  • Maman I've been trying to get as much done as possible before Christmas. I get a frozen turkey as well and I'm thinking of getting a piece of pork to go with it, last year we had beef but fancy a change.

Many many moons ago I used to type up legal statements, it is harder than people think to keep all the mistakes in, spelling mistakes, type words and then cross them out. Murder to proof read as well.

Money - sometimes I've come across people who are dyslexic. Their spelling can be atrocious but that certainly doesn't mean they are unintelligent - in fact quite the opposite. I've worked in organisations where the written word has been of paramount importance ( legal & pharmaceutical) and some of the most brilliant brains can't always spell. Their talents lie in other directions.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

on the subject of spelling one of the words I notice on facebook spelt incorrectly is definitely. People post I will defiantly do that instead of definitely! I remember about 30 years ago we had an mfi on our town. I worked at a large company and I was talking to a lady who had been to order some wardrobes. Her surname was Smith. When she placed her order the young lad serving her asked for her surname. She said Smith, he asked if that was one f or 2, Mrs Smiff!

I think one of the big culprits is predictive text. It drives me crazy....: everything takes longer because I have to go back and correct it.:rotfl:

  • I don't get the predictive text on anything - I've got a vague idea I must have found out how to switch it off.....

    Good morning lovely ladies.

Had a great sleep and feel tons better although the GERD cough is back. Need to try and rebalance my diet again. Make it more alkaline. Hey ho.

Cold night. I experimented and left the heating set to 15C overnight. Much more comfortable this morning. I think the trick with this house is not too let it get too cold. Because of the lack of insulation it seems you need to keep the fabric of the building at a reasonable temperature. If allowed to cool too it feels like an ice box and takes hours to reheat. Daft as it sounds It seems more fuel efficient that way too.

I have a smart meter so I can see exactly how much energy I’m
Using and can weigh up the various options. Bit scary at the moment.:D. Never mind it’s only the one winter. I’ll sort it out by next winter.

When he did the bathroom My plumber insulated it really well. It’s made a huge difference. I’ll just have to do that as we renovate. Adds to the time and expense but well worth it in the end.

Problem with central heating is it does dry out my skin and can give me headaches. I’ve woken up with one this morning. Need to compensate and drink more water, and keep slathering. I haven’t taken evening primrose oil for a while. Must put those on the shopping list.

Going to do the Christmas decorations this weekend. Not long to
    Go.

Oh, yes! I go so far as to say that 'definitely' is the word most commonly misspelled.

Many people think it is 'definately'.i used to try to din the root into pupils.

At one point my bathroom was the warmest room in the house as it was the first one to be finished! And there is additional insulation round the bath so that the water stays hot :D

If you’re finding the CH drying, first of all turn the radiator in your bedroom down to avoid dehydration during the night if the heating kicks in - bedrooms don’t generally need to be as warm as the rest of the house - and also put some small bowls of water under the radiators to evaporate and keep the air moist. (Top tip for hotels is to hang a damp towel near the aircon outlet if there are no opening windows!).
