Bum - just lost a post!
I'm with you all on nightwear - one of my best buys was a cotton lawn knee length petticoat. Shaped bust, pretty broderie trimming - bought in a CS for £1.50! I keep a look out for them now.
Fabbing today was a nice warm bath , a defuzz of all the important places and a thorough moiturise of everywhere! My skin was so dry from the wind over the weekend. I also did a mini facial with the gel of the glycolic masks I bought. There was so much product on the facial sheets I put it in a sealed bag and I've been using the surplus gel but just putting on with my fingers - seems to be working OK ;) and very MS!
I think fabbing is more about self respect than vanity. I also wonder whether our body language changes too making other people respond differently - just my thoughts ;)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • I don't get why current sizes aren't real? There is no God given law that a size 10 has to be a certain bust measurement, in fact an American size 10 is different to a UK size 10. Rules change, standards change and the sizes the industry use now are real, it reminds me of old dears who used to be constantly changing prices back into "old" money because pounds, shillings and pence were real and decimal currency wasn't. Well it was in all the shops and banks I used.

Still taking my flax seed oil, day 6 I think, my eyes don't seem any better but I have a bit of a cold so hard to tell, my wrist feels great. I read it improves hair and skin as well but can take about 12 weeks to show so I won't know till Christmas.

I sometimes use DHs old shirts as nightdresses. Take the collar off to make it a granddad collar and sew up the front at the bottom so it doesn't gape. It also encourages him to get new shirts as he hates things being thrown out so me using them means he can get new shirts with a clear conscience.
  • It's a personal opinion you are entitled to have.

It is very confusing though that manufacturers are pandering to peoples wishes to say they are a size or two smaller than they really are by "vanity sizing" their clothes.

Well it isn't just a personal opinion, the clothes are there and the sizes are there and they are real. They might have changed but surely that means there is an "old" size 10 and a "new" size 10. Most companies give details of what the size means, they don't pretend that a size 20 is a 34 inch hip, they give a real measurement.

I think it is more confusing that different companies have different measurements for a size 10 or 12 or whatever. They can call it size 24.5 if it fits me I don't' care but I would love to buy something knowing that it is a 10, I am a 10 so it will fit.

    Love it!:D

I've got a month or so of cod liver oil to use up but I'll definitely be trying the flax seed oil afterwards especially if it can strengthen/thicken my hair! I hadn't realised that flax seed is the same as linseed oil. Isn't that what they use to make putty and oil cricket bats!

Flax seed and linseed are both from the flax plant but apparently flax seed oil is purer and linseed has additives so don't go pinching the linseed out of your husband's cricket bag! My sons used to oil their cricket bats with it.

I'm hoping it is good for hair, mine is very fine and fly away so anything to give it body.

We might start a rush on flax seed oil, buy shares in it now!

Reusing his shirts is very money saving isn't it? I used to wear them with jeans when I was pregnant. I must have a thing about old shirts.

I've pretty well given up with sizing Humpty - I just look at it and measure against me. I don't really care as I've bought sizes 10, 12, 14 and 16 just to get a good fit as there doesn't seem to be consistent sizing anywhere!

  • Consistent accurate sizing of clothes does matter imo - so one can monitor for oneself whether you're getting bigger, smaller or what.

I'm going to be at a bit of a loss when my real size 14 clothes wear out or I get fed-up with them and chuck them out anyway at some point - as I won't have my "Comparison Point" to tell whether the size I am is bigger/smaller/the same as then. It's very easy to kid oneself that label size 14 clothes are the same size as real size 14 clothes and thus allow one's weight to creep up 2 sizes to what it was. Ask me how I know:cool: - and hence I "tell it like it is" that our clothes have been vanity-sized in recent years and I'm too honest not to tell everyone that that is what has happened.

Just reading the papers and thinking "Mygawd - didnt realise just how much they retouched photos until I saw that...".

Photos of Kate Moss au naturelle in a newspaper this morning and I'm there thinking "Her figure is certainly no better than mine and I think it might be worse." !!! It's going to be harder to stick to the diet today after spotting that - but needs must - as I'm aiming for a good figure (ie slimmer than that).

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6228055/Kate-Moss-sizzles-bikini-yacht-trip-St-Tropez-beau-Count-Nikolai-Van-Bismarck.html

I do want to look better than that....think I'll need to put up some Pinterest photos of other women if I'm looking for inspiration to keep going...

Some 2010's media photos really don't help our beautifying efforts....some of the current crop of them are more than a little discouraging imo - as one might look at them and think "I'll do as I am - stop bothering now" and give up going from frump to fabulous on the spot.

Think I'm going to need to save some 1970s/1980s exercise videos from YouTube to keep up the momentum of what I'm aiming for....

Brrrr. Autumn is definitely here this morning. Dark leaden skies and a cold wind. Thank goodness I have managed to get some rugs down. Chimneys being swept tomorrow. Time to start some serious “hygge”.

I have already started cooking more winter warming foods. Can’t beat a bit of good old British Grub to fight the cold.

Did I mention I am going to try a gardener/handyman. Well he’s scheduled to start today. I managed to clear most of the waist high weeds but it was hard work. Anyway he’s going to finish clearing the tough woody stuff, dig over and replant with some of the shrubs I have been nursing along. Then apart from the tree surgeon and fencing I think that will be the last of the outside work for now.

If the handyman is any good then I am going to get him to slosh a bit of emulsion around - just a quick freshen up in the sitting room and kitchen diner, make it a bit less gloomy for winter. Some of the paint colours aren’t really to my taste.

I have decided to buy in some help for the bigger jobs like painting walls and ceilings so I can concentrate on the more time consuming fiddly “arty type” finishing touches.

Mr handyman has just arrived. Back later.
