Book 31:

7/10. I enjoyed this book, although I found bits of it hardgoing. Overall, worth the time spent in reading it.
I was looking at the cover earlier today and umm-ing and aah-ing over whether this should be my next. I decided against.
Funny in places, but not as good a read as i hoped.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
"No man is worth, crawling on the earth"- adapted from Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio
Hope is not a strategy
...A child is for life, not just 18 years....Don't get me started on the NHS, because you won't win...I love chaz-ing!0 -

Book 30:
[IMG]https://onewThis has been on my list since I heard the author on ?WH? It's quite a recent publication which explains why I haven't seen it in chazzers as yet. Gotta hunt it down

For anyone who loves a good psychological thriller, I've just finished The Girl Friend by Michelle Frances. Really good, I couldn't put it down and now I'm having to work hard to get rid of the dark shadows under my eyes
.
The plot centres around Cherry, young beautiful and smart but hasn't had the advantages that her rich boyfriend, Daniel has. His mother is a rather "clingy" and realises Cherry isn't right for her son. She tells her an awful lie and Cherry vows revenge.
Recommended 9.5/10.Normal people worry me.0 -

"Javid - call him Jay - is a dope dealer living in West London. He goes to mosque on Friday, and he's just bought his pride and joy - a BMW. He lives with his mum, and life seems sweet.
But his world is about to turn upside-down. Because MI5 have been watching him, and they think he's just the man they need for a delicate mission.
One thing's for sure: now he's a long way East of Hounslow, Jay's life will never be the same again."
This is one of my favourite books so far this year.
Interesting subject, well written characters, and a plot that is thought out and ultimately believable.
The ending was also an unexpected twist that completed the story in a very satisfactory way!!Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!

Book 32:
8/10: I changed my mind and decided to read it. I could see where it was going from early on an it took me four days to read in small doses, because it brought back many difficult memories for me, unleashing a lot of angst - and reminding me of just how dreadful an employer the NHS is. Its staff's committment is because of the institition, and survives despite many hard knocks not least letting people that matter to you down time and time again because of the immediate emergency you have in front of you, and then another, and then another. Jeremy Hunt doesn't have a clue about what the staff go through. On the plus side, I had a great deal of empathy with the author and identified with his humour completely. Lots of LOL moments although not a work of literary genius, just a man with a talent for the truth.
Funny in places, but not as good a read as i hoped.
This seems worth reading. Many years ago, I nearly gave up on "Londonstani" at p5 because the language was so dreadful - but I continued and found a story within that was worth reading. This sounds like there may be a similar vibe to it.

Sounds interesting.:) I will put it on my wish list.
I have lost track of how many books I've read this year as I was trying to make a note of it. I have read a lot of thrillers lately.0 -

A decent book for your holidays (out in paperback) : An Italian Holiday by Maeve Haran. Sort of "Marigold Hotel" meets "Golden Girls".
Plenty of humour and a good storyline, not too taxing!Normal people worry me.0
