I thought I had posted before I went on holiday but no, so here is an update on my alphabet challenge progress.

I loved this book! Power and prejudice get inside your head and flip your mind around.

Then a jump up the alphabet as I took some Kindle books on holiday.

story - great sense of humour

I wasn't sure about this but it was great fun - our heroine is recognised as a Guardian and as a Dragon's Mate (which she refuses to believe). She becomes a Demon Lord. And all because she was delivering an artefact to a buyer in Paris. I'll be reading more in this series.

Back to my preferred crime thriller genre, this was the first in the John Puller series. Gruesome murders, but I'll be reading more.

I have physical books for Q and T-W, so I moved on to my books with numbers in the title' challenge which I have planned for after the alphabet titles. On my Kindle, of course I had

I last read this book back in the sixties at school. It has stood the test of time - and it is still relevant!

Home again and I've just started

    ...

This one is on my reading list too.

It would be great if you can let me know what you thought of the book when you get around to reading it :)
  • Currently 1/2 way through reading 'Limit' by Frank Schatzing (the English translation).

700 pages of really complicated sci-fi and it is great so far. So many themes, ideas and really well researched.

I'm sorry if I'm on the wrong thread, but can someone help me please? I read a book a few years ago and wanted to read it again but cannot for the life of me remember the title - only the very basic outline of the story.

Is there a site I can type in what I know and get some suggestions?

Hope you don't mind me asking.

There are plenty of forums that can help.
Goodreads is one of the best.

If you can remember a characters name, try googling it

Or post up here, the posters on this thread are avid readers of all genres, one of us may be able to help.

    Just finishe this

Not your usual type of thriller/whodunnit. think curious dog in the nightime meets [insert any crime type novel].

A really easy read, plot a bit of a stretch but ultimately satisfying in the end.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow.. :p

Might be worth asking on AbeBook's forum on their BookSleuth board.

If you liked "man called Ove" or The pilgrimage of harold Fry" then give this a go.
Very similar in the plotlines, but an enjoyable read.

  • Babs 103 ...if it's any consolation I'd love to remember the name of a book that I read a few back but can't ....I can remember the plot perfectly which is the annoying part!

I also read Small Great Things & enjoyed that.

Just finished Last Seen which I could easily imagine being turned into a tv drama.

Now reading Let me lie by Claire Mackintosh..I enjoyed her previous 2 books so I have high hopes.

My list of books to read seems to be getting longer rather than shorter!
Cannot remember whether I posted in July but poor pickings for me. One book that month and one so far in August.
Sea of Lost Love by Santa Montefiore. Did not enjoy this as much as previous novels by her. Felt a bit lacklustre, I just did not really engage with the characters as much, really didn’t care.
Then so far I have read The shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher which I thoroughly enjoyed. Now reading Elizabeth and Her German Garden by Marie Annette Beauchamp which is great prose, I love her style, she was ahead of her time and the descriptions of creating do resonate, except I do not have a servant however surly to create my vision!
