    Hello Ladies,

I went to see Dom Pipkin at The Phoenix Artists Club last night and had the time of my life.:j Dom Pipkin is a Jazz virtuoso on the piano. I had never heard of him before I got a free ticket to this show or the venue and both were the most pleasant surprise.:D Dom made a point of educating the audience about some of the Jazz Greats of yesteryear and how much of an influence they made to how the Jazz scene evolved and developed over the years. Jazz started in New Orleans in the Sporting Houses (Brothels) of Storyville in New Orleans. I was fascinated by Dom's mastery of the piano and his knowledge of Jazz and it's origins. I could not stop moving on my seat and my feet were tapping along to the rhythms all night long. :D The audience all wanted more at the end of the show, so Dom played one more song for us as an encore. :T

That sounds like a great night, sugar. Even better, you got to educate yourself along the way!!!

How are your family members - you mentioned on the previous thread that some of your relatives weren't well (I think your daughter and also your brother if I remember correctly).

:rotfl: Floss you're not kidding - 20lb worth of baby plus pram going up a very steep hill = torture for the unfit i.e. me. :rotfl: I cheat a lot by driving but do like walking (downhill) when it's dry enough and I have plenty of time. :)

Haha I remember those days, I used to feel like Sisyphus from the Greek myth - doomed to an eternity rolling a boulder up a hill! :rotfl:

    Hello fellow fabbers :hello:

Just popping in to catch up with you all.

sugarbaby - you jazz evening sounds most enjoyable - it is always a lovely surprise when an evening turns out like that :)

sashybo - I had my first attempt at the beginners yoga with Adriene last night - I felt good after it but I definitely need to improve my flexibility

dandy-candy - stye's are horrible aren't they - I used to suffer from them when I was younger and found that it was better not to wear make-up when I had one.

Feeling decidedly 'un-fab' at the moment - apologies if TMI but I am currently going through the menopause and it has been a particularly bad week - really bloated & aching tummy and mood swings like you wouldn't believe :(
  • Hello Ladies,

Hi Chanie, my brother's health issues are on-going and my eldest daughter has bee ill for more than 7 weeks and it is only now that she is in Southampton Hospital, that she is getting what seems like the right treatment and tests carried out. We hope that she will have some answers to the underlying causes of this long bout of ill health. She is already disabled, so when she gets any viruses or infections it always turns out bad for her. I have been worried sick, but I have to stay away as my own immune system is compromised and I can not afford to be bed ridden.

I got 2 letters from ESA today and my P45!!! They have stopped payments of my ESA without warning me because the Health Assessment form I completed and returned to them arrived one day later than the deadline for returning it. :p My fault, but I was juggling so many balls, so stressed about my daughter and although it was signed for only 1 day late, they then took 5 days to log it onto the computer, so that is why they were saying in one of the letters that I had not returned it. :o As I had sent it 1st class Recorded Delivery, I could prove it had been signed for 1 day after I had posted it, but all that counts with the ESA department is when they log it's arrival on their system. I have to wait for a decision to be made to find out if my ESA will be re-instated. This is a financial nightmare which has just added more stress to my life.

I went to my local Odeon cinema to see the film Breathe today and I just let myself sink into the drama of this true story and forget about my worries for a while. I loved the film and I would give it a 9/10 :D

I can remember when I was acting as my grandson's childminder and in order to take my own son and grandson around snug and safe I would ferry them around in a Silver Cross pram. It was donated to me and so much better for them than a double buggy. They could both fit into it lying down as there was so much room, but it was heavy even for me to push on an even pavement. I lived in a maisonette and pulling that pram up the stairs soon had my stomach and arms nicely toned. There is always a silver lining :D

I like the idea of the Silver Cross pram providing a silver lining Sugarbaby . You always have a good way with words.:)

I had a Silver Cross doll's pram as a child. It seems now that only people like royalty have them. I suppose they're not so practical unless you have a nanny.

I noticed that you'd been buying some supplements. I've added in cod liver oil and glucosamine to my diet as I want to maintain my flexibility. It's early days yet but worth a try.

Hope your daughter gets some help soon.

I bought a new dress yesterday. I'll post a link tomorrow. Also bought more Benefit moisturiser as I'd finished mine. While I was there they made up my eyebrows beautifully. I need to practise!

sugar hopefully, your daughter will get some answers for her illness. I hope you get your claim sorted out soon.

Maman would love to see the link of the dress that you bought.

Sukey bo I hope you get your mojo back soon.

I’ve let my fabbing slide in recent months. So, today, I’ve just had a much needed home spa day, which is something I’ve been looking forward to all week. So, far, I’ve done some waxing, body brush, face mask, body scrub, shaved and I’m currently lying on my bed waiting for some oil to absorb into my feet.
I have a decent stash of beauty samples and Xmas gifts, so I thought I’d put them to good use.

I’m just about to pop out to do a quick top up shop and I’ll have a quick wander into TK Maxx for some window shopping. I feel good for fabbing and I’m pleased I can have a nice leisurely day to myself, as I feel like I’ve barely had a Friday to myself for ages.a
  • Hi all, well my blood tests I had for seeing if I was going through the menopause came back normal apart from low on vitamin D.
Went back to work tuesday, still a bit of coughing though in the morning and this morning I coughed and a clot of blood was in the mucus I spat up. This panicked me so got an appointment with a locum doctor at 6.15pm.

Having the other bedroom ceiling plastered today so even after my last day at work on wednesday next week at least I will have lots of decorating to finish up on.

No interviews as yet but plenty of calls from recruiters.
Yesterday I drove to preston tj hughes to pick up a breville £11.99 toaster and got some pressies for my husband's daughters 30th birthday today.:rotfl:

Currently reading YourHome Magazine, love entering the competitions in there.

  • So sorry to hear of your problems with the ESA sugarbaby. Are there any local organisations which could help you out with advice and/ or loans or grants? I know our local council are reasonable with payments being late or staggered if you let them know about financial hardship. You may have looked into it already but there are charitable funds you (or your family) might be eligible for, particularly as you have health issues too:

Lovely to hear of all your trips out though and I am in awe of all the free tickets you get!! I used to get tickets to be in show audiences but nothing like the variety of events you've found. Amazing and very :money:

Is your DS feeling better now sashy? My two were both a bit feverish this morning but a dose of Calpol sorted them out. DS1 was a very sad little boy last night - wouldn't go to sleep till late, woke up at 10pm sobbing, woke up again at 11pm sobbing - didn't want milk, just wanted to snuggle up and watch the Gruffalo till he nodded off again. We woke up on the sofa at 4am.....

Your morning sounds lovely chanie, lots of fabbing there! Thankfully the boys are at their grandparents this morning and I've been able to wash my hair for the first time in four days  I don't know if anyone's heard of a condition called reactive arthritis, but I suspect that I'm suffering from it after the flu, as I ache constantly and have very little energy. I've got a horrible scaly patch of skin on my neck too which apparently is another symptom :( from my reading though there isn't much that can be done apart from take ibuprofen and rest as necessary, which isn't easy with two toddlers around!

In money-related issues, I am STILL waiting for my last bit of debt to be written off - my debt management company offered all my creditors a settlement figure a few months back, and there's only one left to go! I'm hoping that there will be some money left over from the amount I gave them to make the offers, and that will pay for preschool for this term. I'm also having issues with the Student Loans Company, but to be honest those loans will be written off fairly soon anyway, as I took them out in the 1990s when there was an expiry date on them.

Hope everyone is enjoying fab Friday :j
Finally debt free!! March 2018 :j
