Good morning lovely ladies...a bit chilly here today. The "heatwave" didn't last long......
SUgarbaby - hope your test results are good.
Well I've had a nasty shock this morning, my blood sugar results....not good. I need to get a grip. I am going to have to be much much stricter for a while otherwise I'm going to be in trouble.
I have dug out my copy of the blood sugar diet and I'm going to follow it to the letter this time, no more half measures. I simply have to get a handle on this. On a positive note I have lost another couple of 1lbs.
House viewings are going well. Plenty of interest so keeping my fingers crossed for the offers to start rolling in.
Not sure what today brings but it has to be good food choices and getting more active.
Did anyone watch Hugh Wittinglys programme last night on obesity. Very interesting. I'm joining in.0 -
Hello Ladies,
Thank you Chanie and LL. I will just have to wait and see, but I am not going to worry about the results as it will be a waste of energy and ultimately it will not change the results.
I went to Karaoke on Tuesday evening, but it turned out to be just a night of dancing. I really enjoyed my evening of dancing. :j:D
I went to the cinema twice yesterday. I watched Phantom Thread (Silver Screen showing) then minutes later I watched Peter Rabbit using the last of my Groupon Odeon vouchers. I really enjoyed both films and would give Phantom Thread 8/10 and Peter Rabbit 8.5/100 -
Just read back and caught up on this week's posts.
I hope you get a diagnosis after your tests sugarbaby. You're right that there's no point in worrying but it will be good to get to grips with your health issues.
Bad news about your blood sugar too LL. I have read great reports about people controlling that with diet so good luck to you. I'm sure losing llbs. will help.:) I haven't seen the Hugh FW programme but I will catch up with it. As you know I try to follow the SW healthy eating plan to keep my weight where I like it and it's soooo hard when eating out. Everywhere I go seems to be bread or pastry or oil or cream or sugar added to recipes. A good cheap lunch if I'm hungry when I'm out is a Subway salad bowl. It's any of the ingredients they put in their rolls but without the bread. That's the mse :money:version which is fine if you can eat it in the park or somewhere nice but I also like Pret salads although more expensive.
Not sure how much you plan to spend on your sunglasses oneday. As I need prescription glasses for driving and distances I've invested in classic Raybans. I absolutely love them. I wear them all the year round when I can as they cut down glare AND they look so glamorous!
Thanks for the heads up on Apricot. I've seen their clothes in New Look and I thought it was part of their range rather than a brand in itself. I must check it out for summer styles.
Back from our short break. We had a really good time.
Our plan is to see a bit more of the UK by doing Land's End to John O'Groats in a series of short breaks when we can fit them in. We're not doing the shortest route like they do walking and cycling but a scenic tour. So this week we went down to Land's End via Plymouth and then mostly followed the North Coast (previously only been mostly to the south) as far up as Bideford before we moved inland through some of Somerset on our way home.:)
Today I've been out for a good walk and then came home to catch up on some emails and plan some fabbing! I've ordered the red dress in two sizes so we'll see what I think when it arrives. I've made an appointment to have my eyebrows waxed tomorrow as they're looking a bit messy. I'm thinking about tinting too. For Monday I've booked a hair appointment as it needs a trim now ready for the wedding (Saturday week) and then I can fit in another before my sunshine holiday in mid June.
Friday tomorrow!:D0 -
Maman you have done so well to not only lose Weight but also to maintain your ideal weight, you are an inspiration!!! You must be so happy.
Actually I have lost another couple of lbs today, so I have now finally broken the 13 stone barrier. A little victory.:rotfl: BMI also down a bit too.
I am going to follow Dr Michael Mosleys advice. I don't think I can manage to go as low as 800 cals every single day. He suggests that if you struggle going that low then follow the 5:2 plan, combined with healthy eating on your normal days. I am also going to combine it with the 16/8 fasting, where you fast and then try and eat within a 8 hour window. I rarely eat as soon as I get up so postponing breakfast till around 11 is no problem..
Apparently it is fasting and significant calorie reduction which can trigger a reversal of diabetes. A short sharpe shock.:rotfl:
Like you say it's eating out that's the problem, proper formal restaurants are ok, I can choose meat or fish with salads or veg. It's the lunch places and the more casual restaurants that cause me problems......all those wraps or pasta type meals.
Didnt know subway do a salad bowl. That's good to know.
Just said farewell to another viewer. He seemed to like it. I am going to see a property tomorrow. A barn conversion. It might be a bit too small but There no harm in looking. It is Grade II listed and although the developer has followed all the rules I do think the inside might be a bit too modern but I'll go and take a look.
That's the problem with being a Grand Design wannabe, I get quite disappointed when I see how some developers spoil the integrity of a building. Thats why I prefer buying wrecks. :rotfl:0 -
lessons congratulations on your weight loss.
Maman your tour of the UK plans sound amazing. I hope your red dress is a keeper.
Sugar that!!!8217;s a lot of cinema trips in one day!
I had my shopping day at Westfield and bought a summer midi dress, some cigarette trousers, a t shirt and a cardigan, all with a decent natural fibre composition. I made the effort to look nice and had lunch in wagamamas. I also got a great compliment today - OH asked me to pop into the casino to find out about us joining so that we can go in. The security guard nearly didnt let me in as they have a rule about checking IDs of under 25s. I told him he had made my day, as I am 38.0 -
Good Mornjng Lovely Ladies.
First the good news.......after my fast yesterday blood sugars are Normal. So,all I have to do now is to make sure I stop them spiking and that they remain the normal range. It is not just continued elevated levels that are bad but also spiking that is so dangerous. So I am going to continue intermittent fasting as well as doing everything to eliminate sugars and starches from my diet. Daily monitoring,
Chanie I love Wagamamas and their food can be really healthy too. Love their smoothies. And go you with your compliments... My husband and I used to love going to the casino. Great fun and great for people watching......sometimes we used to win. :rotfl:
I know some people disapprove of casinos and indeed any kind of gambling or gaming. We were always careful to quit whilst we were ahead. And we were very strict about losses. We set ourselves a loss limit and then walked away. I say we.....it was husband who did the betting, I just went along for the ride.
I have a friend who loves Bingo. She keeps asking me to join her. I might give it a go but I think it's quite fast paced, not sure I can keep up. My friend is like SUgarbaby, , she's been on several tv quiz programmes and has a history of steady winning.
I think with all these things you need certain abilities, very quick thinking and with any kind of betting games some skill in maths. I just don't have those maths skills. Same with investments too I think.
Maman I am loving the sound of your U.K. tour. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful country. I now it's not as good as the way you and your husband are doing it. But I was thinking of going on some of those bus tour holidays. They do some great mini breaks. I have been told that the hotels they use are sometimes a bit tired but that wouldn't bother me. The point for me is that they are good for solo travellers, offering safety and companionship. One of my friends does two or three a year and loves them.
Well it's a horrible day here, cold wet and miserable. I am going to see a house this afternoon. I intended making it a day out, lunch, shopping etc but perhaps I won't bother.....tbh I'm not even sure it's worth viewing the property, I think it's going to be too small, it might be a downsize too far. :rotfl:
Right time for a bit of fabbing. Tidy my eyebrows and give myself a facial.
Have a lovely day.0 -

That sounds like a really good day out chanie.:) Great that you found clothes to buy as well as often when we go out with the intention of buying something there's nothing to our liking!:(
I did pop into a CS yesterday and almost bought a skirt. It was a Hobbs linen one but I was disappointed with the way it was made. It didn't have a zip so somehow they'd elasticated the top and made it a pull on so, being linen, it didn't fit very well. Plus it was just slightly too long:on the cusp between classic and frumpy. I was surprised at Hobbs spoiling the finish like that.
Today I'm going to do Fab Friday. I've had a shower and taken care with creaming and using my complexion brush. When I go out to have my eyebrows done I'll dress smart casual but weather (rain here too:() might dictate a bit. My appointment's in Winchester so I might have a browse as I often get on well there.
I suppose houses are a bit like men LL. You have to kiss a lot of frogs! If this house isn't suitable then another will.:rotfl:0 -
Hello Ladies,
LL you have done so well with your weight loss. Your right that Maman is an inspiration as she continues to maintain her ideal weight.
Chanie what a lovely compliment you were paid.
I had to have blood taken yesterday in my local Hospital and it turned into such an ordeal. It took 3 painful attempts before they had enough blood for the hosts of tests that the rhuematology Doctor ordered. My family unfortunately have very, very small, deep set veins, so every time I have to have blood taken it can end up being very painful for me. I have to explain my circumstances and always remind nurses and phlebotomists to use the smallest needle possible which is the size they use for children usually and people like me who have very, very small veins. I just hope that these blood tests will give me a definitive diagnosis as to the cause of all of my joint and muscle pains.
I should have had a decision on my ESA Mandatory Reconsideration, but I will have to wait at least another week.0 -
lessons you should be fine with Bingo, if you go with someone who knows what they are doing. The first time I went, I won £800 on three wins, but had to split it 4 ways.
Maman I cheated with my shopping as I did a click and collect order on stuff I had already been eyeing up.
How was Winchester? I really want to go back since you have mentioned it. I went to Uni there but haven!!!8217;t been back in 8-10 years, at least.
I also second what sugar says about maintaining your weight.
Sugar I hope you aren!!!8217;t too sore following your trip to the hospital tests.0
