for the new one, no cash will be going out of my purse.

I wish I could say the same for payment of the new mattress we've had to buy. :( It arrived yesterday and last night was the best night's sleep I've had for ages. So comfy and supportive - no aching back this morning. :):) The old one has left the house so a "one in, one out". :D Yes, I had to pay to have it taken away but the cost was the same as the Council would charge - the only difference being it's already gone whereas the Council collection could have taken up to 3 weeks and we would have had to put it outside as they won't enter your property.

Still minimising freezer contents (who isn't? ;) ) and trying hard to make space for batch cooking.

Binned a pair of well-worn sandals this morning and have a carrier bag of odds & sods ready to take to the CS next week.

Make do - moved some plants from one part of the garden to fill gaps in another area.

Mend - tv remote. Only changed batteries but had needed to be done for a month or so.

Minimize - packaging amongst other things.

YorksLass - can I make a suggestion re yournew case. A lot of them have external wheels on little castors - that get damaged when being manhandled. See if you can find one that has the wheels partly inside the case - they are much better and dont get broken.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Thanks silvasava, that's very useful to know and I'll bear it in mind. I've noticed from customer reviews I've been reading that the wheels can be problematic with some cases that are otherwise good.

I've used up a pad of very pretty Daily Planner sheets (gift from DD - she knows I love planners and lists) and minimised (recycled) the card at the back.

Another book from the "to read" pile finished and in the cs carrier bag.

Two items have left the freezer and been defrosted for dinner today - slices of lamb in gravy and a hm apple pie. I've also made custard for the pie to use up half a carton of LL milk; carton rinsed, squashed and in the bin (sadly, not recycleable).

    Happy MMM-ing everyone
