Happy Anniversary Maman & enjoy the film XX
7DW - the reason DH built himself a trike was because the touring bikes that he liked were too heavy. You have to be really strong to be able to hold one upright now. Would this be an option for your DH and you?
Mind you my present to me on my 70th was a little 2 seater convertible...;) and I LOVE it! It's quite old but has been well looked after with a low mileage and goes like stink when I need to. I'm definitely intending to grow old disgracefully
Had to go to the local tip today to get rid of some engine oil for DH - took a look into TKM on the way back. Got a lovely pair of dark pink suede sandals, a retinol face mask and a backpack that I wanted for out and about. Happy BunnySmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Hi Silva Sava, no he doesn't want a trike, I have asked him. Nice little two seater convertible sounds great....he is googling as we speak!!(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Mines got a hard top that folds down into the boot automatically - surprising amount of space even with the roof in it - so handy when going down to St Trop dontcha know
(Just don't wear a long scarf in an open top! Thats the way to get decapitated!!!)

We are going to look at a little yellow sports car this afternoon. It's quite old, but hasn't done a lot of miles and has a full service history. It's a Mazda MX5 with a hard and soft top. 40 miles away up the A5...easy peasy! Will keep you posted x(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Ooh you lot....you got me googling for two seater convertibles.....saw one I fancied but it was manual. I really want an automatic. :rotfl:
I can wait till the right one comes along.
Good luck SDW. Hope she's what your're looking for.
Just back from acupuncture. Need to take it easy so just about to have lunch. Too cold to sit out so might watch a nice film whilst I rest.
Have just sent some money through to solicitor prior to exchange of contracts. Looks like completion will be either 29th or 30th August. That's fine.
The really good news is .....now that the final figures are in I am £1500 better off than I thought I would be. Wahoo. I do tend to always to add in a contingency in case of hiccups.
Feeling Excited but a tad nervous......a bit of a leap of faith but I'm sure it will be fine. A bit uncertain about how far to go with renovations. I have loads of ideas but unfortunately I do not a bottomless purse so I guess I shall have to make some compromises. I am just going to move in, get straight and comfortable for winter and live with it for a while...maybe slosh a bit of emulsion paint around just to brighten up some of the gloomy decor.0 -
Oh wow, things are getting exciting for you LL....a new start for you x(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Lots of exciting news going on here.:D So pleased that the bungalow is working out for you LL and all this talk of convertibles is brilliant.:T
It's probably no bad thing to live in the house or a while before making any major decisions especially on d!cor. Provided it's watertight and warm for the winter, you'll have time to think. Not sure whether your new neighbours have similar houses. It's often good to see what they've done with theirs too especially as yours sounds fairly untouched.
Thanks for all your good wishes for our anniversary. We had a lovely time.In the end I wore my black jeans with a long sleeved Reiss top in red and black, suede ballet pumps. It was casual enough for the cinema but my top looked smart enough for the restaurant.
I did enjoy the film. Abba songs have such a feel good factor. I don't want to spoil the film for anyone who's still planning to see it but let's say the story line was somewhat contrived but that's only to be expected. I still enjoyed it though. When we got home, after a fantastic meal, I played my Abba Gold CD and danced around the house.:D
Feeling anything but fab today. I've been to the dentist for some treatment and my mouth is still 'defrosting'.;)0 -
Just been downloading pictures of my ideas, plus managed to find some floor plans online of things I want to try and incorporate. Not suitable for the planning dept or building control obviously but enough for me to show architects so they can see what I'm talking about. I'm going to keep a file of ideas, colour schemes, plans and drawings.
Actually the house is the biggest bungalow in the cul de sac. It was built in 1935 for the builders own occupation so it was already bigger and fancier than the others, plus it has had a couple of extensions added over the years, so as bungalows go it really is a nice size. The space just needs a bit of reconfiguring.
When we renovated this property DS2 and I made the classic mistake of thinking on the hoof and making it up as we went along......the finished result was great but, doing it that way, cost much more in the end. It would have been better and far cheaper if we had drawn up a proper schedule of works.
However, I am not going to beat myself up though because I was trying to project manage this house whilst my husband was dying and shortly after his death, plus dealing with mum and dad illnesses and deaths so really it's not surprising things got a bit messy and everything took so much longer than it should have. No worries, we live and learn.
Ouch to the dentist......hope all is well. That's still on my to do list - after I've moved. :eek:0 -
We looked at the little car and my husband was taken for a ride in it. It is lovely! We have another to look at on Saturday and tehn we will make a decision.
What a strange time for you LL. It must be very bittersweet. Your bungalow sounds great, however.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Hello Ladies,
LL your new bungalow is almost legally yours. Take your time about doing any renovations and plan a schedule of works that will suit your budget.
I joined CHILI digital rentals on Tuesday through a Groupon deal and I got a free e- ticket for my local Odeon (worth £14.50) when I registered and £10 credit for film rentals with CHILI for only £5.99. :j:D:T
I watched the film Unsane on my PC with CHILI and this was a free film for me, as the 1st film after registration is free to watch. I really enjoyed this film. I had wanted to watch it when it was in the cinemas, but simply could not find the time. I would give this psychological thriller 9/10
I went to see Mama Mia! Here We Go Again at my local Odeon and I absolutely loved it. I would give it 9.5/10 and that only because the film could have been a bit longer for me personally.I was never an ABBA fan before the 1st film but their songs are perfect for this comedic feel good film. I was dancing and singing along. I used my free e-ticket from CHILI so a very MSE trip to the cinema for me.
I went to Karaoke and I had a great evening dancing and singing. I sung 3 songs:
1. Hurt So Good by Susan Cadogan
2. Dream Lover by Bobby Darin
3. Return To Sender by Elvis0
